elisabethraee,
great concept, sleep data is inaccurate
Loving the data the app has been giving me but how the application is reading my Apple Health sleeping data completely wrong. The “sleep needed” category is the only one that’s remotely accurate. The “total sleep time” and “time in bed” seem to be what are incorrect. When I go into Apple Health and look at my sleep data the hours slept and time in bed are very different. I haven’t been sleeping well so the numbers aren’t great but in Apple Health it says that my “time in bed” was 5hr and 12min while Chipr said 4hr and 42min. The total sleep time is very off: in Apple Health it tells me I slept for 4hr and 43min while Chipr said I slept for 9hr and 25min. I know for a fact I didn’t get 9 and a half hours of sleep. I’m confused as to how the data could get so skewed because it should just be recording Apple Health’s data into their own App, which it doesn’t seem to be working properly. I hope this helped! I really like it I just want this one but fixed lol :)
PresleyHeath,
Love it! Highly recommend.
This app has been great for assessing what factors in my life impact my recovery and I have been some awesome changes. I know it’s still being developed and has already gotten better since I downloaded it. My feedback - more journal entry categories in relation to last meal time, and the calorie burn totals confuse me. Maybe use the AI feature to explain this? Example: my Apple Watch will have me burn around 1,900 calories a day (active and resting combined) and CHIPR will show 3,400+ calories which seems oddly high. It does seem to be higher when my recovery is good, but that doesn’t seem accurate as I am a 5’0 female. Hope this feedback helps improve the app even more! I’m loving it.
PeteIsle,
Great app for daily tracking
This is a great app! I’ve been using it daily for the past six months. I’ve stayed away from Whoop because of the costs. This is a bargain for a full year. I really like the activity tracking and recovery information. The recent addition of AI recommendations is also helpful especially as I work to improve my sleep habits.
Bainbridge Cat,
Love this app!
I use CHIPR every single day to help me with my cycling training. It’s helped me make positive changes that have resulted in much better performance. I especially like the AI features that tailor the recommendations to me. CHIPR is a really great value when compared to its competitors.
dhwuh,
Great app! Still needs a little work
Great app! I think the biggest challenge is reliable Apple Watch HRV data. So, adding a HRV CV chart would be very helpful. Note: There is a bug. The HRV chart is not updating after changing HRV method
22Cj22_16,
Good potential
I currently use Whoop and my Apple Watch but will cancel my whoop membership soon - just don’t want to pay monthly. That being said, this is the closest app I’ve found that records sleep, recovery, and activity to the whoop data. The recovery is a bit inconsistent based on when I check my HRV in the mornings via breath app but I really see the potential in this app.

I use my Apple Watch to sleep also and the sleep score sometimes doesn’t match up with the app I use. However the activity (strain on whoop) are always really close which is one of the things I really like. My only issue is to refine the HRV and sleep so the recovery score is a bit more consistent. I’m glad I found this app early on in its development so I’m excited to see how it goes!
bmidy_6,
just one problem
want to start off by saying I love this app- everything in my opinion works great- as a athlete knowing my activity levels and recovery levels is vital- and knowing my sleep patterns are just as important. One thing I would like to express about the app is the journal entries. for some reason every time i try to make a journal entry and click submit it doesn’t work. I see that it says journal(beta) so i don’t know if maybe the developers are still working on it but if not I would like some input to try and fix this problem. it may be me, or it could be the app- either way I can live without this feature but still would like to know why it’s not working for me
AppUsr123,
Was ok for free, not worth paying for
I downloaded this app a few months ago, when it was all free. For a free app it was broadly fine- there were some very silly mistakes that were tolerable because it was free - ie the charts had the wrong days of the week, it would show “Sun, Mon, Wed, Thurs, Fri, Sat, Sun”. I submitted this feedback but it was never fixed. The sleep data also had regular issues updating. The descriptions of what different terms meant was vague.
Now that ALL of it is behind a paywall it really doesn’t seem worth it. Maybe the AI insights? It’s had to know what those even are because they were not available to me during the “free trial” period that I didn’t even know I was in. The fact that even the silly charts that are mislabeled are behind the paywall is like the nail in the coffin.

If I’m going to pay for an app it’s going to be a better quality one.
lkrmr,
App was Okay… Sudden switch to a Pay to Play? Maybe not so much.
I’m really disappointed in the sudden switch to a pay to play platform. There were no pop ups warning of the change. I’m all about developers getting paid for their work. But it seems like there are some features that could have been kept in a free (or with ads) version. Everything is pretty much locked behind the pay wall now except for the main Home Screen. That being said $30/year isn’t much but I don’t like the bait and switch and don’t feel that the apps features are particularly with a subscription fee since a majority of the data is already available with the Apple Health app.
lmsmol,
Could be great!
There is a lot of promise with this app. Positives: Excellent activity monitoring (better than Whoop, on par with Athlytic) for Apple Watch users. Comparable to Firstbeat for Garmin users. Allows chest strap HRM via Apple Watch which separates it from Whoop. Sleep metrics, allowing for some user adjustments for sleep time, is comparable to Oura. Negatives: (1) refresh times are slow, and HRV values for recovery appear inconsistent with other HRV metrics (HRV4training, Apple Watch Breathe). Overall - excellent promise with potential.
Current version is even better, particularly graphics.
