NEW

++ Live activity ++

To make it even easier to launch Fjorden, we added a live activity on your lock screen. The lock screen widgets can still be a bit hard to reach, esp. with one hand. The live activity starts when you open Fjorden and have your grip connected (sadly, we cannot start the LA from the background, you have to open the app first)

OTHER IMPROVEMENTS

— We now reset any focus- and exposure points when you switch lenses, or you haven't used Fjorden in a while
— We think we have fixed a crash while connecting the grip during launch. Please let us know if you are experiencing any issues with the Bluetooth connection
1.8.2
2023-07-07
— Fixed frozen view finder when recording video and focus peaking was active
— Fixed selected lens on 14 Pro / Pro Max when switching from 3.0× to 2.0×
1.8.1
2023-07-04
— Dismiss modal views (gallery, settings and onboarding) with shutter button
— Fix volume button shutter
— Fix available file formats if focus control point is hidden from toolbar

— Improve layout for close button in meta data view in gallery details

++ Video Recording ++

One of our most requested features is here—you can now record video in Fjorden

For now, we support 720p/1080p/4K at 30 frames per second. We plan to support higher frame rates in the future. You can find video recording in the mode menu, next to the shutter button.

++ Video Support in Gallery ++

Of course, you now also watch recorded videos in the gallery.

++ The Rest ++

— Fix front camera mirroring
— Fix selected lens when zooming in auto mode
— Fix a bug that may prevent selecting another parameter while a slider is open
— Retain EV when switching lenses
— Fix lens reverting back to 1.0× when digital zoom in manual mode is disabled

NEW

++ Histogram ++

Two different styles, one for luminance, one per RGB channel. Read the note
below about customizable controls to learn how to activate the histogram.

++ Customizable Controls ++

To be able to add our histogram, we needed a way to customize the existing UI.
This is not (yet) the full fledged version we teased in our Kickstarter
campaign but it gets the job done. You can access this feature through
Settings - Customize Tools, or by long-pressing on any of the tools in the
middle row (timer, grid, focus control, flash, file format). Only five or less
tools can be activate at the same time.

THE REST

— Date header in gallery now correctly updates when scrolling
— New in-app help section
— You can open the onboarding guide again
— You can also open this whats new screen again

⏵ PORTRAIT MODE
One of the most requested features since we launched last year. For now, we only support human faces, but we are working to support any kind of subject for a later update. You can adjust the simulated amount of blur live in the view finder, either via the UI or via the Fjorden grip.

We plan to improve portrait mode over the next coming updates, but we want to get more real world test data. So, if you encounter any issues, please let us know!

⏵ NEW SMART PROCESSING SETTING
We added a setting to adjust the amount of processing that is happening when you take a photo. This affects only Manual mode, in Auto mode the camera pipeline will always use the highest amount of processing, which matches the built-in camera.

1.1.0
2022-05-04
Our first new major update since our launch a little over a month ago is here, and it is packed with new features & bug fixes. The main theme of this release is the addition of a new mode.

++ New

— Auto mode that selects the appropriate lens automatically (similar to the built-in camera). This enables instant lens switching and super smooth zoom, either via the slider (tap the current lens) or a pinch gesture.
— Auto mode imposes some limitation on what controls are possible though. So if you want to manually control white balance, ISO, focus or shutter speed, you need to switch into Manual mode by tapping the A button in the middle of the second row. To go back into auto mode, tap it again. We also added a setting to control in which mode Fjorden starts.
— This also lays the groundwork for portrait mode which will come in the next release
— Simulate shutter half press: The app can now simulate a shutter half press, similar to what will be possible with the Fjorden grip. This behavior is optional, and can be enabled in settings. Upon half-press, focus, expose, and white balance will be locked, which makes it easy to re-frame your shot. In addition, there is a setting to hide the focus peaking overlays to make it easier to see the final image.

++ Improvements

— When a setting changes or a certain feature is not available in the current mode, you will see a little notification in the viewfinder
— If the focus- and the exposure indicator on the same point, you can now reset both with a single long press gesture, instead of having to long press each one individually
— Color scheme in settings matches the rest of the app

++ Bug Fixes

— Fix initial selected lens to be 1.0 again, not 3.0 on certain devices
— Fix crash when capturing photos in RAW in certain conditions
— Fix crash when leaving Fjorden and audio was playing in the background
— We won’t ask for reviews in TestFlight builds anymore, as this isn’t supported and shouldn’t happen in the first place
— Fix RAW file type overlay in gallery
— Better handle limited photo permissions in gallery
— Fix embedded location in EXIF info
— Fix erratic location toggle in settings
— Fix disappearing file format overlay in gallery
— Improve white balance preset icons
— Improve animation when expanding timer, grid, mode, flash, and file format options
— Improve white balance preset icons

Sethh16,
For a new camera app (that’s free) it’s an incredibly strong contender
I’ve used a lot of camera apps and I eventually just make my way back to the stock app after a while. This app has had me coming back to it, it’s free and has some big time features that other apps make you pay for. The UI is good and everything seems well thought out.

