TheDolma,
So Good Until…
I absolutely loved this game when it came out. All of the updates with the question packs were great, until this latest one. Now, you can only react once to an answer. This is less fun on both sides; the joke sayer gets less engagement, making the game way less exciting, and it’s less fun to react.
I do think there should be a penalty for two many angry reactions, but not a scale. Should I be penalized if the other people in that particular round happen to be generally unfunny? The fun part about this game is getting to react honestly to a bunch of strangers, and they become characters as you start to see their unique senses of humor. This takes that away.
In terms of number of reactions per joke: I often change my reaction based on others; if someone is getting negative reactions to an okay joke I’ll give them a positive one, and vice versa, especially for something offensive. That is dynamic and interesting, and so what if more engaged players get more of a say?? They’re contributing to making the game more fun and interactive! Just one reaction per person is robotic and not fun. I play this every day, but I probably won’t anymore if this stays the same.
Jtaylor556,
Disappointing
This game has potential to be a fun party game, but as it stands now it can be viewed as merely another mediocre mobile game. There are ads after every game you play as well as other random events like claiming prizes for the daily question, and for whatever reason it costs 5 dollars to remove ads when it’s free to play without ads on the steam version. Also, the in app purchases seem far too expensive for the amount of cosmetics you can get with them. Do not waste your money buying anything here. The main game can be fun but is also janky at times with many bugs, which isn’t really an issue as this is still an early release. There also isn’t a whole lot to do in this game. Playing just a few matches and you’ll start to see prompts coming back more than once, and it begins to be repetitive very quickly. Public matches also have a high chance of not being very fun, as many people will consistently vote negative on other peoples responses just so they can boost their own score. Speaking of the scoring system, it seems very flawed design wise. There are only four options for voting on other people’s answers, and the roses and tomatoes don’t seem to do anything different than just voting regularly. Overall, if you want to play this game just get it on steam to avoid ads, but I don’t imagine you’ll have too much of a lasting enjoyment anyway.
Interstate Highway 69,
Better but still disappointing
The bracket style game structure is much better, but it’s still flawed. Now instead of voting negatively on everyone else’s answers, they just leave when theirs doesn’t advance in the bracket. It feels like there’s always at least one person who does this, and it’s not rare to find only three people left in a match after an initial six started it. I feel like it wouldn’t be terribly difficult to fix this, just portion out the points so people get more as the game goes on (unless you’re scared of a lawsuit from Jackbox games, which, fair enough, but that doesn’t make the game better).

I also came across a couple repeated prompts after just two or three days playing. If I played this for a twenty minutes a day for a month, I’d expect that number to go way up. I know it might not be practical to add enough prompts to last so long, but that doesn’t make the game better.

Mobile version also has a lot of ads, and a not insignificant amount of bugs (although the bugs aren’t too disruptive). Also, the times displayed (such as the time of 7:00 pm in the store) seemingly don’t adjust to the user’s time zone. At least say what time zone you’re referencing. I know it doesn’t matter, but it just seems a bit sloppy.
LeittCici,
Will be great (one day)
I’m having lots of fun with this game! The ads are not overwhelming and the gameplay itself is pretty good. I do think more prompts need to be added (I’ve seen and played several repeats). I agree with other reviewers about changing the voting system or at least putting tangible points values on what each reaction means. I think it would be fun to have different game modes or channels where you can just play your favorite question types with other players that like them too. I wish there was a way to earn the blue tokens in the game, maybe if you place 1st you could win 50, 2nd gets 25, and 3rd gets 10? Also having more items that I can buy with coins at any given time would be awesome. My main criticism is that its a little buggy. It crashes every now and then and doesn’t save any progress you made. I’ve played a couple games that went on for 4 rounds, and I didn’t earn any points because it crashed halfway through. When I buy tomatoes or roses I have to restart the game or I can’t use them. Definitely not the end of the world, but once these bugs are fixed, the game will be a lot more enjoyable!

Concerned
After hearing the announcement for this game, I decided to download it, only to immediately delete it. Why? The first thing I saw upon opening the game was a privacy concern for me—the requirement to input your email and password, or have a guest account. I’m also assuming if you made a lot of progress on a guest account you couldn’t transfer that to an email linked account. The blank screen before that wasn’t very reassuring either (I reset the app a couple of times before the log-in screen appeared). I’m not sure if there’s a privacy policy I can read somewhere but on the App Store there are a lot of things mentioned in the “data collected and linked to you” section.

