CodeDuckME,
Anki+
I have had a great time using this app. I’ve used Anki on and off for 2 years while I’ve been learning Japanese. This app is simply nicer to use. The UI is better (that matters to me bigtime), the learning curve is MUCH less, and it feels more intuitive. I love Anki for its SRS algorithm, its extensibility, and ability to customize. And if you’re really in to doing all sorts of custom shenanigans to your cards, by all means use Anki. But if you’re like me, you’d like to be able to start creating cards, including the meaningful features (like use of a language dictionary, pronunciation guide, and the ability for multiple definitions/translations of a word or sentence), and start your phrase/sentence mining sometime within a week of downloading the app. With Anki, it feels like it takes FOREVER to set it up in any sort of meaningful way. And when I finally get a card template I’m happy with, I’m too exhausted to bother creating any cards. This app solves those problems, uses Anki’s guts and Algorithm, is OPEN SOURCE (as a software engineer, keeping that kind of transparency and community from the original Anki project is huge to me) and is easier on the eyes. I really really like this app. Especially because it is focused heavily on languages which is only use I have for SRS.

Better Than Anki
I got this app to learn Japanese because I wanted Anki, but couldn't afford it. I'm SO glad I went with this instead of just paying for Anki. The SR system is a great way to memorize things easier, and I like that it allows you 4 options to pick how well you know each thing. On top of that, since you choose what you're learning when you first make an account, the app seems tailored to whatever you're learning. With Japanese, for example, there are options to add kanji, readings, hirigana, katakana, etc. for terms. It also gives suggestions for these, as well as definitions, which makes making a deck of 250 terms go by way quicker than it would if you were doing it by hand. Plus, the app is free. Try it out, and if you don't like it for whatever reason, you lose nothing. But I really do recommend it, especially for (Japanese and Chinese esp.) language learners.
lonely lesbian summerghost,
Honestly excellent
Incredible flashcard app, especially for languages. It has a dictionary in the app, and you can search the terms and just add it directly! User interface is beautiful and so easy to use, love all the SRS-related options, and I adore the writing portion. Such a good way to really test my memory! I really think this is going to help me go further in my language. And I love that it’s open source. Thank you so much for making this app! You saved me from having to try a dubious app or pay for the official Anki or even try to use quizlet, which I kind of hate. Thank you thank you thank you!
Anthro Gal,
Honestly quite impressed
I am honestly quite impressed with this app. I’ve been looking for a SR flashcard app that will allow me to write my answers with my Apple pen and this works quite well. The only drawback, which is an Apple thing and not the problem of the app, is that the writing works extremely well with the languages that Apple support in scribble: Spanish, French, etc.; but not for other languages like Norwegian. But other than that, this is fantastic and it’s free!
CrashAshley400ex,
Amazing truly FREE app for learning anything new!
This open source app is a powerhouse of learning right at your fingertips! It has so many awesome features for learning a new language, and it really is FREE. No in-app purchases and no annoying adds! It may not be the slickest looking spaced repetition app, but it simply works and works beautifully. Don’t waste your money on a clunky mobile attempts of desktop software like Anki. Try Ulangi instead! You literally have nothing to lose.

Awesome Language Learning App But..
I am using this app for my Spanish and it is VERY helpful. I LOVE the SRS feature. However, the pronunciation feature is able to be used on the initial word on the front of the flash card. If it could be used on the word that gets revealed, that would be AMAZING; because sometimes you don’t want the Spanish word first, you want the English word, THEN the revealed Spanish word with pronunciation. If you could make this change, that would be AWESOME! Thanks! :)
Menteral,
Wow, I am so happy this app exists
I’d been collecting vocab words on a Google spreadsheet and the spreadsheet was growing quite large. Also, I was finding it hard to practice and quiz myself using the spreadsheet. This app integrates beautifully and simply with my existing Google Doc - and the interface and learning tools within it work beautifully. I now have easy access to custom flash cards on both my iPad and iPhone.
Sal.pho,
by and large it is great.
Free, powerful, best backers, limitless, even science-aristocracy and bla bla bla. But it is not hands-on, if you need power, you have to put forward sacrifices. It is challenging to become familiar with the process. How implement google sheet, how to make a connection between google drive and ulangi, even how to read your cards. But after all these, you finally will become independent of all paid app.
kikistuck,
Friendly UI and great features!
Great app! Like the practice of spaced repetition for learning, but hated the UI of anki. Ulangi’s dictionary and suggestions features when creating new cards really helps elevate the flashcard quality and also streamlines what can otherwise be a very tedious process to me. Absolutely recommend it for learning languages!!!
Heushzbjxishw,
Best app for flashcards
I love this app, it’s extremely helpful for learning new words. I’m learning Chinese and just by searching a word, I can always find a flashcard with audio, pronunciation and exact meaning.

I wish there’s an option to “reset progress” when I’m trying to add something new that’s already in my deck.
