English PhD Student,
If you like strategy, you won't regret spending money on this game
The first Auralux stayed on my phone forever. It's one of the best strategy games for the iPhone because of the deceiving simplicity of the concept. I say deceiving because there's nothing simple about the strategies you have to come up with in order to beat the game. It scratches the same itch as chess or Starcraft.

This second installment of the Auralux game series is better because the "DLC" style levels that you can purchase introduce new game dynamics that have been sparingly yet thoughtfully worked into level design. I dropped $10 to unlock them all and have not regretted it for an instant. I've been playing these levels exclusively for over a week, and I've barely made a dent in playing through all the content.
Defcon106,
Just like the first one
I played the first game and stopped because it became too impossible. The AI will always gang up on you and make it incredibly difficult to win just to try to teach you some specific strategy that is never explained very well. I only made it a couple of missions in this time before I’ve gotten bored. It’s a really cool concept, but if I’m always fighting at least two on one, it’s very boring very fast. It’s not even really a strategy game. Like you can try the same strategy the same exact way and the enemies always move at random, so it doesn’t matter what you do. You basically just have to wait until you get lucky enough for them to actually fight each other, which they will do to put on a show, but they will relentlessly attack you. There is no real way to build up or counter anything, it’s a numbers game. You can sit trying to build up, but if you are short on planets and don’t take them when they are exactly empty, you might as well restart if you ever have less, because it won’t matter. It lacks depth and strategic value and just isn't very fun past the first couple minutes.
Qiehebs,
It’s great but....
Now I don’t know if it’s just me but I’m logged into Game Center and this game refuses to keep progress, resetting every time when I close the app to preserve battery. This loss of progress is absolutely heartbreaking since I’ve completed every level in the Pegasus constellation over nine times total(not including replay before reset). And I’ve managed to reach top 10 in the leaderboards on several occasions but I reset and I lose that progress. Again, I don’t know if it’s just me or if other people are having this problem but it’s hurting the excitement of completing a constellation when you know you’ll just have to do it again.

There aren’t any in-game bugs I’ve experienced when it comes to actual game play and I’m perfectly fine with it since this is a continuation of Auralux, one of my favorite strategy games on mobile that doesn’t require constant log-ins and base building(specifically looking at you Clash of Clans) and it’s because of that freedom to do whatever, whenever that I love both of these games and the creators. Thanks to everyone who’s helped build these games, I’ve lost countless hours having fun because of you!
A_ham26,
Beautifully elegant game
Great game but you only get 1.5 constellations free and then have to buy each individual one after that. Make the game free and put adds on the bottom or something where they wouldn’t be bothersome or in the way. I think people would be fine with that. Even make the game cost $2 up front but the way you have to buy each level is a bad set up. Other than that this game is truly a masterpiece. Simple and beautiful. Full of strategy and planning. Many upgrades and improvements compared to the first version which was also fantastic btw. Great job just please change the way the payments are set up or make it free with ads. Honestly idk if I’d pay for it (I know a lot of people would tho, that’s just me) but I think you might make more off of ads cuz more people are willing to do that then pay for a game. I would make the first two constellations ad free and then incorporate them w/ constellations 3+ but offer an ad free version for $1-$2. One of my favorite games tho, plenty of replay value.
Mellowde,
Good game, terrible price
I really enjoy this game, but I have to say I'm rather frustrated at the pricing. I'm not sure who thought it would be a good idea to charge per constellation, but it completely feels like you're milking me for every nickel you can get. I would have happily bought this game at $5, as I imagine many would, but as it's priced, it's either $10 or $20 if you buy each constellation individually. No. I'm sorry, no. Know your market. This is not a $10 game, it is certainly not a $20 game. Whoever is proving this doesn't seem to understand basic economics. You are going to get FAR more people purchasing this at $5, then what you would ever generate at your current price points. I would love to purchase the game in full, I've already bought 2 constellations, but I won't on principle, until the price is dropped. If you can by a game on steam with 5,000 hours of development for $10, one has to wonder who came up with this insane pricing structure. Again, great game, terrible price.
JonnyBeIsGood,
Should be a classic
If iPhone games were better at being remembered, Auralux would be a classic. It’s a smart, beautiful strategy game like several old favorites, but in real time as a beautiful battle with dope, relaxing music that everything in the game happens to. You can even choose to interpret the battle as non-violent, but as representing a spread of influence or something else like that, if you want. It even has nature vibes because technically it is a portrayal of something that’s 100% organic, in beautiful outer space. Both 1 & 2 are sick, unique, smart, perfect, fun, & addicting—and deserve to be more popular. I can see these trending later and getting discovered by a larger crowd, just based on the sheer beauty and flow I was of the game to begin with. High five devs
Thor_Cooler,
Finally! A stimulating strategy game!!!
A lot of strategy games tend to lose my interest after a while. I loved the original of this game and was bummed when it was no longer compatible as time went on. I’m glad I gave it a quick search just for “shiggles” (sh**s and giggles), because not only was I able to play this game again, but it is monumentally better than the original! I’m a huge fan of RTS games (Age of Empires, Warcraft III, Empire Earth, Total War series, etc...) and it is really awesome to have something like this that is compatible on my phone and my IPad. Big thanks to the developers on this one! I know the gaming experience isn’t always the same for everyone, but I have to admit that this has me hooked once again. Happy gaming, everyone! Cheers!
Knight of Heeboo,
Very addicting and fun to play!
This game concept is simple, but executed in such a way that has you on the edge of your seat trying to out do the computers ( which are VERY opportunistic in this game.) and coaxing your.....orbitals? Idk what they're called to go faster to the next planet. It's kind of a put off that you have to pay after the first constellation, but they give you a decent amount of levels to learn the basics and decide whether you want to pay or not. I would, just because I really like this type of game. I would recommend this as a very addicting and fun game to play as well as kid friendly with no guns or blood or violence that many games have today. Plus, it's free to download so you don't invest much to at least try it out.
w.eatherman,
Great Expansion
I was a fan of the original, and was reminded of it when I saw someone else playing on the subway. When installed Constellations, initially I was disappointed that it seems to be just a visual upgrade to the original, with an online mode. Then I realized that each of the constellations had its own new element, which change strategies dramatically. It's a huge upgrade to the original with a lot of interesting gameplay. Unfortunately it seems the online mode isn't broadly used, possibly because people are scared away by the high price for the full game ($10 at time of review). The price is high for this game and I would encourage the developers to make this a $5 game which would (I think) more than double the number of sales and increase the number of people using the online mode.
jDavid87,
Great Game, AI needs some optimizations
The game concepts are simple and easy. The strategies you’ll need to employ aren’t as obvious. That does make for a fun game play, however, I often feel like I’m not exactly sure which strategies I’m supposed to be encouraged to employ over others.
Rusher? Turtle? A combination?

What really frustrates me and why I docked a star has to do with the overall gameplay. That is, how the other AI mutually decide to gang up on you, even to their own detriment. I have seen this move many times, where the AI has a mass of troops, and the other AI has a nearby relatively weak planet they could attack and take over. But what does it choose to do? Well, to attack one of my well fortified bases instead. Then I turn around and wipe them out.

The game repeatedly teaches you to hold back and let them fight amongst themselves. But they rarely engage with each other. They will sometimes, almost as if to say “oh see! We’re attacking each other” when the rest of the time that’s not really how they’re behaving.

The behavior is baffling, but I’ve seen others comment on this quite often in forums and in the reviews here.
