EnchantixLamb,
Best and only Husbando Gacha Gaming
Tale of Food is one of the most amazing games that’s underrated and definitely a hidden gem. The reason why I say this is because I have played a few gacha games and always end up quitting them at some point, mainly because a lack of a sense of community when it comes to these games and getting the actual help I need. I can proudly say that this game is different and something that I would play long-term on a daily basis with the people on the game’s Official Discord.

I also love this game because it doesn’t immediately try to tell you that rainbow units are the only way to progress in PVE content. Instead, it tells you how to play and beat the game using R and N units. It also provides a VARIETY of pricing options for those who are looking to invest into the game’s longevity, but is also playable for people who are FTP.
Lord Sayuri,
Becoming almost unplayable
Since the arrival the of “Invitation to Wine” event, there’s been many bugs in the game like the item shop not showing in-game items, or the inability to use some resource stages (ex. selecting “Grove of Harvest” will immediately make the game crash for me). This makes it extremely hard for me to play the game now since the story mode for this game sometimes has level requirements, which you have to grind in order to get.

It’s a great game overall before these issues arrived though. The gameplay is simple to understand and it’s fair for both free-to-play and pay-to-win players, you even get rewards simply for playing the for a certain amount of time. The art is beautiful and the characters have rememberable designs.

I just wish that the devs will work on patching bugs rather than pushing more events out. I love the events but it’s hard to play it when using simple mechanics in the game will cause the game to just crash over and over again :[
atznlou,
Hidden gem?!
I downloaded this based on positive reviews and I have slowly grown to really like this game!! For fans of Touken Ranbu, this is basically a food version but with a MUCH better game (sorry TKRB but your app is just so outdated still love you though). Voice acting is solid! Characters are fun. Battles are a tad boring but honestly I’m not playing the game for the combat system anyway haha. Story is pretty fun too, and the individual stories aren’t too long so reading through them isn't too tiring. Game mechanics are pretty easy to understand and get the feel of if you have played stamina-based material collecting games before. Also there’s gacha but so far it seems really hard to save up for pulls? Still early game though so not sure. Would recommend!! At least give it a couple days worth of trying out. Love Oyster Omelette!!
GatchaGaymer,
Hidden gem?
Not sure why there aren’t any reviews yet for this game. First impressions: seems very polished with great art and voice acting. As a gay guy, been looking for an otome/bl flavored mobile gatcha game amongst the ocean of collect the busty anime girl gatchas, and this game fits the bill with collect all the pretty hot dudes instead. As another example of inclusiveness, I appreciate that you can pick male or female as your character at the start. The story doesn’t really make sense for now (the guys are all personified chinese food? And you’re a food god trying to collect them??) but its interesting and definitely a unique twist on a gatcha theme. Battles are turn based and uses cute chibi versions of your characters. Moves and character progression seem to have depth. Overall I say give this game a try, it may pleasantly surprise you like it did me.
Puppyluv_2007,
It’s great, when it works that is.
If you played and enjoyed Food Fantasy, you’ll enjoy this game. The art is gorgeous, the food soul personalities are wonderful, the game play is engaging, but I keep running into the issue of the game not working half the time. When I tap to open the app, it gives me the loading screen and says that my connection failed even though my internet connection hasn’t changed. I can close the app and try again, only for it not to work. So it’s really guess work of when I’ll actually be able to play the game. I wind up missing certain times events and such bc I can’t access the game. It’s such a wonderful game only for it to load whenever it feels like. Such a bummer. I don’t see myself able to play it for very long if it doesn’t get fixed either bc it’s really bothersome when trying to advance my food souls.
onlyoneof,
Great characters good content
Obviously, the character designs are quite beautiful and eye-catching. There was an actual story in this game which was descriptive. The character stories that unlock when you raise affection with them are also descriptive and interesting. There is more content to the game than just grinding story levels. Not much of a fan of the English voice actors matching the characters, but if they made an option to switch to JP or CN voice but still keep ENG text, this game would be much more enjoyable. They pretty much have every little thing you would want in a gacha game: nice music, ability to choose the gender of MC, gameplay that is easy to comprehend, a button to take you to an item's source, good story with beautiful characters you can get closer to, and more. Would recommend to anyone who loves gacha games and pretty characters. Just try it.
Pantaloneswife,
Well made and heartwarming otome game
I love the rich Chinese culture in the game, as a person who is Chinese American and needs a actually good otome game the character designs are beautiful and detailed, and the game has some of the best and most heartfelt story lines I have experienced in video games. The gameplay for battle is quite cute too. I am very immersed in all the details of the game. Very impressed!!! It’s quickly becoming my favorite game.

However, I wish we could get more free pulls, the addition of the option of watching ads to get them. 180 seems like too much for a singular pull, and only some quests get currency for pulls in game. Around 10-20 on average and 30 on hard. Even genshin only has 160!
DreamInTechnicolor,
Engaging, Fun, and GENEROUS! The best mobile game I’ve EVER played.
I’ve yet to ever play a single mobile game whose devs actually cared about their players… until now.

Every single mobile game I’ve played until now has felt like a money grab, but Tale of Food absolutely isn’t one of those games. They are so generous to their F2P players, and even more generous to their paying players. What’s more, the story is so fun, the gameplay is actually deep and requires strategy (but you can auto-battle, too!), and the BEST part of all is just how much this game tries to teach us about Chinese history and culture through FOOD! THEY EVEN HAVE CHINESE FOOD RECIPES YOU CAN ACTUALLY MAKE IN YOUR OWN KITCHEN!!!

For anyone thinking, “Eh, I’ll stick with Genshin (or Honkai), please give this game a chance. It’s 100,000,000 times better than either of those games, and yes, I absolutely used to play Genshin religiously. This game treats you so much better, and is so fun AND delicious!

Thank you so much, devs, please keep doing what you’re doing. I’ll be playing and supporting you for as long as you guys keep this game in America!
Lan Kazuna,
Really great game :)
Every now and then I would want to play Food Fantasy, but some much happened, and feel like it became very heavy in the gacha. When I saw this game, it reminded me of it, so I downloaded it. It’s really great so far. No problems with the story, and they do have a section to replay it. Lots to do in the game like your typical farming for materials, making sure you have food for those restaurant requests, and they reward you if you play for 80minutes daily. They do have a auto-battle option if you like that. They offer a weekly pack for reclaiming free stamina if you missed the claim time and a few other things for $0.99.
ducksmuggler3000,
Food Fantasy with a Chinese RPG twist
This game reminds me exactly of Food Fantasy. With the auto walk and auto battle mechanics, it doesn’t really have much of a motivation to explore the world, read the story or even participate in the game. It is very much an AFK leave-your-phone grind game. Many materials are tough to get and leveling up characters takes a while and lots of stamina, which is limited to begin with. I understand it is a tactic to get you to play more and login during stamina times. There are many extra features too and a login time reward system which to me, screams that they want you to stay on the game solely for the reward rather than because there is actually a good game.
