My real name is Scott but within the celiac and gluten-free communities, I'm known as Gluten Dude, a passionate and outspoken celiac disease advocate. I was diagnosed with celiac disease in 2008 and I launched my blog in 2011, which now has over 700 articles and 34,000 comments.

A Lifesaver for Celiacs
The Gluten Dude app has truly been a lifesaver for me as someone living with Celiac disease. Gluten Dude has never steered me wrong
Gluten Dude initially taught me how to survive and ultimately to thrive with a Celiacs diagnosis. I had eating safely nailed at home, but had been glutened and cross contaminated just about every time I ate out. Experience has shown that FMGF and Facebook groups are not reliable enough for me. I have been praying (seriously) that Gluten Dude would come to the conclusion that if you want safe recommendations you had to vet them yourself. I am so grateful for this app. Gluten Dude ROCKS! If he says a place is safe to eat, I’ll consider it. There are some delightful places that I would not have known about if it hadn’t been for this app. And the more people who use it, the better the app becomes. I bought my Husband and my daughter their own copies of the app so they can use it to plan surprises for me or find places for us to eat when we are on vacation together. Best Gluten-free app available. 👍

So Much Valuable Info Within One App!!
This app is developed by an actual Celiac who cares about his community. Not only did he see a need and creatively fulfill it, but he is actively participates by asking for feedback, being available for questions, offering info on his FB page, and personally vetting restaurants.
I love the vetting notes feature that tells you the restaurant’s practices. Gives me extra peace of mind and saves me from embarrassingly over explaining and grilling the waitstaff (even though in most cases they don’t mind and are happy to help). Other apps allow anyone with a wide variety of gluten intolerance and knowledge post whatever they want and the info may or may not be reliable or work for celiac. With GD, users post a suggestion and it is t posted until it’s been reviewed and/or vetted.
On a recent road trip the map view was a life saver. I was able to pull it up and see what places where coming down the road and how long until the next safe place to eat. Gluten Dude also helped me find a great spot to eat near a hotel where we wanted to stop for the night. I couldn’t have pulled off my first road trip post diagnosis without this app!
Finally- loving the feature that labels/organizes establishments as totally gluten free, recommended, etc.

As a person diagnosed with celiac in 2004, I’ve seen many changes to food and restaurants to accommodate people that need safe gluten free food. I’ve used another app for years to help me navigate eating out, especially when traveling. However, for the past few years it hasn’t done a great job and getting sick for a week or 2 is a lot to pay for a mistake. I am SO SO SO thankful I found this app. Gluten Dude only posts places that are confirmed to be able to accommodate safely on both sides - from customers AND the restaurants themselves. It has made such a difference!!!! Stop getting sick from outdated information and start using this app - it literally saves me weeks of pain and agony of getting “glutened” - it should be covered by insurance as health care!

The Best Option for Celiacs
I love this app, it’s the first thing I turn to when traveling to new places. The vetting this team does of each restaurant is incredibly thorough and very valuable to someone with a strict gluten free diet. That said, because the vetting process has to be intensive, there are fewer options available than on other user-submitted apps. If you’re casually gluten free, this app is more restrictive than you might want. If you are celiac or otherwise cross-contamination-sensitive, there’s no other app that provides as comprehensive a list of truly safe places to eat. I’ll happily pay someone to grill restaurant owners about dedicated fryers so that I don’t have to 😅 as time goes on the list will only keep growing as they get more and more resources! Got a craving? GD can help!
A few days ago I was dying for a burger and fries, real fries but what is a celiac to do? So many restaurants have shared fryers and I have not enjoyed French fries in ages. I’ve lived in my area for many years and thought I knew all the restaurants I could eat at...boy was I wrong! I pulled up the GD app and looked at restaurants around me and sure enough there was a place I had no idea existed where I could order that much craved burger and fries. This place was amazing! It is not an exclusive GF restaurant but it was certified by GD so I felt confident ordering from there. It turns out they have a whole separate kitchen just for GF orders and they take it very seriously! Thank you GD for helping me satisfy my craving and opening a whole new world of possibilities 🙌 now off to find some tasty beer 🍻

Life Saver of an App
I cannot thank Gluten Dude - and the community of users enough. This app has saved me and my family countless times. We travel a lot within the US and internationally- and have always been able to find celiac safe food wherever we are- airports, small towns, big cities thanks to this app. I have tried other apps and they always left me hanging- I found they did not have as wide ranging information or as high of standards for gluten free as Gluten Dude. I want to know the place is safe to eat- not just maybe you will be ok. Yes, I bought the lifetime membership because myself and my boys are life long celiacs needing to find safe food worldwide. I use the app on a weekly basis- many times daily. Fantastic.

Great app, especially when traveling
This app is great, especially when you are in unfamiliar places. We just went to Newport this past weekend and used the app to find an excellent restaurant. Some places show up on other online sites as gluten friendly, but this app tells you that it has been vetted by Gluten Dude and you can trust the recommendation. Sometimes I go to these supposedly gluten friendly restaurants, and their big item is gluten-free bread that they toast in the same toasters as regular bread. Now they’ve added a new section where it tells you airport restaurants. At least you know ahead of time if there are any options, and can plan accordingly with your own snacks, if need be.

Finally an app I can use. This app shows me, as someone with Celiac Disease, exactly which place is 100% GF vs the places offering GF options. The option to find GF beer is great too. I am going to use this app all the time, not just for travel, but have already discovered a couple of places nearby that I haven’t tried. It also gives the option to suggest a place to be added to the list, so we as the Celiac Community can help each other. Thank you Gluten Dude for doing this! I was diagnosed with Celiac Disease 9 years ago today and already used your book to help navigate my new life. Thank you.
