Description

New: Vertical (Dark Sky style) layout option, full-screen view & zoom, lock screen widgets and Apple Watch Ultra support.

Weathergraph is a beautiful visual hourly weather widget and forecast for Watch, iPhone, iPad, and Mac, with the Apple Watch app and complications.
Powered by Apple Weather, Foreca, Dark Sky, Open-Meteo, and yr.no/met.no.

It shows:
- Nowcast (real-time rain & snow forecast updated every 30 minutes – PRO only)
- Rain & snow alerts based on nowcast data (PRO, watch-only so far, coming to iPhone and iPad)
- Hour-by-hour temperature (main colorful line)
- Hour-by-hour precipitation — rain, and snow (blue chart)
- Hour-by-hour cloudiness (cloud cover) and sunshine (clouds on top + sun rays)
- Hour-by-hour wind speed (red line) and direction (red arrows)
- Hour-by-hour precipitation or dew point (dotted line)
- Hour-by-hour atmospheric pressure, absolute, or rate of change (purple line or arrows)
- Hour-by-hour UV index (rainbow dashes)
- Real day/night (sky color)
- Daily temperature minimum and maximum (overlaid above chart)
- Actual temperature and place (on the top)
- Sunrise and sunset times

Hikers, runners, bikers, kite surfers, pilots, and many outdoor enthusiasts around the world love the at-glance readability, customizability, and reliability.

Recently added vertical layout brings back the best of the closed down Dark Sky app.

Weathergraph is offline capable. The app caches the last acquired forecast for up to 24 hours, allowing you to hike or run outside the network (or go running or biking with a wifi-only Apple Watch) and still see the most recently fetched data. The data refreshes automatically once a connection is available.

The hourly forecast is updated every hour, nowcast and rain alerts update every 30 minutes. If rain or snow is expected during the next 3 hours, you will get a notice on a widget (iPhone, iPad & Mac), a large complication (Watch), and a detailed 3-hour precipitation chart in the app.
Nowcast and alerts are powered by Foreca and depend on the precision of rain radars in your area.

Weathegraph cares about your privacy. No ads, no tracking, and no sharing of locations with third parties. This is how I want all the apps on my phone & watch to behave.

You can unlock professional Apple Weather, Foreca, Open-Meteo, and Dark Sky forecast sources, weather alerts, nowcast, and all styles and options via a reasonably priced subscription, which covers the cost of data and allows me to further improve Weathergraph. One-time Weathergraph Forever unlock is also available.
Thank you for your support!

If you liked Dark Sky, Weather Line, Weathertron, or Weather Strip, then Weathergraph might be the best replacement :).

Please note:
Subscriptions made on Apple devices will be charged to your credit card through your iTunes account. Your subscription will automatically renew unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. You will not be able to cancel once activated. Manage or turn off your subscriptions in App Store app > Account > Subscriptions.

You can now hide the preferences section, if you prefer cleaner looks.

PREVIOUSLY:

Fonts. Fonts. Fonts. Pick one of the four typefaces, and make your forecast look like Shakespeare wrote it. Or like a meteorological report straight from the typewriter.
The weather tooltip (activated by a long press & drag on the graph) now shows whether rain will be light or heavy.

Plus, the widgets now should work reliably without disappearing. This took some time to track, thank you for the patience!

Arrrr! Pirate Weather arrives as a new data source, indie-made by the exceptional Alexander Rey. High resolution and accuracy over the continental US and Canada, using NOAA's HRRR, GFS and GEFS models. Comes with its own 60 minute nowcast.

Feels-like (apparent) temperature arrives to widgets as well – it will show up when the apparent temperature is different from the one on the thermometer.

Feels-like temperature is now represented with a hatched area in the chart, when you set the Temperature style to “Real + Feels like”.
Plus more accurate text for wind forecast, reliability improvements, bug fixes, and updated screenshots.

Independently run Open-Meteo forecast source adds 14 days forecast and now comes with precipitation probability as well, matching other services. This update also adds 2 extra days to the Apple Weather source, improving it to 9 days in total.
Enjoy the new outlook!

The “full chart” complication option is now turned into a new standalone complication. This allows you to combine both the text and full chart on the Modular Duo watchface, while still using the chart with the temperature row on the other watchfaces.

New simple yet elegant text complication contains current conditions, today's highs, lows and precipitation total, and a time of the next sunrise or sunset. Pick it as an alternative for Modular, Compact and Nike watchfaces.

If you know of friends or fellow outdoors lovers, who used Dark Sky, I'd be grateful if you could share or tweet a screenshot to let them know.
Thank you! Tomas.

