AndriaJones,
Great start, 2 requests
This app has proven very useful for predicting my migraine attacks and preparing accordingly, and for that I am grateful. I do have 2 requests that would get me to 5 stars:
-An Apple Watch app, preferably with complications so we can have the forecast where we will see it often without opening the app (a widget for iPhone would also be great). I am willing to pay for this feature, and have in fact paid for other weather apps hoping they would give me this, but which have proven to be less useful.
-I wish the scale for the graphs was constant, rather than changing to fit the data. This makes the biggest changes in each time period all look the same, when one week there may be very large changes, but another they may all be relatively small. The threshold markers are helpful, but this would make the data easier to interpret more intuitively.
plantbrain,
First Headache in 20 yrs Went Away
So, I’m on my second month of using these plugs and have learned through trial and error what works. Don’t wait until you have symptoms, look at the forecast or alerts and take them seriously. Always wear plugs when traveling from city to city. Look at the data to determine at what level you get migraines. My migraines seem to occur when the barometric pressure drops. Three times I have gotten a mild headache that WENT AWAY, which hasn’t happened for 20 yrs. I used to get headaches that got worse and worse. Also, these are NOT sound blocking and no one even knows I’m wearing them. Today, I wore from 7-11am and 1-3 pm because of the data from the app. I have to sleep on my back if I wear at night for comfort. Every week, I travel out of town and the pressure was so stable last week that I didn’t wear for 3 days. My life is much better without headaches, nausea and fatigue. I have only had to take my sumatriptan once and within 10 minutes I felt fine so I kinda wish I held out. I would much rather pop in the plugs then pop a pill. So, stay diligent and use the information provided by app. I love not going through life wondering how I’ll feel. Finally, the things that I thought were triggers have not triggered anything. For years, people in healthcare have known weather can cause headaches, but there wasn’t anything to use. These have been wonderful and worth the diligence.
Baphomette1313,
Finally! I can confidently make/keep plans.
I have to admit that I don’t have migraines, but I have severe rheumatoid arthritis. Barometric pressure affects my joint pain more than any other outside factor. If I can’t predict a major swing, no treatment helps enough after the pain happens for me to function. It’s ruined so many plans in my life and I’m too young to be laid up all arthritic. WeatherX allows me to either prep in time or plan around major swings. If it affects migraines like RA, you need this. I had such a hard time finding a source of accurate info specifically showing differences in barometric pressure, since another major weather app removed theirs. My husband ran into this app, but I regrettably ignored him for awhile because I don’t suffer migraines. Out of desperation, I finally checked it out and haven’t looked back. Since you can set your threshold for notifications, it’s not annoying, just a lifesaver. I can’t comment on the ear plugs, but if migraines are as tied to pressure as RA, I’m sure they’d change lives. I wish I had a simple solution like that! I’d give this app 6 stars if I could.
tennis07,
Life changing/saving!!!
For someone who suffers from IIH (Idiopathic Intracranial Hypertension), Osteoanecrosis(AVN), Rheumatoid Arthritis/Sjögren’s, and Chronic Migraines, the slightest changes in barometric pressure affects the hypertension in my head thus affecting my IIH and Migraines, as well as the Osseous-pressure in my Necroting bones and my RA and vascular pressure affecting my sjogrens, let’s just say it plays a HUGE role in my life.
Having data that can help predict changes and shifts which then allows me to pre-treat, helps me to try and salvage what I know is going to be a rough time ahead. Any bit of relief helps and I am EXTREMELY thankful and grateful for those keeping this app going and updated!!
I please Please PLEASE ask if the developer could make this into a Apple Watch App as well where in the middle of the infograph faces we can see and track the barometric pressures and their changes! If not, then at least an app that can be added on to the Apple Watch iWatch!
People with Migraines/RA, try this App out and follow it and pre-treat with your doctors recommendation of course and see if it helps! I know it has helped me to have some quality of life back!
Thank you WeatherX!!!!!!!!
GoldenMaiden,
Love the idea what’s up with the data and customer service?
The idea of this app and the ear plugs is amazing. Thank you for bringing it into a useable platform. However, now having used it for a few months there are some discrepancies and inconsistencies that make these notifications and data unusable. While the data is presented in a user friendly way- the yo ing shift page and the more detailed page (that shows hourly future and past shift changes) rarely match or even add up. Example It will say an increasing shift of .11 at 8 pm and then when looking under the current hourly shifts starting around 8 pm it will not show that ( in this case showing and .05 shift over the next couple hours). That doesn’t add up! How am I supposed to determine my shift sensitivity with such inaccurate information? I reached out to customer service and got an automatic reply to the Q&A and told I’d get a response in the 1-2 business day time frame. One week later nothing. I would absolutely love the data to match up and actually be able to use it to help my brain and headaches! So far it’s just a broken hope.
smlas,
Need to fix new look
I like the new look of the app. However, I would like to make a suggestion. The new look should have the current pressure on the home page. Currently it is listed at the bottom page of the Care tab or icon. That info is “far” from the home page. The home page currently lists all the thresholds that are current and shifts that will be in the next hour and days. Well that information doesn’t really do any good if the current pressure is not known. I think the current pressure should be listed on the home page as well with the forecasted shifts. If shouldn’t be on another tab, and then have to scroll to the bottom page at that. For me what I really want to know is what is the pressure RIGHT NOW. The app doesn’t give RIGHT NOW when you open it. Forecasted shifts go to know but it doesn’t help with the NOW. Please move current pressure back to the home page.

