Pretty Impressed
I'm pretty impressed with this app. It has different levels so the app grows with the child. One of my frustrations in finding educational apps is that they are too basic for my son, or too advanced. I want to be pushing him and making him try things he doesn't fully know, but don't want to utterly frustrate him. That's a fine line, and this app allows you and your child to find that line. My son is 4, and this app is perfect for him.

Play & Learn
My 3 year old loves spelling words (level III) and receiving the golden stars after building his list. It's easy for him to navigate through all the features. This app makes it feel more like play than learning to him. I definitely recommend this app to others.

Great game for spelling/phonics
My four year old son loves to play Word Wagon. He has learned to spell many new words while having fun doing it.

Very useful tool to help autistic children learn to talk
Duck Duck Moose puts out some very nice apps at a wholesale price....Word Wagon is no exception.
Fish School and Itsy Bitsy Spider are home runs if you haven't checked them out.

Word Wagon is a unique drag n drop spelling app because it teaches phonics at the same time as spelling / letters.
The app visually illustrates which letters of the word make up the phonic while emphasizing each sound.

I can't express how useful this app could be for an autistic child. It is extremely difficult to help moderate to severe autistics make visual / auditory connections surrounding speech...largely because they avoid eye contact with everyone all the time. This app is no miracle cure, but I know for a fact that my son has learned the alphabet and numbers 1-20 through the itunes store. He has gained self confidence and an innate ability to navigate electronics (at least those designed by apple).

Yes, this app is in iphone low resolution, but who cares? It is a useful tool for a child, not a movie.

If you haven't already, buy your autistic toddler a numberless 32gb iphone, a 64gb first gen ipad and this app from Duck Duck Moose.
It's the cheapest, most effective private language school for autistics that you're ever going to find. Your child is worth it.
brasileirinho,
My daughter will read sooner because of this app!
We have purchased all of Duck Duck Moose's apps as soon as they come out with no hesitation and in my opinion this is the most important and most educational app for toddlers/preschoolers. We were shocked when our daughter (almost 2) started reciting letters and trying to phonetically sound out virtually every word she sees soon after she started playing with this app. Obviously she is still a long way from reading on her own but this app has instilled necessary reading skills at a very early age and there is no doubt in my mind that she will read at an earlier age because of these skills. She has also learned dozens of new words and it keeps her occupied. What more could you ask for? Keep the great apps coming and we will keep buying them.

Not their best work
We have all of the Duck Duck Moose apps, and they are all beautiful, colorful, and well-designed. This one is thin on content compared to Park Math or Fish School.

We bought it for phonics training, but that aspect is very limited. There are no games that practice letter-sound correspondence, just the repetitive act of visually matching letter shapes with lettered blanks to spell a word. The act of dragging letters into lettered blanks is the only activity in the entire game, aside from the cute playful animations.

The game needs to add an activity where, for example, the child hears "buh" and needs to choose a B. Until it offers activities that focus on letter-sound pairings, I think it's unfair to say it teaches phonics. It simply incorporates some phonics on the side of its spelling game.

Word Wagon
When you want something to occupy a little one and you don't want to feel guilty, Word Wagon is an excellent choice! My almost 3 year old granddaughter loves this app which she "plays" when we are in the car. The graphics are very colorful and interesting to hold her attention and she is learning to spell while she is having fun. The multiple levels are convenient for various developmental levels. As a health care provider as well as a grandmother, I highly recommend this app to anyone with preschoolers.

One Great App
This app is great. My 4 year old navigates it with ease and enjoys it immensely. My 8 yr. Old has reading trouble and it is wonderful for her and holds her interest too. I introduced this app to the reading specialist at our school and she is getting it for the iPod Touches she uses in class. Good Stuff!

Learn letters and sounds
We love Duck Duck Moose! We're so happy to see a new one. This app has great characters, and is a great way to introduce kids to words and spelling. Kids put letters in order, and then the app shows them the sounds of the letters.