Weathergraph is now saving a short history of forecasts on your device, and uses it for filling in today's high/low temperature. This helps solve the problem that most weather services only provide current and future data, so late in the day, the today's range didn't reflect e.g. today's morning temperatures.
To prevent weird results, the temperatures from the history are only used to extend today's high/low range if you didn't move too far – no point in using the morning lows after a 200 km long trip.

A new 8-hour option for the vertical view, that works well when paired with the chart above it (select 'Both' in layout preferences).

A proper feels-like temperature. If the apparent temperature differs from the 'real' one, you'll now know instantly.
(The 'Temperature style' in preferences still picks the one you want to see plotted in charts.)

New “both layouts at once” option. Put the hourly chart on top with the hour-by-hour wind and direction in a vertical layout below, for the ultimate kitesurfing app. Or combine the graph and vertical layout in any other way you need.

Weather metric switcher for the vertical layout arrives to Weathergraph. Now you can see the hour-by-hour rain amount, precipitation probability, wind speed & direction (attention surfers!), UV index, air pressure and more on the go.
On the iPhone, try quick swipes left and right over the switcher button to quickly run through the metrics.

You can now open an hour-by-hour forecast for each day when in vertical layout mode. Just tap the day in daily forecast. This brings back the functionality already working for the horizontal chart.

New vertical layout in Weathergraph, the perfect replacement for the closing Dark Sky app. Head to the new Layout section in Preferences to turn it on.

A new 8-hour option for the vertical view, that works well when paired with the chart above it (select 'Both' in layout preferences).
A 'windy' condition will show up when it feels ... windy (previously it was a bit too conservative, showing only for strong gales and above).

PREVIOUSLY:
A proper feels-like temperature. If the apparent temperature differs from the 'real' one, you'll now know instantly.
(The 'Temperature style' in preferences still picks the one you want to see plotted in charts.)

New "both layouts at once" option.

Best Weather App w/ Watch Complications
I love this app, I mainly like the Dark Sky view, even though I do appreciate the wearhergraph. I need reading glasses though, so can’t use the weathergraph on my watch, but prefer a text view in that case. Really love all the options and the beautiful display of data.

The only issues I have with giving 5 stars is due to:

1. Most importantly, family sharing. I have a family of 4, but even if I only had my wife use it, we’d be paying $40/month or $120/life. That’s a lot. Especially when Dark Sky was $5 and no subscription. I think the price is reasonable for what you get, IF it included family sharing, but I can’t do it until that’s an option, and while not as pretty and functional, I’m currently using Foreca with a $3/year subscription, even that is only $6/year with my wife, it $12/year with kids.

2. Weather alerts. Definitely needed in a weather app. I hear locations are coming, which is great.
hstnnn,
Brilliant!
Brilliant weather app. Instant favorite and must-have for watch, phone, and iPad. App used to be watch-only, and I found it when I bought an Apple Watch and was looking for a weather app that quickly and visually shows key weather information. This app stands out from all the other options with its design and attention to both visual and functional detail. The graph itself raises the usefulness of an Apple Watch significantly—it works in so many ways to supplement other key at-a-glance daily information and also as the basis for a watch face that can be a whole miniature weather center. The graph, multiple complications for current conditions, wind and/or other options and RadarScope make for a most useful weather face. This app elevates the watch. Recently the developer has added phone and iPad apps. The graph looks stunning on both devices and as app and widget conveys weather information so very well. I have numerous weather apps and Weathergraph has instantly become one of my main widgets and first weather references on my devices. With multiple data sources and options for customizing, it shows all the key weather forecast and conditions most effectively. Again it is a brilliant combination of aesthetic and functional design. Just perfect.
Update: the developer keeps refining and adding great new features, refinements, and options, giving the app even more looks on all the platforms.
kek978,
Wonderful watch weather app!
This is a truly great weather app for your watch. I began to use it because my other weather apps on the watch seemed to always be “updating” when I went to look at them, and weathergraph always had data. It might be 10 mins old, but on my watch that’s fine. If I want totally the most detailed forecast I’ll use one of my 6 favorite weather apps on my phone. Even when weathergraph is updating it still has data available to look at.

After a bit I began to appreciate the amount of useful data that is shown on the screen. I get temperature, wind, precipitation at a glance, for one day or five days. I also get cloud cover, something you don’t get easily even on phone apps. I also get sunrise and sunset. All instantly available. When using my watch I usually just want an overview of today or tomorrow, and I get far more than that with weathergraph. It has taken me a few weeks to really appreciate the quantity of information offered by weathergraph and get used to reading it at a glance.

