Greasefat,
🤔
Recently received the Deeper Start edition right when the UI change launched. I had been using the app without the sonar just for calendar and other stuff to get familiar with it once I received the unit. I wish the new UI had launched when all the features were ready. It now feels like a very hum drum experience. I also have to restart my phone every time I want to use the app. It doesn’t make sense. I open the app and I get a black screen with the blue header at the top and it just hangs. Once I restart my phone it works well. I will gladly update my review once all the features are restored but for now I am a little bummed. Especially with the fish alert being turned off. Seems more like the beta version rather than a full release. Would’ve been fine with the old version rather than receive 1/3 of the new version. I’m sure once all the features are in place it will be great.

Aside from that, make sure your unit and phone are fully charged and shouldn’t have any connection issues. I also turn off the cell radio on the phone to make sure there isn’t any interference.

A waste of money, poor customer service
I love the thought of this product, it’s compact and compatible. Except the Deeper didn’t work out of the box like it said it would. 1’-130’ is what Deeper says it can function for range right on the side of the box. I can not get 10’ from my iPhone or IPad without it losing connection, no matter if I run the radar in basic or detail mode. Tried for a few weeks contacting them to find out what was wrong. No help, made me sound like I didn’t have a problem. So if you want to cast with your Deeper, I would recommend strapping your phone to the end of your line as well. Last summer I was using this basically over priced tennis ball on my kayak which I’ve made a special mount for. P.S. “DO NOT USE their flexible arm mount they offer for this product, the clamp is cheap and can fail and I’ve witnessed it. The Deeper floats, but not with the flex arm attached to it.” With the Deeper sitting basically next to me it works. NOW the app crashes every time I try to open it, yes I’ve updated it and I run the newest IOS on a iPhone 8 Plus. Last week I spent 20 mins just trying to sync up the Deeper to my iPhone ice fishing and I’ve stayed quiet long enough. So thank you Deeper for everything. Maybe I’ll attach the flex arm to my Deeper and watch it sink and in 50 years if the find it, they can figure out what you couldn’t.
grifftastic,
Nice new UI but needs improvement
I have used the Deeper pro Plus for the past year and really enjoyed it. One of my favorite memories was using the device fishing off a small dock and listening to the pings of the fish circle my bait.

Also it asks you to choose what mode you are wanting to use, from the boat or from the shore for example, when using this from a boat or in my case a kayak, it would be nice to be able to know the speed as well, there is a place for this in the UI but it does not appear to be working.

As far as the pros, I do like the feature that shows the depth of the fish, You can either adjust it so that it shows how deep the fish are or how far off the bottom they are. This is perfect for me to quickly readjusting the depth of my bait. I really like this device and I hope they continue to add an update with even better features. I know the next version “the chirp” is coming out and I would be interested to see the difference.
quick rabbit,
Good for kayak and Sea Doo
I don’t have any stability issues or any problems related to that. I use it fishing on my kayak and on my Sea Doo in saltwater. It works as advertised, extremely portable, and other than some string to tie to my rig there is really no installation setup. At times I will attach it to my fishing rod and cast the deeper into areas that I am worried may be too shallow for my Sea Doo. I would hand it 5 Stars but I can’t seem to get the fish icons turned off so I can view the raw “boomerangs”. However that is the only petty gripe. I would recommend it to others.
LiftedFishin,
Deeper pro + with newest update is amazing on iphone!
I have an iphone 7 with ios 12 and the app runs great ...for people having issues with loosing connection turn off cell data and use just wifi most new phones are set up to auto switch to cell data when internet is lost on wifi i have landed some awesome fish from my little trolling boat i bring a usb battery charger to recharge on long days of fishing took about 2 hours to recharge and as far as people having issues with white map download the offline map for your state in settings ..absolute fan and supporter of deeperpro+ keep up the good work and updates and ill be a supporter for life!
thirtycharacternickname,
Product stopped working when they released the new app
The product (Deeper Pro+) worked gloriously with the old app. Then this company committed the cardinal sin of trying to fix something that wasn’t broken by releasing a new app before making sure it would work. New app is marginally prettier than the old one, but now the product doesn’t work anymore.

When thrown in the water, yes, the product does connect; the wifi settings show it's connected, and it does relay the battery percentage, showing me this afternoon the product has a 79% charge. But it doesn't send any data when I start a session. No imaging shows on the screen. Yes, the water I'm throwing it into is deeper than 2 feet. (The product doesn’t work in less than approximately 2 feet of water.) This isn’t a case of user error. I've worked this product just fine when the old app was in use. It's a case of corporate idiocy.

There are other problems with the app. The offline maps feature doesn’t work. It won't play historical data (data taken from the prior app). I've reported these problems. Still not working after 2 or 3 updates.

The don't waste your money on this product until they dig themselves out this needless yet cavernous hole they've dug for themselves. I'm patiently waiting.

Major Issues with New Version
If you have an older version of the app, I highly recommend to keep it. If you absolutely must check out v8.x, do it on a secondary phone. The new version has some major flaws that make it nearly impossible to use.

In order to use the new app, you have to cast the deeper, then on your phone you need to:
1. Tap to connect to deeper
2. Choose session type
3. Start recording the session

In addition, the new version only works in portrait mode which makes it very difficult to hold the phone. All the extra tapping and the uncomfortable phone position make it very challenging to use the app when you’re balancing a rod in the other hand while getting hit by the surf.

In addition, I’ve seen increased connectivity issues with the new version where the deeper is reporting loss of connection to GPS. This was not an issue with the old version.

Bottom line is that it’s gotten so bad that the deeper hasn’t left my bag since the end of August
Kenman1234,
New app version should have not been released.
I was looking forward to using Deeper on a fishing trip this weekend. Previous version of the app I never had issues connecting. This new version was nothing but problems. First there where the problems getting it to actually connect, then problems staying connected. Tried on multiple devices with the same issues. Only would work briefly after rebooting device. Very disappointed a new version would be released with these types of problems. Bring back the previous version till this one is fixed.
Nathan the man,
Deeper Is A Game Changer
I have been using the Deeper Pro+ and I have seen great results for both freshwater and saltwater. After doing extensive testing I found that this wireless sonar proves to be accurate and effective. I would highly recommend this product if you are land based fishing or if you are fishing off a jon boat or kayak. It works to give you vital information that will help you catch more fish.
Bradbin06,
Old app was much better
Used to love my deeper fish finder but now with this new app it’s rendered it basically useless. The app is constantly locking up forcing me to close it take the deeper out, put it back in, Restart the app and reconnect all to have it happen again in 5 mins or less. Also noticed it won’t tell me how fast I’m moving anymore which was very useful for trolling. Please make the old app available for us with the old deeper 3.0. I will say the new interface on this new app is nice and a lot smoother, also like the pause and resume sessions they added. But like I said the problems have made it so I can’t even use the deeper anymore
