F8 Control is an app that enables remote control of the ZOOM F8/F8n/F8n Pro.
With it, you can use an iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch (5th generation and later) as a wireless remote controller for an F8/F8n/F8n Pro.
In addition to the fundamental operations of starting/stopping recording/playback and searching forward/backward, this app allows the adjustment of trim levels and mixer pan and fader settings.
You can also use it to monitor input levels, timecode information and remaining battery charge.
Moreover, using this app, you can input characters from the iOS device to edit file names and add metadata as well as transfer date and time information for use when recording.

Love-hate
Well, it works on my 12" iPad Pro... but it needs more functionality. For example, how about the same metering options (peak and vu) that you offer on the f8. How about a track mute button? How about a track solo button? (I know, the PFL is a sort of solo button, but not the same as track level solo buttons the allow you to easily select which tracks to listen to.) How about customizable track names on the sliders? How about allowing the mic on the phone/iPad to act as a switchable room mic?
Etc etc etc. I also hit a bug that shows up randomly where if I have set the trim on the iPad for (let's say) track 8, then switch screens (for example clicking the menu button) I will hear a click in track 8 and the trim on the iPad track 8 will reset to the trim level set on the physical knob on the f8. I'm willing to pay for this app if zoom is willing to treat it like a first class app.

Needs work but gets the job done
Ive used this app in several different ways with my F8. I wish I could make markers or marker cues list. I once did a factory reset on my device & had to reinstall the bluetooth file too so make sure you have the file handy. Please update!!

Handy and useful supplemental control surface
A nice addition that allows you to use an iOS device to control and configure the F8 mixer series. Doesn’t have 100% of the main unit’s functions but transport control, levels, mixing, and some metadata editing are available. Some features are not available on iOS such as all card functions and full metadata editing, but it’s still a very useful app. Perhaps future versions will have more features and will fully mirror that main unit’s controls.

If you have a updated ios it won’t work because of laziness
Update needed. If anyone with iOS 13 or above has gotten it to work please let me know how. These complaints have been happening for years and it would be an easy fix but zoom is lazy and still won’t update for new iOS so when I use this at events I am stuck running back and forth and getting bad audio quality. Even their external Bluetooth solution for older models won’t work. So what to I need to do buy an old Apple device specifically so I can remotely control this expensive device??

The F8 is one of the best mixer recorders out there. With this app, it's versatility crushes the other mixers hands down. I can use it in a car scene and be in the car behind the actors from pretty far away too! The sad part is though, this app needs an update please. I love this company and it's products. This app looks great, never bugged on me ever. I need a way to use my headphones in the app, and other obvious issues mentioned above. Besides that. Amazing app. Amazing mixer. Please update!!!

I NEED this to work on my iPad, NOPE
I appears to be a decent app, but I can only get it to work on my iPhone. iPhone IS NOT on to conflict! I’ve uninstalled and reinstall, I’ve update OS, I’ve turned my F8n on/off, restarted BT over and over again. I’ve barked at the moon, asked for a few “come on’s” and I get rain instead. Works fine on my iPhone, but an iPhone isn’t the viewing and tweaking size I NEED. On neither device is it recognized as an installed app, ask SIRI to find it turn on, troubleshoot it; her answer, “Sorry not an installed app.” =((((

Great but needs an update!
Love the app and the functionality. Tho it would be nice if the fader adjustments were a little less sensitive. So adjustments on a phone can be made without making 6 dB changes at the tiny twitch of a finger.
UPDATE for the Metering on the mixer window is needed as it does not match the fader level of the F8: for instance there is always an offset and my fader level on the app will vary by ~3 dB from the fader reading on the mixer.

Frustrated
I can’t get it to work on my iPad Air ....followed all the instructions with no results...screen comes up on the iPad but it won’t prompt me for the password I see on the F8n screen it just sits there with some random numbers....after paying 900 dollars I expect the app would work...I also viewed utube for instructions over and over again ..what little hair I had left on my head is gone...also dleated the app and reinstalled it several times with the same results....FOR THE LOVE OF GOD PLEASE FIX

I’d give a 0, if I could.
I cannot connect to either my iPhone 11 max pro or my iPad Pro. The app lists the f8n. I tap on it. It does not bring up a dialogue to enter the password displayed on the F8n. Instead, it redisplays the Bluetooth devices list again, with no entries.
I have tried this numerous times on both the iPad and the iPhone. Always with the same results.

Connect to iPad
To connect to iPad on the mixer go to system->bluetooth->select iOS 13. Until I did this I couldn’t connect.
