Todd Levine,
WHEN it works it’s great !
I am so torn I am out of stars to give this app in the G7 center. As I mentioned above, when it works, it is great. It has helped me change my lifestyle around a lot by being able to monitor my glucose. On the other hand, I can’t tell you how many times my phone can be literally inches away from the sensor and it loses the signal! This happens every single day, and multiple times per day! I have been using the sensors for about four months now. I have already had two DOS sensors , that the company needed to replace for me.

Someone else mentioned how this app is a serious pain sometimes! When it loses the signal, as mentioned above, it is a major PIT!!! it has constant loss of signal notifications to both me and my girlfriend. At nighttime, I can temporarily turn this off. It’s sort of defeats the purpose in case something major happens during the time I am sleeping though. Most of the warnings are related to the constant loss of signal alerts. The other warnings with my glucose either being very, high or low, is definitely worth having!

I am torn on how to rate this app. If I had to deal with the potential, I would give it a five. If I had to do with the reality of what I have been dealing with, I would give it a zero. They are definite benefits to having us. So I gave her three stars.

Good luck to everyone that is trying to control your glucose levels!
Just Island,
Critical Alerts Requirements create issues
I get the need for critical alerts. I really do. But having those alerts going off in an important meeting because my sensor has expired is kind of a pain, especially when pharmacies are often unable to fill new prescriptions in time to prevent interruption. Since the only option in that situation is to turn off critical alerts, the next big pain is that when I have critical alerts turned off I lose access to data from the app until I’ve procured and activated a new sensor.

Overall, this device has helped me make huge improvements to my glucose management. The historic data is a bit limited, but integration with Apple Health helps with that. Having to track that data through an outside app is a little frustrating, but overall, it does what it needs to do.

Again, I understand the need for critical alerts. Not all of us have issues with dangerously low glucose levels, though. Some of us just need good data so we can have successful ongoing glucose management. Give us a little more control over what constitutes a critical alert, and at least give us access to data when we don’t have a sensor active.

Extremely unreliable
While the g7 is much smaller, lighter, and more comfortable to wear than the g6 it’s reliability renders it borderline useless. If you use your phone for business calls or work in a quiet environment the g7 is not for you. The app requires you to enable (loud obnoxious) critical alerts to function whatsoever. If you disable critical alerts then the app won’t function until you reactivate them. The critical alert alarm will blare on the phone’s speaker over an active phone call you may be in. The worst part about the g7 is actually the connectivity to the sensor is extremely unreliable! 90% of the loud alarms (critical alerts) will be to notify you (and everyone else around you who hears them) that their has been a signal loss. The app will
lose signal while the phone is inches from the sensor. The signal loss does not seem to have any correlation between the location of the phone and sensor when it “loses signal”…. except for when you put your phone in the pocket on the opposite side of the g7 sensor or move more than a few feet from your phone. When a signal loss occurs I am lucky if it is only 20-30 minutes of connection loss down time, often it is 2+ hours of signal loss before it finally reconnects.
Bmigues,
Decent App for CGM
This is not my first CGM as I’ve used other manufacturers for quite some time now. I’ve been using this app and CGM for about 3 weeks now and am on my 4th sensor. The first one I used worked but was horribly inaccurate and it eventually lost connection and failed. The second was DOA. The third lasted a few days, had to be constantly calibrated and also started failing to connect. I’ve submitted for replacements and they have been approved. The fourth, which I have on has had to be calibrated twice. Typically the morning readings are off by 10-20 points which makes no sense because it should be a steady reading.

App usage - this is a well thought out app. The sensor reports to your phone and watch via Bluetooth. It connects and reconnects every 5 mins or so per the instructions. Some nice additional features: 1. time stamp on when it connected last. 2. data sheet that will show the history of all the connections and readings that can be exported. 3. Change the color of the grey band on the graph to green so it matches the “range” colors in the bottom. 4. Delete previous Bluetooth sensor connections when new ones are added.
carbonware,
Great but could be better
I love the new app and start up speed. But the lock Screen widget never shows up on the widget list for me to install. Only the Home Screen widget which I don’t find very useful since it’s just as easy to click on the app.

