Description

AutoWake is the first haptic smart alarm for your Watch.

It can wake you up by tapping you on your wrist using your Watch's haptic engine. You can set it to wake you if you are in light or medium sleep either 15 or 30 minutes before your set alarm time. This helps you feel more refreshed.

There's an optional sleep cycle buster that you can turn on to give you a light tap at 5 minute intervals in a 15 or 30 minute window before your alarm to take you gently out of deeper sleep.

Not only that but it will even automatically measure your waking pulse just before the alarm sounds, which is a valuable measurement of recovery.

If you ignore the alarm on the Watch, you can also set a safety alarm that will play on your phone. This will speak and/or play a chosen song from your music library.

There's also auto scheduled alarms in case you forget to set your alarm before bed.

If you use AutoSleep our auto sleep tracker, you can use the new ultra smart alarm features. You can now be woken up after a desired amount of sleep, quality sleep or when your sleep bank is back in credit. You can use this in conjunction with a latest wake time if required. You can even set a bedtime reminder that looks at your required sleep, sleep efficiency and latest wake time to give you a reminder for the optimal time to go to bed.

When you turn on your alarm, it can automatically tell AutoSleep that you have gone to bed so that time to fall asleep can be tracked.

If you use Apple HomeKit then you can run scenes for key events in AutoWake like turning off your bedside lamp and setting your room temperature for sleep.

AutoWake requires an Apple Watch running WatchOS 4 or higher. Advanced features requires WatchOS 5.

AutoWake works fine with Do Not Disturb and Theatre/Cinema mode.

AutoWake requires at least a bluetooth connection between your iPhone and your Apple Watch during the time that you are asleep. You can use Flight Mode on your iPhone, but make sure that you turn on bluetooth.
If you user Screen Time, make sure that AutoWake is in your exclude list.

As with all of our apps, there is no tracking, no analytics, no snooping. Your privacy is very important.

Here's AutoWake 3. It's a big update!
- All alarms are now set directly on the Apple Watch in a rather tasty new way.
- If you use AutoSleep & have WatchOS 5 you can now set advanced ultra smart alarms. These allow you to set a sleep goal, quality goal or sleep bank goal. AutoWake can then do things like set an alarm every Friday after you achieve 8 hours sleep but no later than 7:30AM with an intelligent reminder 60 minutes before the best time to go to bed. Ultra smart alarms can help you hit your sleep goal as well as to prevent oversleeping.
- Scheduled backup alarms are now both more flexible and more straightforward.
- iPhone app is greatly simplified.
- Support for every Infograph complication format on the Series 4 Watch.
- Smartwake options now include "bump" only. This will tap you every 5 minutes before your final alarm time to take you out of deeper sleep.
- You can now change the voice to use for confirmations and safety alarms.
Hope you like it! Pleasant dreams.

This is big update that makes AutoWake a lot more grown up.
- 7 day schedule to auto enable your alarm if you forget. Yes, AutoWake is now auto too.
- Bedtime reminders. Relive your childhood. If you use AutoSleep you'll even get told your average 7 day trailing sleep. No pressure.
- Custom haptics. Some people like it hard. Some like it soft. Now you can choose.
- Sleep cycle buster to lightly tap you in 5 minute intervals in your 15 / 30 minute smart alarm period. This takes you out of deeper sleep in a lovingly tender way.
- AutoSleep lights off support for time to fall asleep tracking.
- Snooze option. With optional snooze abuse so that you can be told off for your slothful ways.
- HomeKit support to run scenes on key events. e.g. Turn off your bedside lamp when you enable the alarm. Make your lamp bright red as punishment for hitting snooze.
- Modified light and medium sleep detection sensitivity. Light was a bit too high for most people.
- 24 hour time support.
- Customise / control all spoken text.

