Description

With the eBike Connect app, you can customise your eBike experience: connected, individual and interactive. Connect your Nyon or Kiox via Bluetooth with your smartphone and flexibly plan your routes, use the navigation via your display, track your activities or protect your eBike from theft with the premium function eBike Lock. The eBike Connect app offers you many helpful functions for your eBike with the Bosch eBike system 2.

Please note: This app can only be used for eBikes with Bosch drive units and Nyon or Kiox on-board computers with Bosch eBike system 2.

Route planning and navigation
Use the flexible route planning and navigation of eBike Connect. You can conveniently plan your rides and customise, import or share routes. If you synchronise with Komoot and Outdooractive, you can discover even more exciting routes. In addition, eBike Connect app suggests your routes that fit your preferences and mood (fast, scenic or eMountainbike). If you start your planned route in the app, it will be transmitted to your display or on-board computer.

Activities and fitness
From distance and duration to calories burned: view and evaluate all details of your eBike rides. Connect the eBike Connect app with Apple Health, Komoot or Strava and your activities are automatically synchronised. As an Apple Watch user, you can train even more effectively by tracking your heart rate while riding.

Help Center
Our Bosch eBike Help Center provides answers to your questions about your eBike. Here you will find FAQs, videos, and user manuals. To ensure that you always have access to the latest functions and improvements, we recommend that you update your Nyon or Kiox to the latest software version. You can find out how to update the software on your device here: https://www.bosch-ebike.com/en/help-center/ebike-connect

Settings
In the settings, you can customise your display screens or link eBike Connect with Komoot, Strava or Apple Health.

Premium functions for more security and personalisation
- With eBike Lock, you can park your eBike in a more relaxed way: The premium function offers additional protection against thieves. As soon as you disconnect the on-board computer, the eBike's drive unit no longer provides support, deterring thieves.
- With the premium function "Individual riding modes", you can personalise your Bosch eBike and set the drive unit’s support individually.
- Based on topographical conditions and the selected support level, the eBike Connect app calculates your remaining range.

Usability information: The premium function eBike Lock in conjunction with the Kiox or Nyon display is compatible with the following Bosch drive units from the Bosch eBike system 2: Bosch Active Line, Active Line Plus from model year 2018 onward, Performance Line, Performance Line Speed and Performance Line CX as well as the Cargo Line from model year 2020.

- Remember locations: You can now set markers for locations in the map view and include them in your route. You can access this function via the new bookmark icon in the map screen of the app at the bottom left. For example, park your car, bookmark the parking position and start your eBike ride - that way, you can navigate back to the car later. You can also use this icon to add your current location to your saved locations directly from the eBike Connect app.

- Extended activity details: You can now find more parameters in the detailed view of your activities (maximum heart rate, maximum cadence, maximum altitude).

- We have updated the battery widget for the lock screen. You can now display the battery status in two different layouts.

- We have made a number of minor bug fixes and improvements, for example, renaming your eBike is also possible in the app.

In this version we have, among other things, fixed a minor bug.
5.1.0

Adjusting a route created in the app at a later date is now possible. In the map area you will find many new options to edit the routes you have already created. Add new stopovers, change the order of the planned stops, turn the originally planned route into a round trip and much more. Ultimately, you decide whether you want to save your changes or create a new tour from them.

When you plan your next trip, it no longer has to be based solely on your current location: you decide where your next experience begins. Use the new function to enter the start address directly or tap on the map and select where the route should start from.

Sharing directly from the app now works for all eBike Connect or Outdooractive tours: simply select the desired Tour, export as GPX and use the share options of your smartphone.

With immediate effect, you can also transfer the heart rate recorded by the Apple Watch to eBike Connect. This will add more data to your ride statistics. This way you can track your fitness goals even better – and achieve them.

How does it work? After installing the latest update, the eBike Connect Watch app will automatically appear on your Apple Watch. Open it and follow the instructions there to sync your heart rate data from the Apple Watch to eBike Connect.

