BoblK,
Decent but needs work regarding User Friendliness
I like the app but there are a number of shortcomings. If those are addressed then this could be on of the best apps on the market Queue. Need a simple way to delete the entire Play Queue. Right now it is one song at a time. Playlists. No easy way to generate a playlist with at least listening to a part of each song in the list. Album Art. This app falls short in the display of album art. Many album art is correctly displayed but one in a while you cannot figure out why some of them do not display. The exact same files display correctly in other Streaming software When displaying an entire album I see four album art covers. Why? When displaying a single playing song the Album Art is correctly displayed. The exact same album art displays correctly in other streaming platforms. So the problems with album artwork seems to fall in the way the software handles it. Fix these issues and this will be one of the best platforms on the market. Still a work in progress. One other thing regarding creating Playlists. You cannot include an entire album in a playlist yet.

Update. The WiiM App continues to improve. I have increased my rating to 4 Stars. You can now add an entire album with a single keystroke. You can delete the Play Queue with two keystrokes. One to delete, one to confirm the deletion. Album Art displays like it should.
The WiiM Team continues to work hard for the Users.
BLthe808,
Good App, but room for improvement
Am enjoying the sound quality from my WiiM Pro, which I set up to stream mainly from my QNAP NAS, with a Schiit Modi DAC, to a vintage integrated amp. The user interface, thus app, is good but still missing some features.

Setup via the app was simple and fast, which is a big plus. Was up and running in a couple of minutes. I have a Plex server set up on my NAS with dlna support and was easily able to stream my music.

Areas for improvement:
It’s missing gapless playback for dlna but my understanding is that it’s coming.

It doesn’t support existing playlists, though to be fair, other apps don’t either. As playlists need to be re-created, it’s a little inconvenient, and worse, looks like playlists created are only saved on the device they are created on. In my case, I created a playlist on my iPhone, so when switching to my iPad, the playlist was not there. Would be great if the playlists can be shared across devices.

No landscape mode for now playing. My goal was to display songs playing via my iPad which I would sit on table next to my stereo, but only works in portrait, but for a tablet, landscape would be much better.

Looking forward to more updates.
Schmaviles,
The perfect streamer for me…
I wanted a streamer for my home stereo system that wasn’t dependent on my mobile phone. I also didn’t want to spend hundreds of dollars for something I can get with an app. The Wiim mini streamer checked all of my boxes. It was easy to set up and use. Love the ability to stream in HD and Hi-res. (Yes, I can hear the difference, although it is subtle.) The App is relatively straightforward and responsive as long as my wifi signal is strong. My phone now acts as the remote control only so I don’t have to hear notifications on my loudspeakers. I have had issues with my wifi previously but my new service seems to be holding up much better and with that I’ve been able to really enjoy all of the benefits of streaming audio through the Wiim. Great value for the price. Strongly recommend. Five stars overall
TECK13,
Very solid perfromance in conjunction with Qobuz
The WiiM app makes it super straightforward to setup a WiiM device. Overall, it performs great. I use it almost exclusively with Qobuz. App is responsive and fast, clean nicely designed interface, conveys all the critical information - album art, tracks and tracking playing, resolution of track. Search is easy but not very robust (i.e., no filter options). Settings also easy to access and change. I don't use them, but nice to have options to control volume and equalization (10 band) with the app. App not perfect, it doesn't offer all the album/editorial content and details of the standalone Qobuz app. But for controlling streamed music to the WiiM device it is really solid.
Bob-4434489,
WiiM app interface
I find the interface, designed for WiiM streaming, but be a pleasure to use. It's much more intuitive than most, and as an A/V installer, for 40 years, having done Sonos, Bluesound, ROON, a bargain and an extremely easy to use design.
Especially when teaching an non HiFi user, of streaming devices to be a pleasure.
Only complaint, is ROON & SoundCloud not being available except through Apple Music, which seems to be a correction in the horizon.
Thanks again, for an affordable streaming device, to allow both surround and typical stereo systems, to jump into 21 century, at a bargain cost, and easy to use.
Looking forward to updates as to music streaming services.
SonyAlphaShooter,
Almost as good as BluOS
I’ve considered adding another streamer to my office system but could not justify spending $$ on another Blue Sound Node. Was using an AudioEngine B-FI but the app, also by LinkPlay is horrible. Tidal delivers my music to my restored vintage systems. Took delivery on a WiiM Mini on sale a few weeks back. Although I use Tidal Connect most of the time, this app is almost identical to BluOS. Very user friendly. It’s missing integration with a some BluOS native services. (EDIT: last update Radio Paradise was added. Thank you!) Not an issue, they can be streamed via AirPlay, so no big deal. BTW for best SQ hook your mini to an external DAC. I use a Modi3.
Jim Boulevard,
Wiim Mini is really a Value Maxi
This little $99 streamer is a highly supported product that delivers hifi music streaming and multi-room music for cheap! This full-functioned app is exceptional in its ease of use and flexibility. It now has an EQ! The developers keep updating the app to do more and more! I wouldn’t be surprised if this app is updated soon to make the Wiim Mini a surprise robot vacuum! Well, maybe not, but they sure keep making improvements to make the Wiim Mini a really good investment in a hifi rig or extra bedroom system! Certainly a surprisingly great product and app!
PurpleReviews999,
Very poorly designed Wi-Fi
It’s neither reasonable nor acceptable to need to reboot the router every time this device loses a connection to the network. I have nearly 50 devices connnected and NONE other than WiiM requires this. Most simply restart and reconnect automatically (after power failures for example).

I have now spent 3 hours trying to reconnect — initially it said it was connected, but wouldn’t play anything. Now, after multiple reboots and factory reset, it will not connect to network.

This is the level of tech I would have expected (but not accepted) in the 1990s. In 2023, this company won’t survive with hardware and software that works this badly.

The troubleshooting steps are nonsense. The assumption is user error, not faulty product design. I’m not the only one encountering these issues per online forums, but the company has literally done nothing to fix the problem or weigh in with a workaround, or suggested steps to get things working, other than to reboot the router. As noted above, that should be the absolute last resort, and it should actually achieve something if suggested. For WiiM, it’s the only action suggested, and it doesn’t work.
Sergiocwp,
Perfect streamer for my needs
This device has allowed me to incorporate a streamer into my system without spending hundreds of dollars. Yet, I don’t feel like I’m missing much from say a bluesound node. I get clean crisp sound from my preset radio stations and my tidal application. And when I feel like listening to my Apple Music, I connect easily via airplay 2. Can’t say enough about the application, easy to use and intuitive.

One request, I would love the play/pause button on the presets screen.

Thanks
Rwinkdopey,
It’s okay
The app seems to be getting better with each release.
One item I wish that they would add, is the ability to change input settings on the play screen.
Interestingly, enough, you can change output settings from the play screen, but not input settings.
I do like how the remote has the ability to change input settings, but with the app currently you have to go into the settings for the device, select input settings, then make changes.
It would also be nice if they added the ability to directly play Apple Music.
