Description

This app is designed to work with Filament-enabled print Bibles. It is not a Bible app—it is a unique print + digital Bible experience.

Filament enhances your print Bible with the powerful capabilities of your iPhone or iPad. You get the comfortable reading experience a print Bible can offer along with instant access to more meaningful content than you’ll find in any one study Bible or devotional Bible. Native digital content like streaming audio, informative videos, and interactive maps are directly connected to your Bible reading experience in a way never before possible!

With your physical Bible open, use the Filament Bible app to simply scan the page you are reading with your device’s camera. Your iPhone or iPad recognizes the page and instantly connects you to content centered around that passage. You'll get access to in-depth study notes, profiles of key people mentioned on the page, articles about important themes, devotionals, streaming audio, videos, and interactive maps that will help you really get a feel for the world of the Bible.

Filament also includes the opportunity to build your daily Bible reading habit with reading plans, designed to give you a simple list of the pages you need to read to keep on track with your Bible reading goals, whether it is to read through the entire Bible or just to get a sense for what the Bible says about a key topic.

Our prayer is that Filament will be a faithful companion as you engage with God through the Bible!

Listen to the Bible with the new streaming audio feature!

Your Filament-enabled Bible just got even better with the addition of streaming audio to all NLT editions. Tap on the new audio icon in the navigation bar to open the audio player and begin engaging with the Bible in a multi-sensory way, listening along as you read in your connected print edition. You can also listen on the go, anywhere you have an active Internet connection.

-Tap on the audio Bible icon in the navigation bar to open the audio player. It will be all synced up with the first verse printed on the page displayed on the home screen of the Filament Bible app.
-If the audio player is open, tapping on the icon again will close the audio player. Audio will stop playing if the player is closed.
-Minimize the audio player, and you will be able to change the page on the home screen or view Study, Reflect, and See content while you continue to listen.
-Jump to the next or previous chapters in the audio player with the track navigation buttons.
-Skip back or ahead by 15 seconds with the jump buttons.
-Control the speed of the audio stream with 1x, 1.25x, and 1.5x options.
-Autoplay will allow the audio stream to continue beyond the end of the page displayed on the home screen for seamless listening. If you prefer to have the audio stop at the end of the page, toggle Autoplay off by tapping on the button.
-If the audio player and the home screen are in different locations of your Bible, sync them up by tapping the sync button in the audio player (to change the page on the home screen to match the location of the audio player) or by closing and re-opening the audio player (to sync the audio player to the location of the home screen).
-Adjust your default preferences for playback speed and autoplay in Audio Bible Settings (inside the More menu).

We've made several helpful updates to the Filament Bible app experience:

(1) We've made navigation in the app even easier for those who prefer not to scan the page number with their camera. Simply tap on the page number on the home screen and enter a new page number directly, or tap on the book and chapter to choose where to go. Just a few taps and you are where you want to be!

(2) We've added more options for managing your reading plans directly in the reading plan interface instead of having to navigate through settings. Add a new plan, adjust the dates or notification settings, pause or cancel active plans, and more all with a tap or swipe from the main reading plan page.

(3) We've also squashed some bugs and added more flexibility to adjusting the text size in the app through either your device settings or the app settings. Find the right text size for you and enjoy Filament your way.

