Description

Four reasons why you should use Breath Ball to do your breathing exercises:
• Breath Ball's breathing-curve is based on observations of hundreds of clients. It's the secret why Breath Balls breathing exercises feel natural and work much better than any of the competing apps.
• Maximum customizability: Our well being highly depends on what we like and dislike. Breath Ball is the only app you can fully customize to your liking to give you the one breathing app that feels just right.
• Focus on simplicity: Breath Ball is incredibly easy to use and even the first breathing session usually leads to great results.
• Free: Even the free version of Breath Ball provides all the functionality you'll ever need.

These are the reasons why leading professionals from biofeedback coaches to meditation teachers use and recommend Breath Ball to do breathing exercises.

What is Breath Ball used for?

Breath Ball helps you to overcome high stress situations, to meditate, and to relax. It comes with four breathing exercises:

• The cardiac coherence breathing exercise is used to enter a meditative trance for deep relaxation.

• Prof. Dr. Loew's slow paced breathing technique is used to calm down and overcome high stress situations.

• Dr. Andrew Weil’s 4:7:8 breathing technique is used to fall asleep.

• The COPD foundation’s recommended breathing technique can help to catch a breath.

Each of these breathing exercises comes with a short tutorial that will get you started in less than two minutes. Beside that you can create your own breathing exercises; something yoga and meditation coaches enjoy a lot.

xxHearthxx,
Highly recommend!
I’ve dealt with anxiety in various forms for over a decade, and have been frequently informed about the benefits of guided breathing. There’s a lot of research supporting this as a healthy habit, but I was never able to make it work on my own! I would find myself over-breathing, gasping for air, and getting even more anxious whenever I tried to practice a given exercise. Using Breath Ball has been my first successful experience with breathing exercises. I’m very happy to have found this app!

I’d love to see some optional features that allow you to track your progress—maybe a log that records when you practice, or just an overall count somewhere of the total minutes you’ve done exercises for. I would definitely consider a pro subscription if it came with tracking features.
veryold&tired,
GREAT IN EVERY WAY
1st thing I look at in apps I’m considering is, how much my info are they collecting and sharing. Answer with BreathBall-none.
2nd, the developer makes it clear he is not a medical expert and suggests checking with Dr or therapist with any discomfort or questions.
3rd, he could sell the pro section and does ask that you buy it if you can afford it because some can’t. It is only $10 and he provides it free anyway.
For me that all speaks to integrity and makes me more comfortable using it.
Through the years I had heard of the “4:7:8” breathing to aid in sleep and it just didn’t work. With the explanation for why this works and great instructions, it is still a process and the more I use it, the easier it is to feel the changes bringing me closer to sleeping. Best app ever!
occasional downloader,
New version is great, just a few requests
This has been my favorite breathing app for quite a while. Overall I really like the new version, and it’s obvious that a lot of thought and work went into it. But I do have a few suggestions and requests:

1. Please add an option to not show the pop-ups before and after the breathing exercise. I prefer to use a separate journal, and having to dismiss them every time is a bit tedious. There could either be an option to turn this off in the settings or the pop-ups could replaced by a button on the edge of the interface that could be tapped if someone wants to use the feature and ignored otherwise.

2. Vibration doesn’t seem to work on my iPhone, but in addition to fixing this, I’d love to have a quick toggle or button that isn’t buried in the settings so I could switch between vibration only and sound only. (Vibration with no sound would be helpful when I’m around others who I don’t want to disturb, and sound with no vibration improves battery life.)

3. This is a little thing, but I miss the way the bell sounded in the previous version. Could you bring it back as an additional option?
JeJoMc,
Excellent app for any kind of breath training, relaxation, etc!
Tried this app while searching for Buteyko training support— it is excellent. Especially when one can add own settings for specialized breathing exercises. HIGHLY recommended… and useful. Excellent support from developer too. Well worth the small amount to purchase PRO version.
JoJ WWood,
Simple and helpful
I prefer this over complex apps. I can easily use it in my car, at home, wherever. A good feature is that you can make adjustments, for example add 2 seconds of a pause between breaths. The magic of this app is being able to visualize the in and out breath vs. just hearing an audio cue.
Blakemedance,
Best app of its kind!
I love the customization for the breathing pattern. It’s especially useful for someone like me who has asthma and needs a reminder to maintain consistent breathing while falling asleep. Offers several different abeyant sounds that are very soothing. I would recommend this to anyone who has trouble sleeping, or just likes to meditate.
EdM Student,
Best Breathing App Out There!
And that I have tried a few!!! As a breathing /mindful practice coach, I’m always looking for the best resources out there and this is one I recommend to everyone! Simple and super complete at the same time. I used (almost) every day and my clients love it too
Deeterlara,
Great app for keeping me on track with full and healthy breathing
I’ve struggled with anxiety for a long time and also getting caught up and negative thoughts. I have been using the Breath Ball app to really help center myself, get back to the present moment. Thank you.
fishermaine,
Meditation achieved
I’ve been told by multiple people in my life that I should try breathing exercises or meditation. I couldn’t find anything that kept my interest until I found this app. Works great for me!
DustyCougar,
Terrible after last update
I’ve used this app for several years. It was pleasant, very customizable and easy to use without all the psycho-babble you get so often. The last update completely rewrote the app and it is terrible. It is a lot more rigid and not as customizable. It is like it was designed by someone just getting into programming. You want all the psycho-babble, even forcing you to use a “Diary” than this is the app for you.
