Better than nothing
I just want to say that compared to having to app at all, this is way better. While you can't get as many features as I would hope from a professional audio company (I do know that almost all of there Bluetooth product are not professional, and that the app isn't meant for professional's) it is pretty handy that you pretty easily change your devices name, type of Bluetooth signals, and your current battery life, I feel like the 1 hour update for my headphones, and the fact that there's no equalizer/any audio costomization at all for my headphones (I have the Mx50bt) is pretty disappointing. Saying that, I am still happy that there is any app at all.

Simply Abysmal
For a high-end audio company, you wouldn’t think it after this app. No EQ adjustment for my $200+ headphones? I’m sorry, is this 1995? Even Sennheiser has that available for its $40 earbuds. A 90 minute firmware update only to then tell me to plug it into a computer to complete? You need to inform the user about requiring a computer for updates BEFORE it starts otherwise I wouldn’t have rendered my headphones useless for this 4 hour trip! How did this not occur to anyone before pushing the update? You had time to make that ridiculous diagram showing how to push all three side-buttons, the janky-at-best touch pad, AND your phone screen all at the same time as a step in the update process. Can’t wait for to not be able to use them at my destination either. The power switch is software based so with a functionally bricked headset I can’t even turn it off!
Just way too many quality of life features (that are pretty basic I’d say) are missing and I’m very disappointed.

Intuitive app; LOVE Parametric EQ!
I use the AT-Connect app with two different pairs of headphones - the over-ear ATH-M50X50BT2 (Lantern Glow) and the true wireless ATH-CKS50TW. The app functions are very similar, and for both models there’s a customizable graphic EQ in addition to presets. Only the M50BT2 has the additional parametric EQ, which is great & really allows the knowledgeable user to adjust the sound on a more granular level. I wish Audio Technica would include the parametric option for its earbuds, too! Regardless, it is among the best of these kinds of apps.

“Side Tone” randomly keeps turning on.
I have the ATH-M50xBT2 and the app works fine but the Side Tone(where you hear your voice on Siri, dictation and phone calls) randomly keeps turning on. The app is suppose to save all of the setting to the headphones, and I wonder if all of the mods I made via this app like equalizer settings, etc. are being lost as well.
In my opinion, the Side Tone sounds awful and I never want to use it because it sounds grainy/scratchy and maybe delayed. So it’s really annoying when it keeps turning on. Sony’s more expensive 1000xM4’s version of side tone(not sure what they call it) is much better sounding, so I know it can be done better and I hope Audio-Technica can upgrade the Side Tone quality and fix it so it stops randomly turning on.
Sidenote: I do love the overall sound quality of my ATH-M50xBT2 headphones! I prefer their sound over any Bluetooth headphones I have listened to(The equalizer in this app helped me get the sound that I totally enjoy )Thank you Audio-Technica!

ATH-SR50BT Headphones connect to my phone just fine and you are able to control a few options that make the use of customizable options. It’s nothing crazy, but it works, which makes it a much better experience! GO AUDIO TECHNICA! You listened!

App is great but almost never needed.
While this app is great in its current capabilities, I agree which what some others have said about it need info to offer more then codec for audio controls. Also the fact that I need to use it to get the actual battery status because the battery status info the iPhone gets is only updated when the headphones first connect. I have gotten low battery alert from the headphones and checked battery status via the iPhone’s display ( in the widgets section) it never changes until I disconnect and re-connect.

Consistently Fails to Sync or Discover M50x
This app was able to connect to my M50x once. I disconnected the headphones from my iPhone X and connected to another device (Win10 laptop), upon reconnecting, the synchronization step always fails in the app, IF it’s able to detect the headphones at all (about 10% of the time, only after I’ve gone through the 5-ish step process of connect/disconnect/pair/unpair/off/on, etc)
Before going for a one-star review, I tried:
- turning headphones off and back on
- disconnecting and reconnecting headphones
- disconnecting and unpairing from all other devices
- uninstalling and reinstalling the app
- “forgetting” and reestablishing a pairing with the iPhone X
- being within 1m of the phone (mentioning this since this was the in-app troubleshooting advice- not very comprehensive)
So, the app for modifying headphone settings is unable to modify headphone settings, making it useless.
AT is doing right by encouraging us to abandon bluetooth, I suppose.

Good basic headphones app
(I have the m50xBT) It lets you chose between what codec you want, shows you your battery percentage, lets you update your firmware, and change your headphone’s name.

Why can’t it disable voice assistant?
One star review until I can disable the voice assistant button completely. I don’t need to accidentally call people when I take off my headphones since the button is way too easy to accidentally push. I had to change to using alexa, and that only works because I don’t have that app installed. It still annoys me with a voice telling me to install alexa, but better than calling random people on accident.

Great headphones, app is meh….
I love my ATH-M50XBT headphones! But I feel like the app could have more customization. Maybe a hearing test with test tones that analyzes your hearing and customizes the listening experience specifically for the individual listening. Or maybe an EQ with preset curves and customizable equalization. Either way the app seems lazy. The headphones are fantastic but the app is very lackluster. Update: Since the IOS 16 update this app will no longer sync up with my ATH-M50X headphones.
