Great!
The free version is good. It comes with close to one thousand characters. I bought the paid version because it's fun, good practice, and you can make your own character packs to study what you've learned elsewhere.
After a couple hours, I feel comfortable handwriting characters, and they no longer seem random.
1 month edit: solo characters aren't always easy to define because a lot of characters are used in combination. If this app could address that, it would be much more useful

Best Writing App to date
I have been studying Chinese for 16 years, and teaching it for more than five years. This is hands-down not only the best Chinese writing app that exists for iPhone, it's the best tool for learning to write Chinese characters in general. The fact that you can create your own packs to study from makes it invaluable. There's plenty you can do with the free version, but the expansion packs are also reasonably priced. I hope this never goes away.

I have been using it on iPhone 5s and this app simply rocks. Now I discovered you can create your own packs of symbols, so I created mine with the symbols of the three first lessons I am being given to study. This is an amazing tool. My daughter of 7 is addicted to this app. I love how it enforces the stroke order and makes the practice fun and challenging. Cannot ask for a better app.

Hmm my mom wants me to learn Chinese but the order doesn't seem right for me tho just when I try to do some patterns I always am rushed and annoyed all I wanted was to do Chinese symbols but I got to worry about my time limit and it doesn't even show the order of the character! 😤😤

Good concept but major flaws
This app is a good concept, but there are major flaws. One of them being that you are unable to write the straight up to down stroke. For example the character 巨.
