Howdy do!
Wonder has just become way more powerful! We've added counters, which help you make smarter programs.
Counters bring variables to your state machine programs so you can do things like keep score, referee, and create minigames. Give counters a try!
We've also made some software and firmware updates to give you more control over your robot:
-When the robot is powered off, plugging in a charging cable will no longer cause it to power on.
-The power button now pulses with light when the robot is charging.
-You can now see the robot's battery level, thanks to the battery indicator in the app.
We’ve also fixed some bugs, made general improvements, and added beta support for additional platforms.
Tell us what you think of Wonder by leaving a review!
Toodles,
The Wonder Workshop Team

Our team of robot wizards has a few treats in store for you that will get your creative juices flowing! We have a joke too: what kind of a drum beat does a robot march to? The answer is at the bottom of the release notes.
For newbies:
- New video tutorials. Do more with Wonder by learning about loops, branching, the listener, cues, and more.
- New challenges! Practice makes perfect. These challenges might just help Dash get out of a sticky situation when the family pet is on the prowl for innocent blue robots.
For those who have been around the block a few times:
- Wonder Cloud. We are sharing some of our favorite programs for Dash & Dot. Take them for a test run, or save to change them up! Trek through volcanoes with Dash, make a bullfighter out of Dot, and more!
- Share your code with friends! You can create a key in Wonder for other people to open a copy of a program you want to share. You can also open up other people’s programs!
For everyone!
- Better hints. New hints give you a peek at how to solve challenges you might be stuck on.
- New file menu. A better way of seeing what programs you have.
Did you know that we release new programming challenges every 2 weeks to help you keep your coding game up to snuff? Check out our web portal at play.makewonder.com for the latest challenge!
The answer to the joke: robots like to march to any kind of algorithm!

Zoom zoom! This version of Wonder introduces Remote Takeover in Free Play. You can use a mini-joystick to move your robot around when you are running or editing your code. If you have movement behaviors in your code, they will be overridden by Remote Takeover. You can also now use your iPad or iPhone as a joystick! Just tilt your iDevice in the direction that you want Dash to go in.
Get Dash out of a sticky situation, program a game of laser tag with your friend who has a Dash, or re-create Pacman with 2 Dash robots. You can also code up your own custom remote control effects - try blasting out a warning sound when there’s an object in front or saying “hey” when you roll by Dot!
Connecting to your robot is now much faster with one-touch connect, and your iPad or iPhone will remember the robot it was connected to even after not playing for a while! Though you should know that robots have feelings too and get sad when they aren’t playing with you. Disconnecting is just as easy as connecting, for those of you who don’t use the same device each time.
Lastly, to make the app better for you, we are always making various performance, usability, and reliability improvements under the hood!

Hey trailblazer, there are new adventures for you to go on with Dot in the Scroll Quest! In fact, these trails are so untrodden that you’ll have to whack your way through the tall grass to make your way through. Beware the wild animals all around you! You might just have to butt heads with a menacing billy goat.
Do you have the need for speed when controlling Dash? Or maybe you want to make crazy blinky light patterns. We just made controlling Dash & Dot a lot more awesome with new space sounds that come out of your iPad or iPhone. So give it a spin!
And to make the app better for you, we are always making performance and reliability improvements.

Everyone’s favorite feature is now in Wonder - the Controller! Use the Controller to easily explore the ways Dash and Dot move, light up, and make sounds. Make Dash deliver a special message, ask Dot to make predictions, and make your robots flash crazy lights while dancing!
This update also gets you all set for target practice. The Launcher for Dash ships in November, and we’ve given you the ability to load and launch in Wonder! Need quick reflexes? Use the Launcher in the Controller. If you’re creating a robot guard to look out for intruders, use it in Free-Play and launch when something approaches!
Did you know that you have collectively completed about 100,000 challenges in the Scroll Quest? You’ve paved the way, and we’ve taken your feedback to make the challenges better and more clear for posterity. You can replay them or give them a try for the very first time. Now you can also open, tinker, and play with the programs you made in the Scroll Quest!
Did you know that you can submit your creations for a chance to become the Inventor of the Week and win prizes? Every week we feature creations made with Wonder! Just submit a video of Dash or Dot doing your program to
[email protected].