Nyon and Kiox users take note: the transmission of Apple Watch heart rate data with eBike Connect only works if there is an active connection between Nyon and the smartphone during the entire ride.

The map material has been updated for the portal and app (version October 2022).

2022-10-26
Import your GPX files directly in the eBike Connect app: As with the online portal, you can now upload your self-created or shared routes directly in the smartphone app in the ‘Map’ section and follow them using Kiox or Nyon displays. You can even receive turn-by-turn navigation instructions.

We have also fixed some minor bugs and made some improvements - for example, we have improved the way the map is displayed in ‘Offline’ mode and also optimised the search function when you don't have an active internet connection.
4.9.0
2022-08-03
Strava: Record your activity data and sync it with your community on Strava. Once you have linked your Strava account in the eBike Connect app, you can automagically synchronise all your newly recorded activities to your Strava profile. In addition to individual segments, also the daily summary can be automatically uploaded to Strava. Visit the eBike Connect app settings under "Settings" > "Connected apps" > "Strava" to set this up.

Similar to the implementation in the online portal, you can now reset the changes you've done using the custom riding modes premium feature, change your e-mail address and show your average power output in the activities summary.

Trying to connect your app to an incompatible Bosch eBike system? We made sure you'd get notified about that.

- Kiox: Our sportive display is now also connected to the eBike Connect smartphone app. From now on Kiox is selectable in App under "My eBike". Once connected via Bluetooth with the smartphone app eBike Connect, Kiox records your trips and sends all relevant data to the app and, if your smartphone is connected to the internet, to the online portal eBike Connect. The app on the other hand records GPS data. This information is then combined with the trip data from Kiox - for an overview and analysis of all activities after driving in the app or in the online portal.

- Map Manager: The entire feature is available again in the present version of this app.

- Today View: There is a new widget in the Today View displaying the current eBike battery charge status and the total distance traveled. To add the widget just swipe right over the Home screen or Lock screen and tap on "Edit". This feature is offered in conjunction with Nyon.

- Ongoing activity: There is a new feed card, being displayed in the event of an ongoing activity.

- Last activity card: A new feed card, showing a map, the distance, duration and speed of your last activity.

- Zoom function within an activity: The zoom feature in the map section of an activity is available again. A click on the map within the activity opens a full-screen, zoomable map view of the route.

- Facebook login: You can no longer login to the eBike Connect app using Facebook. If you used to login only via Facebook and did not choose an eBike Connect password, please use the “Forgot password” link and create a new password using the e-mail address associated with your Facebook account. That way you can ensure your previously recorded data won’t get lost.

Heli2reg,
Overall pretty good - some data issues
Love the app as it syncs data from my NYON easily. However, there are some overall data issues. E.g. when exporting data to Strava, BOSCH eBike Connect will show me 150W average user power and after export, Strava will show 33W avg user power. Also, when exporting data in GPX format from the portal and while selecting the summary data incl all segments of the day, the portal will only export the 1st segment. I’ll use the app for sync from NYON for the most part. Everything else is pretty much done through the web portal. Also, wished I could switch metric and imperial.
Love NYON and wished there would be a better community engagement from BOSCH’s UX and Dev teams.
allim.,
Needs work
The Bosch Performance CX motor and Kiox are great. However this APP is really, Really bad.
First, one never knows if the ride is going to get synced to the phone app. So I’ve lost many rides for lack of a sync. It ought to do it or give me a way to do it when I e stopped.
Secondly, there is so much data available that doesn’t get to the app, ascent/descent, power used, batter Wh used should all be available. This isn’t hard to do and you should have this fixed by now. Once the kiox resets the ride all that data is lost. For serious riders, we need to know how far, how fast, how much elevation did we climb, how much power did we use in Watts and how much of the battery was consumed. This will allow us to make better judgements about what trails we can ride without running out of power at the bottom of a hill before we start riding. The range is helpful but I want to figure it out before I get on the dirt.