The previous look was much better. For that I give rating two stars.
Collinstwin13,
App shows no data sometimes
Like other, I have found this app to be very useful for migraine. However, sometimes I get the forecast for days out, showing drops in pressure…then I wake up and the app shows absolutely no data! It will say that there are no upcoming shifts. I can look out my window right now and know that there is a shift coming, or was one, because I physically see a storm. So, why does it give me no shift data, for the forecast or “last week”? I delete the app and reinstall it and it says the same thing. And this isn’t a one-time thing, but a frequent occurrence. This really needs to be fixed. Also, be mindful of the size ear plugs that you order. If you’re a small person (like me), you may need the kid-sizes ear plugs (like I do). The regular size are too big.
jennatar,
aggressive popup kinda ruins it
Recently I started experiencing extreme pressure in my head (like a plane is descending, but constant). I downloaded this app, I liked it, and then my husband bought me several pairs of the corresponding earplugs.

But now when I open the app there is an uncloseable “nag” popup demanding that I “register,” and I can’t see any barometric forecasts, which are trapped underneath the popup. The only button that works is the one labeled “register now,” which takes the user to an opt-in for WeatherX’s promotional emails. There’s no way to leave the registration screen without entering an email, either, so from there you have to force-close the app. (I haven’t entered an email because I have no guarantee the nag won’t popup every time.) When you reopen the app, the popup covering the info is back in place.

The notifications are still definitely helpful, but I’m sad that I can no longer plan out my week according to the app’s forecasts. It’s a bummer.
paolishopper,
Long Time Migraine Sufferer
I am in my mid-60’s and was diagnosed at age 4 with migraine after I passed out with an abdominal migraine. My history is such that I have been hospitalized from them and get them so severely that I can vomit from them for 24+ hours. As I’ve gotten older, I am aware of the connection to weather changes and while I was skeptical at first, I bought the MigraineX earplugs and downloaded the app. I think that it helps me. I’m just a little over a month using them and I think that the system helps me even without medication. I generally sleep with the MigraineX earplugs in to prevent the dreaded 2:00-3:00 am migraines which immediately call for medication. I think that the app and plugs have impacted the frequency of my migraines and I have been diagnosed as a chronic migraine sufferer.
Ali Gia,
They help migraines but…
I thought my doctor would think I was crazy when I told him my migraines with vertigo hit whenever the weather changed. Imagine my surprise when he told me it was a thing and that there were earplugs for it! So I tried them.

Well, they do help. The problem is that they can become very uncomfortable after a while, and sometimes in a very short while. And by uncomfortable I mean painful. The regulars were too big for me, and switching to small did help but only so much because those ridges just dig in to my ear canals. Adjusting them doesn’t help most times and sometime makes it worse.

In order for them to work, though, they need to be “snug”, and if I want to be able to walk like I’m sober then the earplugs are the better option.
