Colney Hatch,
A Beautiful, Engaging Quest and an Excellent Value
People complain about the $2.99 unlock fee, but this app is well worth it. A flat fee is far superior to a subscription or having to buy tokens/gems/coins to keep playing. For the cost of a coffee, the game offers a beautiful experience and some fun puzzles. It's not too hard and not too obvious. It doesn't try to be all things to all people. It's a world unto itself and you can explore it at your own pace -- slowly and with hints if you're a beginner, or blazing fast if you don't do anything but explore fantasy worlds. Some free levels to see if you like it. Definitely worth the fee if you're entertained. If you find it "too elementary," move on, genius.
Vanny04girl,
Brilliant
I loved this game. I just finished with the final level which was 18. I thought it had more levels all this time because it shows another page but it ended up being the credits page so it ended way to short. I have a few notes I still need to find but over all it was a well laid out and had beautiful graphics. The puzzles were not overly complicated and don’t use the hint button unless you are really stuck because it explains how to solve. I was not a fan of the controls. There were areas that I would try to tap on something and it would send me up a ladder I didn’t want to use. You can’t just tap back down you have to wait for it to get up the ladder. It would be nice if you could cancel or redirect mid-move. After paying the unlock fee of 2.99 I believe I definitely thought there would be more levels. I highly recommend the game though and I just downloaded jungle and can’t wait to play it after I finish finding all those well hidden notes.

Love & Questions
Hi, First I want to say that I do mostly love your Faraway line of puzzles. But this is more of a question than a review. There were a few times when I had to use the hints, and I still didn’t understand where the solution came from.
Like in Ch. 14, when you had to spin the rollers on top of pedestals I, II, & III, & the answer was half of a decahedron facing right, then half of a decahedron facing left, then a sort of U shaped object. Where did this info come from? Even with the answer, I couldn’t figure out from what it was derived.
And in level 15, when you’re going down the staircase one level at a time, and you have to stop at each level and insert numbered triangles to open the sliding cover for the next set of steps down, what was the clue for which numbers to use?
Thanks very much for your help.
Gggggghhhhhhaaaadf,
4 Stars and this is why...
SPOILER ALERT: All around a very great 'escape' game. I love the puzzles, the riddles, and the frustration of figuring out how to find all the notes! The fact that you have to purchase levels is a bummer, but we understand that money must be made. I only had to watch hints twice throughout the entire game, good feature. I do believe that the game ended abruptly however. If you are to build a story (via notes), have your protagonist escape/win/anything.. I finished the game 100%, and was very disappointed how it ended. I hope an update will come soon to add more levels without purchasing anything else. TLDR: 4/5 stars, game ends badly, purchase 2nd half of game.

It's only $2.99 for 2nd half, you penny pinchers spend twice as much on a Big Mac and this won't even kill you.
DPJTurner,
Would love to give it 5
Update (and tip): I quit out of the game and tried again the next day. It works now. Had to do that on another level as well. Maybe it’s buggy, but I’m so happy with the game I came back to rate it a 5.

——
Very addictive game with puzzles just hard enough to make me think without making me crazy. However, I’m on level 9 and following the hint, yet still can’t get the game to progress. Thinking I needed to upgrade to the full version, I plopped didn’t my hard earned $2.99, but I still don’t progress in the game to finish level 9. The developer website link is a 404. Looks like I wasted my money.
Earth Versus Soup,
Needs a motion sickness warning (no, seriously)
This game caused something I’ve never experienced from a game before: motion sickness. The especially weird thing is I’m not particularly prone to motion sickness in any way, yet I had to delete the game after the first four levels (about ten minutes of playtime) because I felt like I was going to throw up. The animations for going up and down stairs and ladders and going backwards through doorways trigger this, I think the speed of the animation is what causes it. So beware: even if you have never experienced motion sickness from a game or movie before, this game may be the one that does it to you.

Aside from that, it’s a bit of a shrug of a game, but that’s also probably just because I barely got to play it before I had to tap out.
cupcake24/7,
10 Stars!
I’m posting this on all three “Faraway” game reviews.
These were THE most challenging and unbelievable games, I have ever played in iOS history. I am absolutely devastated that I just now finished the third one. I’m not sure what to do. PLEASE...whomever is the brains behind this just HAS to come out with a fourth! ...developers...can you shed any light on if there is a future for another one?
I’m sorry to report that in my opinion, none of the other games even compare to these. While the graphics may be more advanced on the more recent games, the simplicity yet complexity of the first three cannot be surpassed. I bet you for more!
MolReaSta,
Great for Any Myst/The Witness lovers!!
I adore this game! I find it very compelling, however not to difficult. I find it is very good distraction. I quite enjoyed the simple level design and graphics and have yet to get annoyed by the music. As with most puzzle games there is little replay ability but I still enjoyed going back and trying to figure out how to collect all of the notes.

My only complaint is that I wish there was a feature where all the notes could be seen in one place instead of having to go into the level to read it, leave the level, and then go to next one.

Slight Spoiler here so be wary-

The final level, the true final level, still leaves a sense of mystery with me even after I put my phone down. I have still to figure it out and I still sometimes think about it whenever I see the app on my home screen. Hopefully one day I can figure it out. Very few games have ever resonated with me this much. Very well done! I hope to see more games like this in the future!!!
NovaSTL,
Good game, awful ending(s)
Fun, clean non-buggy interface. Nice art, I could tell some nice effort went into that. A few of the puzzles were a bit too, "Tap everywhere and see if anything reacts," but not too bad. There were several quite creative mechanical puzzles in there too. This would be a good game to play with a parent and child, working through the puzzles and discussing different approaches. Each level could be done in 15 minutes to an hour.

The bonus "notes" were fun to find, though once collected, they don't seem to lead anywhere.

The first ending is appalling. Really? Just "The End"? Couldn't even come up with a splash screen and a final note to give some closure? Unfortunately, this is a pattern in some games of this ilk. Have a few good free levels, get the customer to pay to play more, but then don't worry about providing complete content after that, since you already have their money so it doesn't matter.

So, overall I would say the game is worth playing for most of the puzzles, just be prepared for a letdown at the end.
IwantChubbyBunny,
Great game!
Over all this is a very beautiful and great game. The puzzels weren't too challenging. Usually I give up on puzzle games because they are just way too difficult, but this game is at just the right challenge level. I did get stuck a few times but luckily, I could just watch a hint, which is a pretty nice feature.

I think it is worth the full purchase because it is just a nice way to relax but also work your brain. It does however (spoiler) have a very disappointing ending. It doesn't really give out much of an ending besides "the end."

Other than that, I think it is a great and beautiful game and I do not regret purchasing it.