prod10,
Seems great but not quite
This really seemed like the best solution for a smart sleep alarm for the watch but there’s a significant amount of bugs.
For starters, I’ve had a few times where the alarm is active but won’t even go off. As I’m writing this I have an alarm that was supposed to go off 30 minutes ago and it’s just counting the time since it was supposed to activate. Additionally, if your phone isn’t nearby and charged, it also appears to be impossible to turn the alarm off which makes the watch app kind of pointless. And the last thing which is super minor is that the normal way to “stop” the alarm isn’t available unless you wake up right at the alarm time, so if you wake up earlier you actually have to deactivate the alarm which means that every night you have to reactivate it again.
I’m still giving 3 stars because as a developer I know these are easy fixes and I still like the design and everything, but it’s just not fully there yet
crx81,
A must have with HeartWatch and AutoSleep
Yes, the 3 apps in this bundle seem overwhelming at first install and have a learning curve (and I generally take longer than others to figure things out). However, all 3 are beyond worth the effort, and I found myself using them like a pro in a few days. This app in particular has been fantastic, and this coming from someone who was a chronic snooze button abuser... literally setting my alarm for an hour before I had to get up so I can do an hour of snooze buttons before exiting the bed for the past 10 years at least! Now, I set my alarm for the time I need to be up, get the taps on the wrist 3 times in 5 minute intervals prior to the actual wake up time, and am feeling ready to get out of bed on time the first time the “alarm” goes off. The best part, is that all of this is silent and doesn’t disturb my sleeping wife at all (and you can be sure she had NOT been a fan of my previous morning ritual! I honestly believe those who didn’t 5 star this app were too impatient to give it a full try. It integrates well and works flawlessly. In my opinion, this app alone makes my Apple Watch a must have... I’d give up my phone first!
907Steph,
Worth the effort!
This app has some really smart features that I didn’t anticipate when I decided to buy it along with AutoSleep and HeartWatch. All three work together in a sense so, “why not?” I thought. When I got around to start using it, I was pleasantly surprised at how you can choose to have it wake you within a set time period, 15 minutes for example, prior to your alarm time setting if you’re in a light sleep or medium sleep stage, again, your choice of which one. You can have the watch give you a “nudge” or a “tickle” and after a preview, decide if it’s something you want to use or not. You do have to put in some effort to review and possibly tweak the settings each night as well as confirm the alarm has been set but it’s a quick and easy process. I haven’t had any issues with changing alarm times or settings one day to the next so maybe there’s been an update from when another reviewer mentioned those problems...? I have narcolepsy and the features mentioned earlier are great to try out for someone like myself who has to pay close attention to not only consistency with my sleep but also with my wake schedule.
Luckystick,
This is a good app
This app has not given me any problems in my month or so of usage. It does exactly what I would want it to do and doesn’t really do any more. That’s not a bad thing though. I just got it because it was the only way to make my Homekit light turn on when I woke up and turn off when I set my alarm each night. It does that perfectly. I don’t know why people have given it an average of like 2.5 stars or something. From my experience, it doesn’t deserve that. It can be complicated but that’s just because of the nature of the app. It provides details on exactly what to do though to make sure your alarm goes off and everything works. I think that a lot of the reviewers didn’t quite understand the directions and that could be the reason they had a negative experience. The only reason I’m giving it 4 stars is because I really think that Homekit should have just been integrated into the original app. It seems like a relatively easy thing to do, and I don’t really see the point of creating a whole new app that’s only real extra functionality is that Homekit integration.
ThayNoToDrugz,
Where is AutoWake 4???
I love both of your other apps! They are so insightful and keep up with a plethora of health data. But what’s up with AutoWake??? It hasn’t been updated in years, which I find extremely frustrating!! Even the oldest of apps still have regular updates containing bug fixes, minor improvements, new features, or modernized UI/UX. Why have you abandoned this app and left its development so stagnant?? I just don’t get your intentions here… If I were to stumble upon this app today, I would NOT buy it! Part of my process in assessing the quality of apps before buying or downloading them is checking how recently it was last updated. Consistent developer engagement in their products is so important to consumers! Who wants an app that is left to fade out and die?

I say you should either put out an update ASAP or just remove it from the App Store. Again, what’s the use of an app that is stuck in stagnation??

