Description

FINAL FANTASY III -- now on iPad!

When darkness falls and the land is robbed of light, four youths are chosen by the crystals to embark upon a journey to save the world.

FINAL FANTASY III was the first title in the FINAL FANTASY series to become a million-seller, establishing once and for all that Square Enix's classic RPG saga was here to stay.

A hallmark of innovation for the entire series, FINAL FANTASY III incorporates not only a job system that lets characters change classes at any time to the ability to summon powerful creatures such as Shiva and Bahamut.

The 3D remake of FINAL FANTASY III, with fully-rendered 3D graphics, duplicated the original's success.

- The four protagonists have been completely redesigned and new scenarios have been added.

- The 3D remake has really brought the cutscenes and battles to life.

- The Job system has been improved to bring out its best and most unique aspects, resulting in a more balanced game that is easy to enjoy.

- New save functions, including autosave, allow for players to quit the game at any time without fear of losing their progress.

--------------------------------------------

- High resolution graphics and retouched cutscenes.

- Smooth, intuitive touch-panel controls specifically tailored to improve the gaming experience.

- Gallery Mode, where players can view illustrations from the game or listen to the soundtrack, has been added.

- New visual designs for the Job Mastery Cards and the Mognet .

Mashuu77,
No controller support
Finally came around to buying the iPad version after owning and playing on psp. The graphics are clean, sound is great. Everything is there except proper controls. Ff4 has control support and works out wonderfully but this ff3 iPad version does not and is VERY DIFFICULT to control at times. Mainly the virtual analog stick. The sensitivity between walking and running is ridiculous to the point I wish it was more of a toggle that I can click to turn running Off or Always On. It can get extremely hard to just walk into a door to get inside anywhere. I don’t understand Square Enix lack of control support on iPad games such as this, Valkyrie Profile and Final Fantasy Tactics. I really don’t get it. Do they not read or see complaints and reviews? How much more positive reviews would be for one simple fix? I understand things get busy but people are spending hard earned money for these games. They aren’t free.
FoxShepard,
Instructions on saving are misleading
The notes on Saving in the Control Hints specifically say “Auto quicksave automatically saves your progress as you play the game.” So I naturally assumed that there was some kind of autosaving happening as I was playing the game. So I was shocked to discover after dying at the very beginning of the cave in Kazus that there was no autosave data I could resume from and I had to start playing the game over from the very beginning.

These instructions about saving are extremely misleading. What if I had been playing the game for a lot longer before dying for the first time and then discovered I had to restart the game from the beginning?
Proanonymous,
Enjoyed thoroughly!
Final Fantasy III is one the last FF games that I have downloaded from the Apple store. Mostly because I heard that it was slow (it is a bit at the beginning) and that the final dungeon is very long & difficult (yes it’s a bit lengthy but by that time the game becomes really challenging & fun). Just prepare well, save often, and if you are like me and don’t want or have time to slog around looking for where to go next, there are several free guides & walkthroughs online that will help. Probably a bit antiquated compared to more modern FF games, but I really think that if you enjoy classic RPG (I remember playing Ultima which gives you an idea of how old a gamer I am) you will most likely enjoy FF III. Great graphics, awesome music, and after the obligatory warm-up it becomes a wonderfully unique game playing experience.

No Controller Support
Sadly no controller support for this version of the game forces me to give it a one star review, seeing as I have waisted my money on it. I will go back to playing the iPhone version which does have controller support. Seriously, why can’t you transfer the controller support from one over to the other? You need to take controllers for mobile games seriously and it’s frustrating as a huge fan of Final Fantasy (the only game I consistently play besides Minecraft) to not have a decent way to access the catalog when you are so close. You have provided the support for so many other games flawlessly. I don’t understand the issue, considering you are charging a considerable amount for the game. It would be totally worth it if I had controller support but I feel ripped off and my money was waisted on this purchase. FWI, I purchased this game a while back and am still fuming about it.
Ultimate Rewards,
Supports only the IPad unlike some of the other FF which support both the iPad and the iPhone
I just got the iPhone 7 plus and tried download all of the Final Fantasy versions to it finding out that this is iPad version is not supported unless I pay another $15 for no major difference. I'll still give it 4 of 5 stars because it is still a great game.
Christian A. (2),
Beware the iPad version, no controller support
I mistakenly bought this game thinking it was a universal app and that I could use an MFI controller like on the iPhone version. Well, you can't. I can't fathom why Square-Enix would have controller support for a 4-6 inch screen display, but not for the larger iPad screen.

I'm guessing they won't ever update this either. I also noticed the opening cutscene that plays in the beginning of the game menu is gone and it's just the word version. Not sure why they removed it but there's some really bonehead decisions going by on around here.

Just beware before you purchase. Technically I should blame the Nimbus companion app for not clarifying that FFIII controller support is only on the iPhone, but yeah...
flyingosubuckeye,
Final Fantasy III iOS Update Is Great!
1st, this game is phenomenal, very fun to play, great place to start for ANYONE interested in diving into Final Fantasy. The storyline is great, gameplay is challenging but not too tough, music is SPOT ON & what I expect from this incredible series. I’ve been playing Final Fantasy since 1987 & currently working on FF IV The After Years & FFIV & FFVIII Remastered for Nintendo Switch & I can say that FF3 is one of THE BEST in the series! Can’t wait for Final Fantasy Orchestra Tour this year in Chicago! Download FF3! You won’t be disappointed! No controller needed, ignore the other reviews! 5 STARS!
uhadi,
Controller support please
The game is great, and the cloud back up save works between the iPhone version and the iPad version, even though this game is not a universal app.
I know the cloud back up save works because I accidentally bought the iPhone version to play on my iPad, thinking that it was a universal app just as the rest in the series on the App Store. I was using my mfi controller when I discovered that I bought the iPhone version, and the controller worked great. But since I wanted the iPad version, I contacted apple for a refund to buy the version I wanted.
When I bought the iPad version, I was surprised that there was no controller support!
I do not want to contact apple again for a refund in order to play a version with controller support, especially since the iPad is the more likely platform to use a controller with.

In short, please add controller support to this great game. Thank you
Jonny Blazer1101,
Excellent game!
Awesome gameplay, very happy with my purchase. Was a little standoffish to play this 3D version but I am very glad I did.

Not a good game for those who hate level grinding because you have both character level and 23 job levels to master (though, you certainly don't HAVE to grind all jobs and character level to 99.)

Well worth purchasing, any Final Fantasy fan will enjoy the game. Game mechanics are virtually flawless.
Cheap battles,
Cheap
The remaster itself is very good, however the game is still the most cheap final fantasy I have played out of about the 10 I have played. If you do not like level grinding, then this game definitely isn't for you, but even given that notion this game has some bosses that will 1-hit your entire party almost regardless of your level, if you are unlucky. Get final fantasy 5, it is a more balanced game that still keeps the job system but has less grinding and has much more fair boss battles.
