ElevenCastle61,
Excellent app that makes it easy to build lists.
I use this to brainstorm lists and rapidly look up the stats and special rules for units. It’s very useful but does require an understanding of list building to use properly and takes some trial and error to learn how to customize units and models. It didn’t take me long to get used to how to do it though. Certain units/characters have very inconsistent and unusual formats when building them, which is to say that the layout for equipping units is inconsistent. This is especially apparent for the various space marine armies as they have very different layouts for building the same unit depending upon the chapter you have selected(I’m not talking about exclusive/unique units but general/shared ones). I recommend this app highly as it the minor problems it has are far overshadowed by the wide selection of army building resources and choices it provides, definitely give it a try if you enjoy warhammer 40k, 30k or kill team and want to be able to quickly and easily build lists.
StarWarsFan2004,
Can be a bit tricky to use at times, but very helpful!
BattleScribe is one of those apps that you keep discovering the potential for even far after you’ve downloaded it. I recently got into Warhammer 40K and I’ve used it to track my teams and armies of Raven Guard, and I’ve also found it very useful for planning future armies and seeing point values! The printed format of the rules can be a bit clunky at times and may not later all too well, but that’s nothing some basic editing in Google Docs or something couldn’t fix, so it’s really not an issue. However, the only thing I’d say could use an update would be the ability to change your Detachment type after making an army. Because I can’t copy and paste my troops, every time I get a troop pack to change my detachment (my first example being from a Patrol to a Battalion), I have to re-enter my entire army roster in a new file, complete with Warlord traits, relics, attachments and perks on certain weapons, etc. Otherwise, the app is very smooth and helpful to use!
MatRod2020,
Awesome with tiny problems
When I started the Warhammer hobby, everyone told me to get BattleScribe. It has everything that someone would need to play TTWG.
However, one problem I had with it was in the very beginning; it was hard to learn how to work it. However, one could attribute this to the lack of publications owned and lack of knowledge of the game, because once I read the codexes, I understood the game and how to work BattleScribe.
One more tiny problem I have is the fact that the rosters take so long to load. When you’re in the middle of a game, and you have to edit your list a little because of a small error, you now have to wait 2 minutes while your list loads to be able to use. Not sure how this could be fixed, but it would be nice.
In all, I would recommend this to anyone and everyone who plays TTWG and needs something to make their lists. Great work!
Mc nasty Mac,
I like it
BattleScribe is a useful tool for list building and management for the on the go hobbyist. With a simple layout and consistent updates it keeps you in tune with meta changes and faqs with a minimal delay. I’m a warhammer 40k player and i like to use it in conjunction with tabletop simulator to test out new army builds before I go in with buying, building, and painting new armies. As we all know tabletop gaming is expensive so it’s nice to be able to test compositions before buying. Another thing that I do enjoy is that I can use the same app for phone and pc. Especially because my job keeps me traveling a lot. All in all I dig it. Nothing is perfect like occasionally an update crashes my phone( which is probably my phone) or out of date codexes( which get upgraded continually) as a free app it’s a go to for a beginner hobbyist and pro alike.
Mickylovin,
Excellent app. New and improved as of the last update.
The app is my favorite list building app to date and has a relatively easy interface that logically progresses. As an engine it is as of the new update, faster than before, operates smoothly, and the databases allow it to be modular with the different gaming systems, while at the same time allowing you to only have to update if the app or your gaming system updates. The databases themselves update usually within a week of any official changes and you should keep in mind that they are all created by 3rd parties, more or less. The app provides an excellent way to look at unit entries as well, or to compare units on paper. The flaws used to include inconsistencies but the app has about as short a learning curve as I think is possible.
Train_Get_Robbed,
Premiere Option For Board Game List Building
This app is the elite standalone choice for list building.

It’s the longest serving, last surviving for both popular and niche games alike (such as Fantasy Battles: Ninth Age). Without this app many players would be bumble around in Army Builder, or other editable templates that are unintuitive to use. Instead, Army Builder provides regular updates, and takes feedback excellently from it’s consume base, and allows each game that requires an army list to be functionally readable, concise, and easy to use.

Additionally, while Army Builder can be purchased to allow for more functionality for the user through U/I abilities, and other customizable edits, it still offer its free version when other list builders on the market still charge -even for games they no longer support.

It’s ludicrous to think that someone would
choose another app over BattleScribe when your list files can be saved a myriad of ways, emailed to addresses, shared, and provide a simple, easy to use layout coupled with a quick menus. There’s nothing better in the current miniatures market. BattleScribe is elite. Just get it and don’t look back (even if it’s the free version).
TheHumanDortch,
Amazing work, but printer formatting options?
I’ve used and loved BattleScribe for a long time now on multiple platforms. It’s amazing for list building in almost any game, but my experience is mostly in Warhammer games (AoS, 40K, kill team, etc.)
Pros are it’s exceptionally easy to use and almost always up to date. Making lists is easy even on the fly and I spend more time making theory lists because it’s so easy to slap one together.
My biggest gripe with the program is the printing options. The ability to add a page break between rules or units, or even proper spacing would be /insanely/ helpful.
I’d also like to see a feature some day where we have access to stratagems or tactics available with the Warhammer factions.
Hope my 2 cents contributed to an educated opinion and potentially some developer attention. Happy wargaming!
Oren Kelly,
Awesome platform for community content!
I use this app primarily for 40k, but from what I’ve seen this app is great for all kinds of games.

The interface is intuitive and easy to navigate, and the fact that the community is able to update the data used means that the information is frequently updated with new rule resources. While I use physical books for a lot of things, having an app like this available helps cut down on carrying cumbersome and heavy libraries to games. No other app currently available has managed to match BattleScribe’s well-deserved reputation for quality, even the ones from sources backed by gaming companies themselves.

If you want to build an army quickly and accurately, BattleScribe is the app to use.
Stick figure fun,
Amazing app, no tutorial
As someone who’s just getting into Warhammer 40k, this is a must have for army building. This will sound like a backhanded compliment, but the biggest problem is that there’s no proper tutorial on how to use the app’s many useful functions. Granted it can be intuitive occasionally, but given its robust features checking the help option in the settings is like finding a single bread crumb in the middle of a maze. Otherwise, when I go to view the wargear, warlord trait, relic, etc of a character it gives me no info. So if I’m swapping gear or abilities I can’t check what they do. I need to individually equip each one, then view to see what it does. Overall a good app; I can tell a lot of love went into the app and it’s functionality, but I hope it can become more user friendly in the future.
Ozneber,
Review from returning 40K player
This has been the best app I’ve seen and used for army list building. Most of the other apps are literally dyslexic so this one beats them by a long shot. This app still has many annoying inconveniences by not having a menu or a page where the selections you’re given are explained. Everything could have a better description on what you’re actually doing. The only way you can comprehend this app is if your a hardcore 40K player. New players that just need an army list app will find themselves going to paper and pen to make their list way easier than using the app. For us experienced players this app has been the best one on the marketplace. Thank you for your service.