Like I said, I love your other apps, which is why I simply can’t comprehend why you don’t give this one any attention. Maybe you should use AutoWake to wake yourselves up and roll out an update!
IJustWannaRide,
Alarm clock it is not
This app has let me down too many times to list. It seriously fails to function like an alarm should. The widget must be on the face of the watch for it to work (not sure if that’s a requirement for other watch apps but it invites disaster.) It actually goes off at one minute past the time you set it for(?) The automatic mode has sometimes switched itself off. I’ve had it shut off when I pushed snooze and snooze after shut off. It has turned off its automatic mode (changed to manual) after pressing the off button in the morning.
The app simply does not give me confidence that it will function when I need it to. The final straw was a complete implosion on the morning after the spring foreword time change. It didn’t go off at all. The alarm time for the next day said 6:00am but the setting “wheel” read 5:00am. It would not correct itself for until I restarted my watch. I wrote the developer and was told that they knew about the problem but didn’t realize the time change happened so early in the US this year! It’s been the second weekend of March since the Bush administration.
Don’t waste your money or time here.
Aaron Pierce,
Useless and unintuitive
This app's user interface is atrocious. It makes no sense, settings are scattered all over, the "Last Alarm" and "Home" screens lack any functionality. On the watch, I have AutoWake in the main screen of the modular face. It has a useless counter that counts up from the time of your alarm (is that supposed to be how long I've been awake?). Sometimes it'll count for days, other times it'll change to counting down until the alarm sounds (moderately helpful). The rest of the watch settings interface is actually decent. But I figured if I could set and forget the alarm I could live with the other UI issues.

Unfortunately it never works. Auto schedule turns on and off at will, I don't have weekend alarms set but somehow it sets one on its own, and the alarm has yet to work. Each day this week (6am alarm) the alarm has failed to go off on time. It's only gone off twice - once at 6:18 and another at 6:40. Not helpful! Not surprisingly, it also fails to give the taps to wake you from deep sleep as it advertises.

A complete waste of money. AutoSleep is a good app (UI is okay but works better than this), but AutoWake is utterly useless.
Dokowals,
Don’t do it..
This app is garbage. It undermines your phone’s utility alarm settings. None of what you do/set on the app syncs with your normal alarm settings. (There is no option) There is no ergonomic feel to this app, the graphs and charts don’t make any sense and never will. The (auto) alarm has made me late for work since it (literally) decides to not play any sound when it goes off. Randomly, like you can have all your phones sound settings up all the way and the with it not on silence, and still, no sound playing because like I said, settings you have on your phone with the sleep focus verses the settings on the auto sleep app itself that works with auto wake, none of it will ever have conjunction between each other. And I’ve tried so hard to get everything set up appropriately and still, no remorse. It’s bad, collects neat fake sleep info that isn’t accurate at all. Good luck with this app, not worth losing my job over it when I can just use my standard apple alarm app and now that it’s going to actually (sound) when the alarm goes off.
Jhatzis99,
Potential
**UPDATE**
First let me say the developer is very responsive. I’ve changed from 1 star to 5. The issue was that if using the screen time feature in iOS 12, you MUST exclude autowake from being affected. In other words, always allow AutoWake otherwise the alarm will not go off. Since figuring this out, the alarm has reliably gone off as set. Love it.

I’ve been using AutoSleep for awhile now. Great app so I jumped on AutoWake based on that experience. It has not lived up to its potential. Been using for a week now. The alarm has yet to go off once. I’ve tried all the features even the safety alarm. Nothing. Watch is series 4 with a full battery when I go to bed. I’m using with the autosleep app as advertised and have read the instructions several times. Still no alarm. The alarm is the whole point and can’t give anything but 1 star. Please fix. I love the idea.
Bill Pulv,
Lacking in features
For a paid app, this should have much more features. My main gripes:

1. I can only set one alarm. The wake up when you’re in light sleep thing is nice if you’re motivated to get up but when I’m asleep I mostly want to stay asleep. So when this thing vibrates to wake me up, I just press my watch and it shuts off. And that’s it. There’s no snooze function, it doesn’t detect if you went back to sleep or anything AND it only lets you set one alarm. So really it does nothing. Maybe you could set it to go off slightly before your main alarm but that’s not what I wanted it to do.

2. It doesn’t detect when you are awake. I mentioned this in the last comment but sometimes when it does actually wake me up, I just slap my watch until it stops and get up. Later, when I go to set it again for the evening it has this timer for how long past my alarm it has been and it is counting since my alarm went off. It wants me to manually press “I’m awake” for it to know you are awake. Why it needs to know that when it doesn’t even re-vibrate, I have no idea.

3. Phone app is useless. At least put docs in there. It links to external website for documentation when it could be in phone app. I would also prefer to set alarms in the phone app but it will not let you.

While I enjoy the other apps from this developer, this one is a huge miss, at least for now. I’m not sure how actively they’re developing this but I hope more features are added.