The app also suffers from lackluster publicity. For a party game, I did not feel very excited to play it. I’m not an expert on advertising but constantly reiterating “buy my game” did not go over well with me. Especially when I could play an identical game with just a few pieces of paper. Don’t get me wrong, it makes me really happy to see someone’s project finally come to fruition, I just feel like it could’ve been advertised better. If it was I might’ve bothered to check out the gameplay before reviewing. Also the art isn’t that great.

Overall, looks fun, but suffers from boring advertisement and raises some privacy concerns.
iggilini,
Ok, could be way better
While the last update fixed a lot, this game has a long way to go. It certainly doesn’t help that it feels like even the creators have given up on this game. (They haven’t even bothered to put a new daily question in days!) There’s a few suggestions I have. Having new questions is great, but I think we need entirely new categories too. I don’t mean replace the ones we have, just add three or four new ones. With more categories, means more possible questions, and more possible answers. I also believe this game would benefit from more personal questions. Instead of having fill-in-the-blank type questions with very specific prompts, the questions could be more open-ended. (For example, right about a time you were embarrassed). That way, we get more creative answers than “among us” or “your mom”. Also, good lord, let us unsubmit answers! I’m tired of looking stupid cause of typos, or not being able to change my a joke to a better one! Please, this is so annoying! I’m really rooting for this game, and I really think making these changes would help it do well! It has so much potential, it’s just a matter of putting the love and care in to help get it there.
basicwhitegirl2,
Be Funny Now is great
Be Funny Now is actually a pretty fun game. I love the customizations and how your character can look however you want. I love the fun aspect of the game and the fun it is to play. I love the minimal ads on the game (unlike most mobile games). I also love how things will change after certain times to motivate people to join more often. If i had some complaints (not even complaints, just suggestions) they would be this: the game can be a bit buggy at times (though expected, given how new it is) though it’s not bad at all. I also think the wait times are a bit long for when joining a game. I feel as though if there is no more availability then the game should automatically start. And finally, a suggestion i have would be to add a chat box during public games or after it has finished. Otherwise, I love the game and it’s a lot of fun!
Lgbtqpatato,
Negative reviews?
i've seen a lot of people write negative reviews and personally I don't understand it. I understand that you can't log into the game as a guest but just make an account it's not that hard. also I've seen a lot of people complain about the other players of this game and that's not the game's fault it's the players fault just because the game doesn't have good players doesn't mean it's a bad game. I understand there's a lot of bugs but Jack is working to fix that so be a little bit more patient before you write a negative review. The only critique I have is to be able to earn blue coins when we play the game. Also there should be more options to what you can buy with gold coins most of the good stuff you can only buy with blue tokens. Besides that it's a great game and i'm looking forward to seeing some new update. 😄😄
duboissix,
Golden Rose for this game!
Be Funny Now! is everything you want in a comedy simulator. The voting system on other people’s jokes is fun and interactive in real time, with roses or tomatoes (which are bought with coins earned from how well you perform) available as supervotes on the extreme ends of the spectrum.

Coins are easy to earn each match, but there is a way to purchase in-game currency, and short ads play after each round (every 8 minutes or so) but nothing intrusive, especially considering it’s a quality free game. The music is catchy and visuals are fun. There aren’t many clothes customization options for your avatar yet but more show up in the store every day.

If I made one change I would add an elo system so you could go competitive and end up getting matched with funnier and funnier people! This is because the one downside I’ve found so far is the random match-ups: sometimes the comedians you pair with are mediocre, and sometimes they hilarious.

Everyone seems to be voting pretty fairly and not submitting inappropriate garbage, although there is a report button just in case (I haven’t seen any need for it yet). I love the community vibe, and you will see your fair share of jacksfilms inside jokes and references!

I’m done writing, I’m going to play more Be Funny Now!
PeeweeFarquaad,
Lots of room for improvement
The most irritating thing about this game is how it sometimes cuts off the end of your answer without warning. It seems like this might be a censorship feature, but a better way to do this would be to have a warning message when you press “submit”, letting you know that your answer contains language that can’t be shared with other players and giving you the opportunity to change it. Having it just display the first few words of your answer gets really frustrating. Also as others have pointed out, the voting system is pretty flawed because players can gain an advantage by just giving everyone else a low score. If there was a different way to structure the voting, like having the users rank all the answers in a round from best to worst instead of voting on each individually, that would ensure a bit more fairness in the way people respond to answers.
