Description

ECG+ integrates with Apple Health to unleash the greatest power of your Apple Watch ECG, by analyzing and calculating intervals like QT/QTc, PR or QRS, and heart rate variability (HRV) out of your ECG data. QT/QTc are critical measurements linked to life-threatening arrhythmias. HRV is widely considered one of the best objective metrics for physical fitness and determining your body’s readiness to perform.

HRV refers to the variation in time between successive heartbeats, which is an indicator of the health of the autonomic nervous system. QT interval refers to the time it takes for the heart to recharge between beats, which is important for assessing cardiac health.

In the ECG+ app, you can do many things about your ECG recordings from Apple Watch ECG -

1. HRV Trends - with HRV trends you can learn your health level changes. A up hill trend means a better physical fitness level and a down hill indicates you should pay more attention to your overall health. With QT trends you can monitor closely your QT intervals over a period of time and seek healthcare attention whenever a prolonged QT is identified automatically.

2. Measure QT and calculate QTc - ECG+ app automatically identify and measure QT for you, and you can choose one out of 6 QTc formulas to do the QTc calculation

3. Long QTc warning - the app automatically calculates and shows a long QTc warning if a QTc is exceeding the normal range (normal range is based on gender)

4. ECG report - ECG+ app provides a much more comprehensive report than the default report from Apple Health, and it includes R-R markings, HRV Poincaré plot, 6 intervals, heartbeat signatures and more, with which you can get a much clearer picture of how your heart is functioning

[Disclaimer]
All findings associated to the ECG readings in the ECG+ app, including but not limited to PAC/PVC detection, Long QT detection and HRV calculation, do NOT suggest diagnosis. It only provides more information for you with which to consult your doctor, not as a substitute to doing so.

The latest version of ECG+ has been revamped to work seamlessly on iPads, requiring iPadOS 17. With the benefit of the larger screen, you can now easily examine the finer details of your ECG readings, making it simpler to understand your health and heart information. Furthermore, the algorithm has been enhanced to version 1.1, effectively eliminating spike noises in the ECG readings, thereby providing cleaner RRs readings for HRV calculation. Consequently, this refinement ensures that false, excessively high HRV results are mitigated.

In the latest update of ECG+, we've made some improvements to the algorithm for detecting PACs and PVCs. Now, it's easier than ever to filter and identify recordings with "skipped beats." Plus, when you share your ECG data with a doctor using PDF reports, it plainly highlights the possible presence of PACs or PVCs for their review.

Sync HRV and Beat-to-Beat measurements with Apple Health so that you can view them in one place; monitor your QT intervals, including Long QT warning and QT trends over time.
1.3.4
2023-01-21
This version introduces a new feature to hide/unhide ECG readings, calibrate QT measures on top of QTc Trends. A customized long QT threshold can be set to enable Long QT warning. LQTS is a condition can cause sudden fainting and seizures. Also for HRV calculation SDNN can be chosen as opposed to rMSSD, if preferred. rMSSD is widely backed by research and is considered the most relevant and accurate measure of ANS activity over the short term, and SDNN is being used by Apple's HRV monitoring.

Northern RN,
Great App!
I am new to Apple Watch. Little did I know that the day after I got the watch and had put this app on it, I would be using it to check my heart. I had a slow heart rate with some premature ventricular contractions that did not perfuse and was short of breath and did not feel well. I know that you can’t use a strip like this to diagnose but I ended up going to the hospital and it let the doctor know more about what I was experiencing. I had printed copies of several of my episodes. The doctors and nurses were impressed that the ecg tracing was so good coming from a watch. Thank you!!
Waveabe,
Great device re. ECG
The only problem is if you have an athletes hear you can’t get an afib. reading under a pulse of 50. Athletes heart rates resting are 30 and above. Apple needs to change that. It’s not as accurate as it could be therefore excluding many people. Love to exercise. Endorphins are the best drug out there for everything 🙂
chris-c-thomas,
Great app in addition to Apple’s!
I like using this in addition to Apple’s report because it’s a bit easier to see and visualize. I can still send either report to my doctor no problem.
Ceecee1006,
Check your watch
App Store info shows it was compatible with my phone. No listing for checking your watch nor does it list which watch series are or are not compatible. Nor gives any info to make you think this is something you need to check. After purchase, during setup, the app asks which watch series. At this point it states the app won’t work on series 1, 2, or 3! Would’ve been nice to have seen that first in the app info before purchasing!!!
dr.reno-nv,
Much clearer than the default health app
Love this app for a number of things.

1. The strip is much easer and clearer to read with finger gesture to zoom in/out
2. I can change amplitude and pace, this is a game changer, you know it when you try it
3. HRV is an add-on which is nice

A few things missing but would be nice ti have.
1. QT trend
2. Calculate HRV with different methods
3. Write HRV back to health
4. Show PQRST rather than only R

Don’t thank me, thank you, this is an awesome app!
Oz j,
Is this a novelty apps?
My Heart is the hardest working muscle working in my body! I get a crack to see my heart on a graph. I am told even though it is a novelty it had saved peoples life.
Left Handing Too,
Unreliable
I bought the Apple Watch for the sole purpose of using this app by the recommendation of my doctor, but it does not reliably capture by heart rhythms. I receive a “poor reading” no matter what I do. I have no confidence it will work to capture atrial fabulation in a true time of need, and I have wasted quite a bit of money on a watch I have no other need for.
MD Leonard,
So far so good.
Anyone know what it means when the R in black at the top turns red or purple?

Thank you for the response. That is exactly what my doctor said.
Ramdas Narayanan,
Brilliant execution.
Thank you for this. I had been wondering why it had not been done so far.
Taconia,
Good until it wasn’t
This app worked quite well for several months, or maybe a year. Then it began to falter, and finally it simply wouldn’t take a ECG. And I have found no correction for this even reinstalling it more than once.
