Balboooooo,
Works decently when it connects, but often it doesn’t
I suspect the real culprit in the inconsistent ability to connect is the Balboa server. When they have outages, sometimes lasting an entire weekend, don’t expect to get an explanation or report, even though they have all their customers email addresses. Balboa keeps secret how to contact anyone who actually controls the development of this app. App is also missing some really easy features that could be included, like the ability to check or uncheck your various pre-programmed schedules to turn them on or off, i.e. be skipped or be executed. Instead, when you need to deviate from your normal schedule, you have to manually change the set temperature/time on your pre-programmed schedules and remember to change it back.
Carltona,
It could be SO much better
I paid a lot extra to get Wi-Fi for my Vita Spa and this app is just marginally better than calling my neighbor to check on my spa when I’m gone for an extended time. I have no idea what the thought was behind the schedule feature and it’s currently useless to me. It’s one of those apps that is designed by a big company but has low priority and probably was freelanced.
What should you be able to do but can’t ?
1- Set home and away modes that have different filter and temp schedules like if you have the Spa in Vermont and spend a month or two in Florida. The current schedule tab may have been for this but it’s incomplete and doesn’t work.

It does control the spa but it’s very slow to initially respond you have to wait 10-15 seconds for the phone screen to update with what’s going on. It must go into a stand-by state and wakes up, collects it’s info, then reports in. Subsequent commands are also slow to respond once awake. The app requires patience but I’ve also had it fail to report back and have to relaunch the app. Usually responds on 2nd or 3rd attempt. Because this is a VERY slow system I probably didn’t leave enough time between close and relaunch. The other thing that would help is some actual instructions that properly set expectations on response and functionality. What’s the difference between this app and the BWA app?
spaman2,
Barely works.
I would throw this app in the trash but because of our spa layout getting to the topside controls is nearly impossible when not in the tub. This app was the answer allowing us to change temps before we get in and turning down after we get out. BUT this app is down about 33% of the time. Either the server is not working or it can’t grasp you login credentials. When it works it’s great but when it doesn’t there is no one to call. You just hope and wait for someone to fix it but that could be 1 hour or 1 week. You have no idea. How a company can sell a product with no service is beyond crazy to me. I think they got beyond their capabilities and now are stuck with customers demanding that it work but don’t have a clue what to do and don’t want to give refunds. Stay away and save your money.
Doodle808,
It does work
So I disagree that it simply doesn’t work. Over 4 weeks of use, it has done what it needs to: turn the pumps on/off, change the temperature, change the filter schedule, etc. Except the two times the server was down, it did what I asked every time. But it is awful the screwball way that you touch a button then it flips back to the prior setting then in maybe 5 or 30 seconds jumps to what you want. Very confusing. Setup was ok, except they declare they provide zero end-user support, and you are supposed to rely on the store you bought it from which is sales guys who don’t know the technology. So you are on your own with poor FAQs and a funky app. Good luck. But it does work for me.
Steve S22,
This is awful
I’ve owned by hot tub for two months and can confirm all the bad reviews on here are warranted. The app/spa don’t connect the majority of the time. When it is connected there’s a huge delay, many times up to a minute or more between when you hit a button and when it shows up as having been pressed on the app…..so you don’t know whether you need to press it again or not. This is supposed to be a high end hot tub and that should include the app/user interface. They owe to everyone to fix the problems even if that means swapping out the hardware and upgrading or replacing the software. I will not recommend Marquis to anyone till these issues are fixed.
Garith of Blackhand,
Useless App
I am beyond disappointed in this app. Not only does it seldom work, but there is no support to help with problems. I don’t know if it is an issue with their servers or with the app itself but neither seem to work at all. After registering and using the app, the app stopped working with the app stating my login information was invalid. Since my phone auto fills in the information I knew it was correct. I tried restring the password only to be told that my email could not be found. I tried re-registering the spa but was told that an account already exists. Very frustrating to buy an upscale spa with the app not to work and no assistance.
Mappleku,
Almost didn’t get it but glad I did
Read so many bad reviews that I almost didn’t get it but very happy I did. It definitely can be improved upon and the connection is slow but serves its purpose for me.

Tips - be patient
It takes time to connect when launching, it may seem like it’s connected but if you make changes, it doesn’t go through. I usually give it a minute before doing anything and if needed double check the spa and account settings to make sure what I set went through.
BradnBri,
The app works less than 50% of the time
We have had our new spa since Dec 2021. It came with the remote service installed and the “Control My Spa” app. It rarely works. When I need it to function to adjust the temps, it says online- even when the green light is lit on the module. When it does decide to show online, the features decide to not work. It shows offline more than online. I have had our internet connection checked to it, and we are exactly where we need to be. I would never recommend this product to a consumer.
SergiiP.,
Most times work
Well, it works most times. There are flaws I noticed: * Update modal appear for a second and then disappear * The temperature pop up does not fit the text, I see only “ Temperatures was changed to” without actual number on IPhone 12 * The delay between click and the jet starts is significant, even if it works not directly but through the server * Sometimes the data is refreshed when I make a change, like temperature, and my change got cancelled * Sometimes the spa is showing it is offline right after the command was sent
Fkbfkgk,
Confirmed as junk
Dealer gave me the module for free, now I know why. Disgraceful that Balboa can’t make a product that provides reliable direct wifi control. Let’s be clear, this is not a wifi module! The two module devices use “RF” to talk to each other, then link to the internet and the backend server that your phone app is talking to. All of this takes time, so long delay, complicated by a weak RF module to module connection. From all of these reviews, seems they’ve had years to figure it out. They should not be taking people’s money for this product!
