Good app but…
When I landscape my phone, the app glitches to that it’s no longer connected with stats and battery info is incorrect. Shows white on the sides when I change it to portrait that I be wasting like15mins to get it to work. Really need to improve the app better.

Unsupported, Unstable App
As of May 2023, it’s been months since there have been updates for this app. If you’re considering purchasing a GoCycle, you should factor this into your purchasing consideration. The bike itself is great with excellent build quality. The app, however, is critical for adjusting the bike modes (City, Eco, Custom) to your liking. Unfortunately, it does not work and there doesn’t appear to be any support for it.

Okay, but could use a bunch of tweaks
First off, the bike is great. But the app makes it difficult to get the most out of the bike.
For starters, the way the boost graph is laid out isn’t so intuitive. More often than not, I either have to pedal too hard or my feet spin round crazy fast. It would be nice to have a different way to set the assistance levels.
Second, the UI really is lacking aesthetically.
Third, you have to be connected to the bike to use the app. If you want to play with settings, you have to turn on your bike. It would be nice to be able to use the app on its own and then sync with the bike once connected.
Finally, it would be helpful to have an Apple Watch app - I don’t always want to keep my phone on the handlebars or even take it out of my pocket - an Apple Watch app to quickly change modes or check stats would be very helpful.

Terrible app, never works. I need to delete the app and setup the bike all over again every time I want to use this app.

Essential on my GXI, major room for improvement
Why essential? The bike itself stores the current odometer reading, and battery state only.
The app tracks all the interesting stuff including trip miles, pedal vs battery power used, average speed and cadence. And it shows history for today, week, and all time. But... that info is good only if the app is running every time you ride.
Why essential #2... You need the app to change power profiles and see which one is active. The built-in profiles are a good start. Editing, naming and saving custom profiles is not hard. At 200 miles and a month owned, I’m testing profiles for decreased battery draw at medium speeds: good for exercise and battery life. App critical for that.
There’s one BIG frustration. The app won’t work reliably in the background. When choosing bike routes with Google Maps, I must rely on voice prompts and can’t look at the map after I launch Gocycle app and connect to the bike. If I leave the app, I must re-connect on return. That often starts a new trip and related stats. No doubt programming to run in the background is hard but it must be done for the app to be its best.

Incredibly poor software, I would not buy a GoCycle again
Gocycle makes good bikes, but the iOS software is written incredibly poorly and for this reason alone I would not recommend buying the bikes at this point. I wanted to change a setting on the bike and for some reason the iOS software had lost my registration. It required me to step through the entire very lengthy registration process again, checking about 20 items that can’t be skipped, filling out various information which of the very poor network connection out in the Sierra Nevada took over half an hour. The iOS app is the only way to perform some bike functions, and I learned that simple operations like an iOS update can make it essentially inoperable unless you have a fast network connection. This is terrible design, please replace your iOS app development team!

This ebike and app have great support
Version 5.2 is working fine for me. When V5 first came out, I did lose my personal settings which for me was only a minor issue. At the time, Gocycle told me they were working on a solution for V4 customers and V5.2 seems to have corrected things now. I did have to contact techsupport with my frame number because I had already upgraded to V5. But they were quick to respond. Thank you Gocycle! I absolutely love this bike and the app is an integral part of that. The live dash is really cool. I appreciate the thought that goes into this bike and its app - everything is so well done.

OK when it works
The Gocycle app is great... when it works. About 30% of the time the app shows no data or wrong data in the beginning of your ride. The only way I’ve found to recover is stop riding. Kill the app. Reboot your phone and hope everything works when you go through the whole process again. Very buggy on initialization of a new ride.

great app, for an even greater Gocycle...
Thoroughly using my Gocycle app to adjust my ride settings wherever I go. I check the terrain and distance of my upcoming ride, calibrating how much power I want and when, and presto, it’s there for me in a second. Not bad at all ;-) Fortunately I ride on a lot of private roads, so can go for the maximum speed assistance of 25 mph ! Wow. Didn’t think the Gocycle ride could be improved, so congrats to you guys / gals at Gocycle !

App is good and could be great with more developer hours.
I have the app running on an iPhone XS Max with iOS 12.2. The app does utilize the full screen and is very sharp clear and gives instant info.
The app has frozen a couple of times where I had to power cycle the phone to get rid of it. It has also lost connection with the Gocycle and have to delete the app from memory.
Would be great with some enhancements such has an offline database so we could see our data for the day and previous days. Also have the app/data interface to the health applications such as Apple Health.
I’d be more than happy to help with testing.
