SJA77707,
Not very good at all
Usually don’t write reviews. Something has to be really good or bad to get me to spend any of my time writing. This app and speakers are conceptually a great alternative to more expensive solutions. You get what u pay for holds true in this case. In the Apple environment it does not function very well. Will not play Apple music. Yes it is not advertised to have that functionality. You have to download songs to your iPhone music app for the music to play. Not a good setup if you keep your music in the cloud rather than keeping all those files on your device. Setting up wifi, bluetooth is not seamless and takes quite a bit of fiddling, time to get to work. Once set up the speakers do produce good sound and offer decent control at each speaker. Dropped connections are a problem. Listening to three of them now via wifi. Within 20 ft of my router and they just dropped their connection as is common with these. Yes I am running the latest version of the app, ios and firmware on the speakers. Not worth my time anymore.
WTREEOAK,
Samsung failed us 🤷🏼‍♂️
Long story short, this app has never worked properly even since the release of the first R1 and so on speakers. Numerous amounts of phone calls to tech support over the years... they didn’t even know what app I was talking about...🙄
Then toward the end (a few months ago) started saying they could put in a ticket to the developers but after five of those, no luck...
I’ve never had a good connection using the Multiroom App over WiFi. It would play a few songs, then freak out. Sometimes, it would log me out of connected accounts and then take forever to fix. Also, it’s not functional with Apple Music unless the music through iTunes is purchased. Meaning, no subscription for Apple Music can be played... most likely because of some stupid contract...
It’s literally a hassle with Samsung. I have a really nice tv that was over $3,000 when purchased. Worked great for a year, then they stopped updating the smart apps so it’s basically useless without a fire stick or cable...
After having my R1 speakers and this app for over five years, I upgraded to Sonos. Haven’t had an issue once!
Fredke007,
Add new speaker - BROKEN COMPLETELY on iOS
As seems typical of Samsung, anything of important detail or critical importance to their users, just doesn’t work at all on iOS.
Say one of your wireless R3 speakers isn’t showing up correctly in this app. You need to reset the speaker and add it as a new speaker to get it to be part of the surround’s left or right rear set behind your Samsung sound bar. Well if your Mobile device happens to be the bastard child one from ... sush .. Apple, you my friend have chosen unwisely. Try and try and try as instructed to join the SAMSUNG wifi on the WiFi setup, then return to this app, and ... ... nothing. The app simply is braindead. Kind of like the decision makers at SAMSUNG, who believe that a great product is only worth launching, not worth maintaining and supporting, especially on that very odd Apple operating system.
To ANY iOS user considering getting anything of SAMSUNG accessory that may need to be run or configured by your phone - just don’t do it. SAMSUNG really seriously doesn’t care at all IF it works, and obviously never tests and maintains any of their products after the splash of initial release. Trust me. I know.
ahommel,
Incredible potential, Very poor functionality
I never write reviews but I am fed up with this app. Normally I would just get a different app that performs the same function, but Samsung has me backed into a proprietary corner. If the bugs were worked out it would be incredibly convenient and functional, but it only works correctly 15%-20% of the time. I even provided feedback with my problems via the app and have not heard a word from anyone. I refuse to spend hours on the phone trying to troubleshoot something I paid a lot of money for. The speakers and sound bar actually sound nice, on the off chance you get to hear something coming from them. Do not depend on this app to provide functionality for your Samsung speakers. If you buy the speakers and plug them in via hardware then they might work for you. Otherwise, put your money towards something that works.
WildWildWill,
This is a piece of garbage
I normally don’t write reviews but I want to get this off my chest. I own a 2018 Samsung smart tv and a MS 650 sound bar with the subwoofer and rear surround kit added. The touted capabilities of me being able to control the soundbar with Alexa are almost nonexistent. I can turn off the tv (not on) and turn on and off the sound bar. All other controls that are in the manual don’t work and my Echo says “device does not support that” whenever I attempt to use commands listed in the user manual. This MultiRoom app in particular is terrible with all of the other sources besides my phone not showing up on the app( it initially supported other sources but no longer. I regret buying into the Samsung device ecosystem.
MiamiMichael,
App has Massive Glitch and Failure in iOS 15 Revering it Non-Functional
Used this years ago with my 6 wifi connected speakers but when I recently opened to use it again, the app has failed and been unreliable. The app closes itself out and t he coding needs to be reviewed to see what’s causing this. Additionally, please release update with a scaled background within the app that’s for larger devices screens (like as the max and pro versions of the iPhone). Will change and adjudged my review from 1 start to 5 or 4 stars once these glitches have been resolved and the app works again. Will check the App Store for updates/releases. Thanks in advance.
jasagain,
Originally worked great !!
Loved the app and speakers initially and now wish I had never spent the money on these speakers.

The app and speakers were fantastic when first purchased about 3 years ago. The app worked and speakers sinked quickly and played flawlessly.

Since the release of the new app we now have had all the same issues as others with dropped speakers, connection issues and now the app is no longer able to find and connect to any of the four speakers. I can blue tooth to them however can only run one at a time. What a disappointment and lots of money spent and hours wasted for something that no longer works.

What is wrong with tech these days? It never works and takes hours of frustration to try and make it work, until the next update is pushed then back to square one and all the frustration.
Looks like I will have to go back to playing LPs.
Hardwired speakers and old tech works every time with only one set up….
gjames00,
Latest version worse not better
I almost never write reviews but if anyone on the MultiRoom team is listening, whatever you did with the latest app version, it is more buggy than ever on an iPhone 7 Plus (with latest iOS). Extremely frustrating!! App repeatedly freezes or times out so I have to keep closing it, re-opening and waiting for it to load before I can again control sound or stations. That happened occasionally with the previous version of the app but now it is constant and multiple times a day. Maybe there’s an incompatibility with the latest iOS but it’s really unforgivable performance.
PLEASE FIX THIS!!!!
Ptzes,
Hate it
Spent $240 on this speaker!!! The app is terrible, I have an iPhone X and it takes 5 mins just for the app to open. The main reason I got it was for it’s WiFi capability, have several WiFi smart speakers by sonos and had no problem connected them to my WiFi it was a 30 second process. As for my Samsung R3 speaker, that’s far from the case it will not connect to my WiFi at all, I moved the speaker right next to my modem and still not connecting. I really want to use this speaker because I have the Samsung smart tv and it can connect wirelessly. Come on Samsung this is an expensive speaker this ought to be the easiest set up ever. Contact me!!!!
schlackability,
Poor excuse of controlling costly devices
I have 3 R1’s & Samsung Q70 tv...
Communication btwn these devices is poor & app is No help. After listening to music on the R1’s via this app for 10 minutes, if I want to change the song I have to close the app, reopen it, join the speakers Again! Then I can change the song.
So, wish I spent my money on 2 Sanos instead.
If you people ever did proper R&D with this app you’d know the limitations & make it right... thus not have to inquire how bad it performs. All one can assume is you don’t care about what you’ve already sold thus I doubt you’ll ever do anything to make this app better. Greedy ( )