I do wish they’d add my score to the app icon so I don’t have to click on it to see it just like weather or mail app’s display the date, temp, email count etc without opening them.

Also the app does not stay in communication with my iwatch very well. I always have to open my phone, launch the app and then it updates my watch. That defeats the whole point of being able to discreetly check my iwatch. By the way I’m in an iPhone pro max 12

Bugs
When this sensor works it is great, but I keep having problems with the app. It sends me an urgent alert that I need to turn on critical alerts in the settings, but then when I click through to turn on those critical alerts there is no option to do so. I have turned on all the alert options I have for the app and still I get the message to allow critical alerts in the settings. It is preventing me from pairing my new sensor right now. I thought that this might be a temporary bug with the app, but it has been a recurring issue for the past few weeks. It makes me worry that I will have to waste a sensor because I cannot get the app to allow me to pair it. If this issue can be resolved I would give the app a very high rating, but with the current issue with being unable to turn on critical alerts and thus being able to get past the notice, this app is behaving like a lemon. I have updated the app, and I have the latest operating system and security updates. This is very disappointing.
NoSaintEJB,
App update break calibrations?
Did the app update 5 days ago break calibrations? I have had to put on 2 sensors since then. In both cases when I did a calibration 8 hours after inserting the first one and 12 hours after the second one, it has totally messed up the readings. On the next sensor read it jumps to an extreme value in the opposite direction and doesn’t move closer to the blood stick. Just keeps going in that direction. More calibrations do nothing to adjust it.

Before developer replies and tells me to fill out that form cuz you want to talk to me, I did that for my last review that I just had to edit for this one and never heard back from you. Does the developer actually follow-up with people?
no good app from verizon,
Loss of signal
The g7 app loses signal easily and frequently. Occasionally when I have the iPhone on my nite stand it will crash. It doesn’t show up on my Apple Watch and I have upgraded it to current version. When I tap on it because nothing is showing nothing happens. The initial accuracy is questionable. I’ve had over 100 pt differences in the g7 over the meter. If I am gonna have to double check every reading for 1 to 2 days after installing it kind of defeats the purpose of the thing. I have numerous alerts in the wee wee hours of the morning and when checked with glucose meter found be wrong > 20% difference and calibrated the unit. While the ease of installation is a benefit, the loss of accuracy from the G6 to the G7 is too. I have gone from a relatively straight line glucose readings to an extended period of big peaks and valleys which correspond to my change to the G7.
ailsaek,
OK so far, but…
I find it really frustrating how limited the app is. It keeps track of my blood sugar readings and lets me enter how many carbs I’ve eaten. Nice, but really insufficient. Being able to note what those carbs were, or how I’m feeling at any given point, would be really useful. If I’m feeling lightheaded, there’s no way to note that, or to track at what levels I get that way. And there’s no way to note if, say, I ate a poke bowl with next to no carbs or a couple of Canada mints. Same carb load, probably different reactions. I’d really like to be able to manage my diabetes in one place, rather than needing to keep track of a bunch of different apps. I found mySugr much more helpful while I was using it.

Serious step backwards from G6- won’t stay connected
If possible, this is even worse than Abott because it keeps you on such a short leash. You can’t leave your phone on your counter or desk at home as it disconnects within feet. It wakes me up when it disconnects several times a night when it is within 2 feet of my phone. The G6 was almost perfection. I would rather have the larger, separate transmitter that stays connected and has decent range from the phone than this smaller, self contained unit that is unable to maintain a signal and demands that your phone be on your person 24/7. Trying to figure out how to get this to an Apple Watch... Do they not TEST these things before they release them?
