Dear users, the new version is now ready for iOS9! We added new products and reviewed several ratings and comments. The product thumbnails now come in a higher resolution. On iPad the icons of the navigation bar got labelled and Wikipedia entries are displayed in a larger window.

We especially focused on the nutrition facts in-app: it now knows the contents of water, salt, starch, omega-3 fatty acids (EPA, DHA and ALA), omega-6-fatty acids and the omega-6/omega-3 ratio. The nutritional values are now clearer arranged in categories. You can either display energy as kcal or kJ. A number of values have been added and some faulty entries have been corrected.

We hope you like the improvements and are looking forward to hearing from you. If you have a moment, please, leave us a review! We enjoy reading what you have to say!

Thank you so much for the countless suggestions and the overwhelming feedback! You have helped us to add yet more foods and improve many small details. In terms of content we updated salicylate intolerance with the latest research. Thank you!

Just a small excerpt of the improvements: the shopping list can now be printed via Air Print, the navigation buttons have been slightly increased in size and the app has a new icon.

The nutrition in-app package got new data: glycemic index, glycemic load and starch content.

If you want to support the app, we would be really happy about ratings in the app store and feedback.

As always, we appreciate feedback and reviews for this update. Thank you!

HD Linda,
Wonderful app but.........
They did another update and added more foods but they list corn, popcorn and the like as safe and according to everything I have read, corn is one of the worst foods for salicylate . Also figs are listed as safe but I have read they are moderately high in salicylate.

New updates have made some foods high in salicylates as green. Misleading
This app is wonderful! Every update has been wonderful but notice a few foods missing. One is plain corn and corn on the cob. They have corn salad......don't even know what that is. Greens (collards, turnip etc) missing as well. I would also like information on medicinal herbs like milk thistle, ashwagandha, St. John's Wort etc. I find conflicting information on the web. Every food intolerance imaginable is listed as well as other allergies. Great app.
quail,
Essential for those with perplexing food issues
Incredible app, very useful. Keeping a food diary is great practice but ultimately frustrating if you can’t pinpoint why you’re getting the results you’re getting. This app helps immeasurably with analysis, with the understanding that everyone is unique and daily accumulations of a substance will often matter more than a single serving of a single food. I like how this app helps with realizing there aren’t “bad” or “good” foods by breaking down what substances in them might be problematic for you if given in high enough quantities to affect you. Given how complex it is to uncover what works for you, and how little help doctors can generally give, this app is a lifesaver.
naama-s,
It’s absolutely GENIUS!
Very CLEVER easy to use app. If you are suffering from multi digestive issues, allergies, restrictions etc, I consider this app essential.

With this app I can combine both low fodmaps and low histamine restrictions and get a quick look at the things I can eat considering both of these restrictions. You can customize it to your needs if you have gluten, nuts and other sensitivities.

For me it is a life saver. I was going crazy trying to gather the information and compare lists from different apps and websites.

I purchased the pro version and was amazed by the helpful informative information. I am so impressed that I had to write a review.

It’s very interactive and gives you multiple options with a sliding bar to understand quantities aloud. It’s not static as most apps which gives you just 3 color options.

If I could give it 1000 stars, I would.

Thank you for developing such an app. I’m very grateful!
EQuizzle,
Nice app but disagree with some foods
It’s nicely organized, and I like the shopping list. The descriptions of different studies in things like bananas and avocados and peanuts is great, I love being informed to make my own choices.

But the colors of “danger” level are clearly subjective. You NEED to read the actual description, not just avoid every food that’s yellow, orange or red. Example: labeling “polenta” as VERY HIGH in histamine is disingenuous. They explain it’s because it’s “usually made with Parmesan”. Uh maybe some recipes? But that doesn’t mean polenta itself is high in them.

You also need to update your MSG guidance. “Chinese restaurant syndrome” as you call it is founded in racism and not science.
MyrddinYaahl,
Lifesaver
I have dietary fructose malabsorption and the app’s been a big help in three ways:

1) The obvious way; when I come across a new food or want to look something up, it’s great having a convenient trusted source (and one that keeps comments)

2) What I can and can’t eat is pretty complicated and I don’t expect others to keep up with it. This can lead to some problems when others cook though - I don’t want to refuse my in-law’s Christmas dinner or seem difficult. They’ve downloaded the app now too and it’s easy for them to make sure there’s something I can eat (especially since they only need to think about my weird restrictions occasionally).

3) Fructose malabsorption isn’t especially well known - the app can be nice for establishing a bit of credit when I need to tell someone about my restrictions (“good odds he’s not entirely making this up”).

Thanks for the great app. Has definitely been a quality of life improvement.
Tashi689,
The Best
I have many food intolerances and found so much conflicting information online I was frustrated. I thought I would have to create my own spreadsheet to sort it all out. I purchased several other apps that were a complete waste of money. Then I found this one. It has everything thing I need to determine safe foods.
It is well researched, has extensive notes about individual foods, easy to use format.
Just buy it, you won't be disappointed.
Szatski,
Awesome app!!
This is an awesome app! I just started embarking on a low histamine diet as well as no gluten, no dairy, and no yeast. This app allows you to put all those filters in and to which degree you’re sensitive to it as well. Then it rates everything by color to make it easy. And you can click on a food to read the details about how much histamine it has and if it’s a histamine liberator. Some of the foods also have a little history on them health-wise. This is great for MCAS or HIT and food intolerances!
Genau Meow,
Very Helpful
Great for planning meals at home and for eating out especially. Love the way you can sort foods by your particular intolerance. Really well designed. Lots of detailed notes on each food explaining things to watch out for and be aware of. Definitely the most helpful app for food intolerances of all sorts, and especially good for situations where you aren’t sure what is bothering you and want to try more than one elimination diet. Lets you do it all with one app! Thanks for a great tool.
Franco Spagnol,
Life saver
Since Doctors will not help us with this challenging condition all we have left is this App... i do not know what i would do without it !!! It is so incredibly helpful in navigating through the confusion of which foods to eat... plus the elimination diet we finally have hope to have some quality of life. Thank you for making my life easier and more peaceful.
Franco
eightthesandbox,
It's a start
I can't find the part that explains what "ASA" means, and the foods are rather unorthodox to an American palate (ostrich?). But I still reco it bc it helps keep a lot of info straight when your dining out or grocery shopping. Also - can we add our own foods ? That would solve some of that issue of unusual foods. UPDATE: I can't seem to update the app - anyone else having this problem? All my other apps are updating just fine...