I have several weather apps on my watch, and quite a few more on my phone, but I get more information more regularly from weathergraph than all of the others. This is a great app, and I’m so happy to have it!
Music Lady Lisa,
A beautiful merge of WeatherLine, DarkSky, and art
When I learned DarkSky would be going offline, I downloaded about a dozen other weather apps that I hoped would fill the void left behind by the loss of it and WeatherLine, my two (previously) favorite weather apps.

This one is the one I’m sticking with as my new primary weather app. Both the full screen app and the widget (and phone app) do a beautiful job of displaying a TON of weather info into a simple graphic format that I can read in an almost instant glance.

I have also never seen any other weather app that is so customizable both in terms of the content you want displayed, how you want it displayed, and with what styles and graphics you prefer. I’ve been able to add a lot of coastal weather info into my display, while others might prefer storm info, freeze info, or heat indexes, etc. This app really lets you specify exactly what you want to see and how you want to see it.

Lastly, the developer is one of the most helpful, communicative devs I’ve run into anywhere. You can tell that suggestions, bug reports, and other feedback are read, responded to, and fixed. They are very up front about any fixes and new projects they are working on, and the app is continually being upgraded. Weather graphing seems to be a passion for them.
Rick_6857463524,
Great presentation of data
The graphical presentation and widgets provides a lot of data at a glance - high and low temps for the next few days, cloud conditions, rain probability and precipitation, wind, etc. And then by scrolling more details can be found. It allows you to choose between different weather sources and there are a lot of choices in terms of how to present the data and how the graphic appears. But most encouraging is that the author is continually making improvements and likes to get suggestions from the users.
The Apple watch app is one of the better ones I have seen. Great complications. Just make sure you install the weathergraph app on your watch in order to make the complications and the app available on the watch.
TSRinAustin,
Best Dark Sky replacement.
Apple bought Dark Sky and promptly managed to not understand what made it a great visual interface, barely enhancing their meh app. I’ve since downloaded dozens of other weather apps, and none manage to best Dark Sky’s visual information elegance. Until I ran into Weathergraph. This app not only manages to match Dark Sky’s visual elegance, but also do it better. It’s customization options are unparalleled. With it I can manage to see an information density in a single screen that is unmatched, in a way that contextualizes the information. Not columns of numbers, not cute icons that mean little, but a visual interpretation that would make Edward Tufte proud. This app is by far, no doubts, the BEST weather app on iOS, bar none.
darrevan,
Love the app but missing something huge
So I love this app. It was my go to weather app and I paid for the lifetime access. But, I live in Florida and had to delete it and go back to apple weather because it DOES NOT provide weather alerts. We just went through our second direct hit hurricane this year and not once did this app tell me that I was under a number of weather alerts. To me, due to our weather here, it really makes the app useless. I need those alerts in real time and not offering alerts really makes this app irrelevant in comparison to the competition. I also emailed the developer but never got a response. So one star off for no weather alerts and another star off for poor communication even after developer says email me with concerns or issues.
Coliseum Lipford,
Can’t change the unit scales.
Just downloaded Weathergraph on my iPhone and watch and it seems to be nice since I’ve always liked graphs for data. But I can’t change the the units on the iPhone from Metric to Imperial (I live in the USA). There is an option on the watch and that works fine to change the units, but not on the iPhone app. Am I missing something or is this an oversight that needs to be added in an update? Being an option only in Pro just wouldn’t make sense, since it can be changed on the watch. There is no Settings menu for any changes. Thanks for listening.

Addendum:
Yes, I did find the Preference button. I apologize, somehow I completely overlooked that. It was late and I was tired, I guess.
So far the app looks good and the prompt response is appreciated. So I raised my review to four stars. I haven’t had the app but a couple days, so I’ll have to use it for a while before determining if it’ll be a five or not.
Thank you for your help!
WetDog65,
Get this app!
Weathergraph is a fantastic app. The weather data/information that you need is all there and presented in clear fashion. User modifications to what is displayed and how (lines vs arrows, for example) are easily accessed via the app preferences. Various themes are are available. More importantly. A selection of weather data sources is provided in order to maximize regional accuracy. A subscription unlocks many of the features, but the annual cost is quite reasonable all things considered. Besides, supporting any developer and the future of good apps only makes sense.
mks1,
Best Weather app
For both my phone and my watch! Especially my watch! It just keeps getting better, I purchased the lifetime membership and all the updates just keep coming. Every few weeks I open this app and there are good usable updates. I believe in supporting the people behind some of these apps. Weathergraph might be the best purchase I made for my phone and my watch. I believe he will continue to make this app better. He seems excited about what he does and I’m happy for that and happy to support him!