Historylovr,
Upgrade to Apple Pencil integration please
If Tyndall’s Filament App included integration with Apple Pencil (AP) the app would overtake the Bible app category IMO. I generally use Olive Tree Bible app but would prefer integration with AP which Olive Tree does not seem interested in doing. Whichever Bible app adds AP integration first would own the Bible app business. I expect with all the upgrades people want in future Filament updates I can see Tyndall charging for the app or like Olive Tree you would have to purchase resources either from the Tyndall store or pay a subscription fee for using app. I would pay for AP integration bc I an avid note taker, but not an avid typist. This app is very nice as is, but could be the cutting edge leader in near future.
ValerieFo,
Over played videos
I really like the concept that the filament app has, but am questioning the claim that it has 350+ videos. Are there legit 350+ different videos? Because I’m finding on numerous accounts that many of the videos will be reused in other books, such as seeing some of the same videos played in Genesis, Daniel and Revelation, and more often than not, just one video will be reused in each chapter od the same book. Are those repeated videos being counted as part of the 350?
I find this happens more often than not in the meatier books, the more touchy subject books, and it seems that the videos offered in these books are kind of dumbed down as to not upset or trigger someone who may or may not agree.
So many teachable moments to be touched on, I hope to see that more videos are offered in the future that actually coincide with the particular chapters of the book.
DaiCGreen,
Great app, with room for improvement
I really like this app so far. The interactive maps and illustrations are great, and I’ve found many that are also in the NLT Illustrated Study Bible, which is what I was hoping for. My only concern is that the app seems limited. Simplicity is nice. However, I hope that future updates will be just that. Otherwise, there’d be a missed opportunity. The option to search for themes or maps instead of having to scroll through the chapters would great. The option for side by side comparison of the maps and illustrations would help as well. More quality updates would really push this app to its full potential.
Mandileighc,
So amazing
I have been thinking about a new Bible for myself and while looking through the Bible section at the bookstore, I came across this Bible with the filament app. I have never heard of it until now. At the bookstore I downloaded the app and tried it and I was so hooked. I feel that this is a game changer for me to learn and grow in Gods word. I obviously bought the Bible and for me this is a new process so I love the reading plans option. So many resources and devotionals included and my brand new Bible is compact for me to bring and study. Not to mention the NLT is so easy to understand and beautifully written. Thank you!! ❤️

This is such an impressive and immersive tool! It is user friendly and fun! I give it give because it’s so smooth and full of material my only concern is the furtherance of this app. I invested in this bible and downloaded the app because I believe this could be a big part of the future in study immersion. I would like to see a home page to the app and also more tools and studies such as notes or devotions. I don’t have any complaints but I hope this doesn’t get thrown in the back burner. I’m believing that this network of bibles and this app and company will expand and grow there immersion and study experience.
10XFERS,
Amazing idea, but execution is lacking
The idea and how the app integrates with the Bible is amazing and smart, but there is SO much more that could and should be done with it…

The Topical reading plan passages seem “off”, in that they don’t seem to really capture the topic as well as they should. With my particular Bible, the page numbers are always one page off, for some reason. Also, there should be a way to simply remove reading plans, should the User want to, not just pause it.

There should be a way to simply read the Bible, as well. For example, my Bible was at home and I wanted to read a particular passage, but had to go to a completely different app. That seems a bit silly for a Bible companion app.

Many other reviews mention the need for a word or topic-based search and I wholeheartedly agree.

I don’t know how old this app/concept is, but it feels early, so hopefully some of these things will be taken into consideration and added into future iterations
NanaPaula,
Love this
I may not be as savvy with tech as some, however, this app has been so helpful. I do a Bible study (or try) daily. To be able to take this app and be able to scan the symbol by the page number is the coolest since whole wheat bread.
It helps so much with my learning. The three symbols to tap on and they will aid me in understanding what I have read. It gives me other chapters and verses too that are
Helpful with the current study.
I am recommending to friends the Bibles and this app. I do not need to add or do anything else to use these app. Thank you for developing it.
mrspom_,
Love the app
I love this app so much, is my go to study buddy! I love that I can use it (the study feature and reflect) without internet because I turn of the internet when I study so I don't get distracted. For a lot of things you need internet so it's nice to have something that doesn't need it for it to work. The only thing I would recommend is to maybe be able to download (in the same app) videos from the see feature and that way you can see it later without internet. Other than that keep up the great work!

God bless you ✨
Episode 2 Mary,
Great App with potential
I found this app by accident when I ordered a new Bible last year. It turned my Bible into a study Bible with incredible digital content. Study guides, articles, interactive maps, videos from my favorite folks at The Bible Project - all included.

I’m telling everyone I know that stops moving long enough to listen. It would be even better if you had a navigation setting for bibles that weren’t app-enabled, but the content is so good I’m giving it 5 stars.

I’m really enjoying it as I read through the Bible again this year.
Jay_Sal11,
A request to ice the cake for this app
Hey filament, I love this app and it’s helped me a lot with understanding the Bible, but I am a very audio based learner, if it’s possible can the app have audio on the study notes and the things we read on the study section? If not add a section where I can copy and paste the word so I can apply it through a program where the words can be read to me! Thank you, besides all that you guys did a great Job on the app, please do me this one favor and I truly believe it will increase the learning for many readers.
