Shalayna R.,
Incredible
I'm obsessed with the art style of this game. It reminds me a lot of the Rusty Lake games, which are some of my absolute favorites, with just the right amount and right kind of weird. I loved playing this, I just hate that it was so short. However, good things take time so I'll most definitely be on the lookout for a game update or new release, I love it.
Ratthews,
Great game, lack of a tutorial and confusing controls
I played this game on desktop and it's wonderful, so of course, when I saw it on the App Store late at night I decided to play through it again! However, I ended up just downloading and then deleting the game, as the minimal instructions on how to actually advance made the game essentially unplayable.

After pressing the play button, I was simply stuck on the screen with no way to move back or forward. I don't know if anyone else has had this same issue, as I haven't found any reviews or solutions that address this problem.

I do think this is a lovely game, it has an intriguing story and the art style is beautiful, but having a more thorough tutorial in my opinion would be a welcome improvement as causing confusion at the start of a game is a good way to turn off new players who have no prior knowledge going into the experience.
smjjames,
Maybe reduce the black border size on iPad?
I had to check it on iPhone to be sure whether it was a bug or simply the style. Turns out it’s the style, but the bars on the top and bottom are WAY bigger on iPad and don’t look as good just some constructive criticism here.

Edit: interesting game, would be nice if there was more than just the one short chapter to play with though.
Default User 2,
Short but sweet!
Puzzles are challenging and interesting with haunting audio and beautiful art. My only complaint is that the game is quite short and has little replay value if you can still remember how to solve each puzzle. All in all, recommended!
Bobbystiych13,
Great start!
This could turn out to be really good. Kinda feels like a Rusty Lake game. The quiet atmosphere and bleak setting are both big pluses, and the emphasis on family tradition and folklore make the story rather compelling.
The only complaint I have is that it’s so darn short! But hey, its only Part 1. And it’s free, so my complaint is probably a rather petty one. Hope the next part comes out soon before I forget what’s going on, lol.
wksmac,
Worth a look
Short and engaging point-and-click style game. May seem confusing at first cause there are minimal instructions bit persevere a bit and you’ll understand how it works - not the most intuitive of interfaces but I’ve seen worse. Medium/easy level difficulty for puzzle so ok for kids but the theme itself may require some monitoring. Overall not too bad

If You Love Rusty Lake..
...you’ll love this. Yes, it’s short, but it is eerie and a bit unnerving, which work well together. Puzzles are almost a bit too easy, but I also give credit for the unsettling atmosphere. Can’t wait foe future installments.
Breakfastrider,
Great debut for an indie production
As others have mentioned, the game is a little on the short side. But it held my interest from start to finish, and the puzzles were, for the most part, based on common sense logic. Reminiscent of the Rusty Lake series of games, it provided a burst of entertainment for a brief period of time. Looking forward to downloading and trying the sequel.
KenzieCupcake,
by short I mean SHORT
Took about 10 mins of casual exploratory playhrough! I would been hooked if this were a free demo for a $3 part 2 (assuming pt 2 is more satisfying).

The puzzles are clever and easy with good variety. If you get stuck frequently in other puzzlers, this one may be the perfect difficulty for you.

The art and sound design are great. The atmospheric track is unsettling and the user interaction sound effects are satisfying and seamless. In longer game, the expositional reading the story relies on would be cumbersome.

Overall a heartfelt but brief experience that could only come from an indie developer who loves their craft.
Blichty,
Great short game
Totally worth the 99 pennies. Think Cube Escape with a slightly different look and a few extra areas to explore. Game mechanics are solid, puzzles are challenging but not unsolvable. I played Winterlore 2 as well and now I’d love to see #3.
