dr-happy,
Few issues
App can't be viewed in landscape which I would like to do on row erg. Device comes with $10 strap that pops off and stops recording. Cool part about that is the app doesn't tell you. When you go to view the ecg tracing it's garbage from the time the little popper connection loosens. And no, you cannot necessarily tell one connection loosened. Device will not connect with PM5 on C2 row erg although it seems to come close. Feel like problem there may be the PM5. Even if it did you can only connect device to 1 Bluetooth thing. You would have to choose rower or phone. So if you want to know your heart rate you have to turn your head on its side.

Edit: it does work in landscape now. I almost never get poor signal quality now positioning device slightly left of center. You connect it to PM5 by starting the activity. Then download the data to the app. Cool device cool app

Confidence
When you are in heart failure and experience being monitored for stress while walking at 1 mph by 3 technicians and gadgets hooked to every part of your body, it’s natural to feel a little apprehensive walking on your treadmill at home,…alone! Not until I got the Frontier did I have the confidence to work harder by knowing and learning my boundaries quickly. Breath rate, heart strain, workload, pulse, all in real time while you move, or bend, or lift. This should be a required device for recovering heart failure patients. I wish I had one 2.5 years ago! Good technicals but needs LOTS of work on user interface
UPDATE- I finally got the app to offer me an option to sign up, but it took a few tries. In use the app works well on my iPhone 12 Max Pro, but the biggest peeve is that the numbers for heart rate, distance, etc. are very hard to read on the phone while exercising. THERE IS AN IN-DEPTH REVIEW of the sensor and app at www dot pjfiguresitout dot com. ORIGINAL REVIEW— I spent $250 on this cardiac monitor and I expected a lot. I should have suspected something when the quick start instructions don’t mention downloading the app before telling the user to connect the device to it. What, they expect the app to magically appear on your phone? So I download the app. The app tells me to sign in. THERE IS NO OPTION FOR CREATING A NEW ACCOUNT!!! I even went to the site with my browser, still no option for create new account. For Pete’s sake, people, get some actual professional project managers working on this!
Prbrowning,
Not getting my money’s worth
Given I have all kinds of tech, Garmin and apple stuff, I don’t find that this device and app give me much helpful information for the additional money spent on it. I had some weird heart issues that I had a hard time duplicating for the cardiologist but I experienced on rides. So I got this device. The Frontier x just said abnormal rhythm. I already know that. Garmin HR and Apple Watch Ultra already give me HR zones, breathing rate and ect.

AND the interface beyond the normal exertion and rates is really just a browser interface and feels super clunky on my phone where I can get all my polished apple and Garmin data.

Oh in addition the suggested work out notifications are ridiculous. Not at all realistic for what I’m trying to accomplish.
Gordner,
Interval markers??
Sadly this fairly sophisticated device for exercise does not offer interval markers. A basic thing on electronic watches for more than 25 years and would be easy to add to a phone app. Seems like the developmental team does not have an “avid exercise nut” or good consultant. My guess is they only have cardiac rehab exercise therapists as the automated exercise motivator messaging is for adding a few more minutes at a slightly higher intensity. The “arrhythmia” detection is over-sensitive and would freak out many patients but “cool” to offer ….. As a country cardiologist, I have offered this device to patients who are willing to pay outside of insurance but took a few weeks to get a diagnostic reading of an exercise-induced arrhythmia.

Exercise Peace of Mind
I’m 53 years old with high blood pressure and on statin medication with a family history of strokes. I wanted to push myself, but be smart about it. The Frontier X2 provides enough data to adjust my workouts to meet my exercise targets without worrying that I am pushing myself too hard. If you can afford the X2, and you are serious about state of the art heart monitoring during workouts, I highly recommend giving it a try. Almost instant biofeedback is a game changer.
SumGuy33,
Doesn’t play well with apple fitness or fitness+.
If I take any reading, even just resting, it puts it in health and apple fitness as a workout. It also doesn’t estimate calories. If I track with apple fitness and this device, it logs two workouts. They need to integrate it with apple better so that the device can be used during apple fitness workouts with the watch. I’m much more pleased with my Apple Watches workout tracking. I wanted this to supplement the readings. But you’re forced to choose one or the other and if using this for continuous recording, it will say you’re continuously working out. Your rings will be a mess and good luck tracking everything accurately.

Returning. Waste of money. Get the Apple Watch.

Easy to use, lots of valuable information
Been using my Frontier X2 and the Frontier X app for a week now. Setup was easy. Pairing with my iPhone, Garmin Edge 1030, and iPad (for indoor trainer rides) was as simple as following the directions and pushing a few buttons.
The data it provides real-time, in the app and online are easy to access. Much more than heart rate, lots of data and peace of mind to know how I’m responding to my training.

Excellent product
The Frontier X has allowed me to focus my workouts for desired heart rate zones to improve my aerobic and anaerobic goals. With the continuous EKG monitoring throughout my workouts I’m able to confidently push myself without worry of creating excessive strain on my heart.

I like the insight offered by Fourth Frontier at the conclusion of my workouts. Helpful hints to keep the motivation alive and mix up my workouts to minimize plateauing.
GregPrice.com,
My favorite health tech
I am recovering from a heart attack, I love being able to share my stats from workouts with my Doctors. I’m able to chart my progress, it keeps me from over doing it yet push myself to get stronger. Watches are great for simple stuff but I feel the X2 is a huge level up. It’s well worth the money.