Please please please fix this. I have to attach my Garmin to the bars just to track all of this amd then manually record how much of the battery was used on every ride.
Yosuke Matsumura,
Okay, but is buggy
Overall the app does what it’s supposed to most of the time. But there are some bugs that are really annoying. Sometimes trips are not stopped and recorded; I had one trip that supposedly spanned over a week according to the app. The only way to “fix” it was to manually delete the trip in progress, erasing a week’s worth of activities. The new Watch app looks like it never went through QA. All the watch screens have placeholder text, with the actual assets never loading. It also assumes you’re on a ride and starts heart rate monitoring whenever the Nyon unit is on - which includes while charging the bike. So basically my watch is going to run this app, wasting battery on heart rate monitoring, the whole time I’m charging my bike.
Wisteso,
Not perfect but quite good
They finally added Apple Watch heart rate support! Thank you, Bosch. I’ve been using this app for about a year. Overall it works fairly well. It likes to default to some weird GPS locations, requires refreshing the activities page to force it to update sometimes, and overall could use a bit of polish in some areas but generally it does a pretty good job.
BigasDikas,
Missing integrations
I paid $365 to upgrade (plus labor) to this premium device. It is absurd that it does not integrate with:

Apple Health - This is most critical since all my other workouts are tracked there. Plus I want my rides to contribute to my fitness rings.

Apple Watch - The ability to use my watch’s excellent heart rate monitor would be great. It would also be handy to be able to stop a workout (ride) on the watch.

Strava - This is a standard here in the USA. All my other cycling activities are uploaded here automatically by my other devices.

I had the Bosch Smartphone Hub and it is a mess in most ways. But at least it was able to do the 3 items above. Also, the ability to set cadence and heart rate zones is missing. Even the crappy Smartphone Hub could show you your heart rate zones during a ride. That is important if riding for fitness. Bosch got the hardware right with the new Nyon. But they totally fail with the required integrations. Please fix this. It would be an easy 5 star review if so much was not missing.
Kay Mode,
Broken
Bumping up to 3stars after resolving the mapping issue. For those having mapping issues, you have to ensure iOS permissions are set to “Always Allow” the app to track your location, not just when using the app. Since the app falls into the background when not in active use, iOS permissions kills the app from tracking your location during a ride.

App is pretty good otherwise and does basic e-bike related information.

Bosch needs to add the ability to Export the ride data to GPX files, etc.

One star for the app being broken and for support replying to me in Swedish - what? Lol When finishing a ride, and opening up the app to see your ride, there is no map data. “Route is not available for this activity” is the error message. Nothing fixes this, BT connection through the ride is solid, all devices are updated to the latest OS versions and app versions. Nada. This is on a 2023 Electra bike with a Bosch Performance motor and Kiox.
Richie510,
Mostly good with some strong needs
The app does a good job of syncing my rides automatically from the device and to Apple health.

The app needs to stop trying to get me to buy the lock feature. I delete the notification for it every time and it always comes back. I wouldn’t want this feature even if it was free.

I also wish the app exported much better details to Apple health. I would really like it to sync granular data about the ride including the map, and especially my power output along the ride.
RussWesty,
Decent App. Needs to connect to other apps
This app is nice, particularly because I get a nice summary of my power output, % time in various power assist levels, including off. Should be able to connect to Strava or Komoot. I use Komoot to plan routes and for directions while riding. The import into Kiox is VERY cumbersome and impossible without internet, so useless while on long distance multi day trips.
jhw_2018,
Apple Health integration is there!
I have to say, I was worried when there was a new Kiox display released with its own new app that had Apple Health. But, sure enougj, this one was actually updated with it, and I can report it works great! Within a minute or so of me finishing a ride, it showed up in Apple Health.
Kemkemdigital,
Greatest mistake upgrading SmartphoneHub
The developers of this app need to take a cue from Cobi app that works seamlessly and connects with Apple Watch. The greatest mistake I made was replacing my smartphone hub with the Nyon 2021. I no longer able to charge my phone from Nyon’s micro USB port. Since it does not connect with Apple Watch, I no longer can see my heart rate from the display. Also, no voice notification when modes are changed. I strongly advise those who currently have smartphone hub against upgrading to the new nyon.
