With this update we enable you to:
1. Switch off our dictionary pop-up box in settings. This can be helpful if you are using only Apple’s device dictionaries and not Woodpecker’s.
2. Show only Mandarin videos which have a Traditional Chinese character stream. All our videos for Mandarin learners have a Simplified Chinese character stream and most have a Traditional Chinese character stream as well but some don’t. If you are learning Chinese with traditional characters and only want to see videos with Traditional Chinese character subtitles, then go to settings and enable this.
If you have an iPad then genres for Netflix in the Unlimited Player are now in your device language for those languages that we support.
We also squashed a lot of bugs.

Filter channels by country to hear videos in that accent easily!
From the video homescreen, touch "Channels" or "Teachers", then scroll the topics bar to the far right to select countries. Country/region ISO codes are listed to choose and filter the channels in the list.

Great for all levels
My friend is using it for beginning level English, I use it for advanced Chinese. Find content with a voice you want to emulate, repeat individual sentences and see definitions of words you don’t know - extremely helpful to develop your voice and vocab in your target language.

I love this app! Great approach!
I just started using this app for Mandarin, and love it! The contemporary contextual approach of incorporating popular media and user generated content reminds me of the more accessible and successful language classes that I’ve encountered at the university level in mainland China and elsewhere.

It’s alright
It’s not a terrible app but I feel pretty dang mislead being told I can learn languages and I only have three options to learn from and two of them are Chinese and the other English which is the language I already speak!🙃 it would have been awesome to actually be offered more than just three options if the app is going to be pitched to me under the guise of learning any language.

Nice language learning app--great for high intermediate level
What it does is take videos from popular sources and give you immediate access to the subtitles while streaming the show. The subtitles allow you to quickly save words and when paused allow you to look up the translation. In some cases you can get subtitles in English and Chinese at the same time. There is also a 5 second rewind and a skip back to previous subtitle. The second one is hit or miss but it's great when it works. The app is currently my favorite languages learning app. Look forward to where they go with it in the future.