Very close to being a 5 star app, just needs some smoothing out here and there.
snowflakemeltingblowtorch,
The search is over!!!
I no longer have to look for a suitable camera app that works for me! I have tried every popular camera app alternate (Halide, Camera+, Camera M and ProCam) and non capture the one handed operation quite like this one. Whether you are a photographer or an everyday moment capturer this camera app will provide you with the ease of use you need while allowing you to switch to manual mode and capture with pro level settings like Shutter Speed, ISO, and Focus to unleash your creative side. Look no further than Fjorden and be sure the check out their website to look at the upcoming hardware shipping soon that will pair with this and make sure you never miss a moment!
freebiepetey,
Remarkable. Simply what I've been waiting for.
FINALLY AT HOME. As others have said, I've always gone back to the default iOS camera app because other manual camera apps just are not designed well to put it bluntly. The Fjorden devs really understand what they're doing here.

The manual controls are very simple to navigate and swap back to auto. Lowkey I think what makes me happiest is how easy I GET CHOOSE which lens I want to shoot out of. Apple's camera software is unbelievably, mind boggling frustrating at forcing lenses that it thinks you should use - resulting in flat, digitally zoomed and cropped in images. Thank you Fjorden for simplifying my day to day, run and gun 📸

I’m a photographer more than 30 years, and I traveled around the World twice to recording the disappearing cultures and primitive tribes. My photography published in 8 countries. I used to shot my photos with a Hasselblad, Leica and Nikon cameras. All my professional cameras with lenses was very heavy to carry. My Fjorden Pro bundle is a revolutionary and a wonderful camera system to do my photography. Thank you Fjorden, to made my photography much more enjoyable together with my iPhone. - Sincerely yours - Attila Fovenyessy Face Puller Photography, New York City, USA -
Terrestrial,
It’s coming along.
While still a bit buggy the app works very well with the grip. What gives me hope for this app is the Road Map of features planned for the near future. The dev team is responding to community requests and as long as they provide timely updates, this could become a powerhouse photography app/grip like none other. I have high hopes for the Fjorden company. I hope they do well and provide well for their consumers.
Jukelife,
Thank you 🙏🏼
This app is amazing. I used the Moment app before this, but the nothing was ever accurate. I’d set the shutter speed, but when I looked at the information after, it was not the shutter speed I set. That was upsetting. THEN Fjorden came out. It’s 100% rock solid. If you’re shooting photos with your phone, this app is a must. I rarely touch the native camera app on my iPhone anymore. Thank you guys!🍻
Lite flier,
Best addition to my iPhone
Well worth the investment to be able to use one hand to have actual full function of the camera’s capabilities. Using one hand for zoom, changing lenses, ISO shift, spot focus, exposure control of background and much more. The “kick stand” grip is also a plus. Highly recommend

No Video?
Dslr’s have had a video option for more than a decade. This is a huge oversight that video is missing on this contraption. Also the magnet/mic/tripod holder only fits on the camera without the case on it rendering it useless if I have a Fjorden case, which I do. The leather strap connects to nothing. Is it a keychain? Is it for the case? At any rate the handle works well and does it’s described function. The accessories however are not conducive to the entire component, meaning they are not functional additions. The case holds the grip but not the phone. And I was sent two of them.
Carbary03,
This would be a 5 star app if….
Don’t get me wrong this app is pretty incredible with what it will allow you to do, but to not include a video option in this day and age is a bit behind the times. I know most people’s main focus for this app and the grip that is meant to come with it (which I finally received after waiting 4 months) is going to be for taking photos but I can imagine I am the only one wishing for more manual controls for video. Nice try Fjorden.
mzarn,
Great grip
I really like the Fjorden grip. It makes both auto and manual iPhone photography so much easier and more enjoyable. The app is very intuitive and easy to use, and the company is integrating other photography and camera apps into its workflow. Personally I’d like to see integration with Hydra in the future. I am definitely a committed user.
