I am an experienced guitarist but know most chording and theory based off of keyboard as piano was the instrument required as I learned at university. Prior to that I was self taught and seemingly useful in what I could do based on bands and recordings I sat in on. However.... It was obvious I could be more useful if I could communicate with more musicians. Ironically, my degree was computers and music using synths. After all of this I realized that what came natural via keyboard just didn’t translate to how I played guitar. Chording in particular was still pretty deficient on my end. Literally, I composed and wrote by ear and for lack of a better phrase, feel. But not anymore and that is because of Guitar Gravitas. I’d be lying if I said it has helped me to think more formally on guitar and I don’t know if I want to get too analytical, it’s partially superstitious but when I Do think that way - and this is me, others have been served well doing so - but I’m still kind of a guitar dilettante. But, I decided to check out the lessons literally today so if they are anywhere like the rest of the app it will take a positive purchase and make it stellar.

The new king of guitar reference apps
I didn’t think anything would ever de-throne GuitarToolkit. It was one of the earliest guitar apps in the App Store, and was amazing. It hasn’t been updated in years and doesn’t even support current device screen sizes. FINALLY somebody comes along and does guitar reference right. It’s lightning quick to look up any chord shape, arpeggio, or scale at any spot on the neck. And most importantly, you can preview what everything sounds like. I do wish there was a “scratchpad” where you could select some chords and hear what they would sound like in a progression (much like “Suggester”), but outside of that, this has everything you’ll need. And it’s also very well designed, easy to navigate, and looks pro. The devs did a great job.

Wonderful app, but I would like to see one extra thing if possible
This is a wonderful app but I would like to see if they could intergrade adding bass guitar as well, from four strings to five to possibly even six string bass the reason I’m asking or suggesting, it’s because I play bass as well and I would like to see alternate tunings working with alternate guitar tunings. I even go as low as .170 gauge strings. so I am in real low territory, and would like to see scales and chords to be used possibly to help with creativity. But I absolutely love this app. it is wonderful, but I actually came up with a few tuning ideas that I could not find in the section of alternate tunings, I even came up with one myself that I could not find.. another great feature that could possibly benefit this company would be to build your own tunings like I have done. but again I do love this app. It is wonderful.

Totally Worth It!
Great and error free source for a lot of well organized and useful information! Little crowded on a phone though. Maybe add an option to minimize some of the windows not being used?
You might consider adding some quartal chords and scales in some future update to make your app stand out even more, with maybe an option to turn it off in settings for those who don’t believe in them.
Big cheer for the developers for going the one time fee route and not the subscription route - good call. Great job overall!

App is perfect for what it's going for
This app has everything and more than you could need from a technical fretboard generator. More scales and chord forms than I thought were even possible.
If somehow they could find a way to turn this app into a Yousician-esc style system where you can generate exercises that will give you feedback based off of these scale/arpeggio/interval generating algorithms, it would be the ultimate app.
Can't complain about what Guitar Gravitas has to offer though. It's awesome.

Fundamentally simple and useful
While I have not subjected myself to every app in a similar category, I have used many. This is clean and concise. The organization is intuitive and avoids filling a relatively small space/screen with too much information. I find the organization of the scales simple and powerful with regard to practicing. Being able to choose between notes and scale degrees is very helpful. It simply blends so many useful tools into a single, easy-to-use application.

Supports Left Handed Players
I play left handed. This app can transpose everything from right to left: scales, chords, tabs. I primarily use it on my iPad, but occasionally use it on my phone to look things up. It is a stable app, and has only crashed when I had a ton of other apps open at the same time. I have no complaints for this app. Very useful for a beginner to advanced player who wants to learn chords, scales, keys, modes, and music theory, or just to figure out what you were playing when you made that cool sounding chord.

Fantastic Resource
I play guitar and I also teach others as well. This is a fantastic resource for looking up chords and scales in every key and position up the fret board! Also the alternate tunings is such a great help as I have guitars I’m several tunings, and it would help to feel free to open this app regardless of the guitar I’m holding. Sounds like I was paid to write this but I can assure you that this is for real. Check it out! (Unlocked the whole app for 7.99… no problem!)

Insanely worth it
I saw this on an ad on Instagram and wanted to give it a try. I played around with the free version for a while, and saw all the stuff with the pro version.
The fact that it’s not a subscription but a one time purchase was a major turn on. So I bought the pro version. Very good app, the basic version works alright but the pro version is also very worth it.

Extremely helpful
Oddly it’s very hard to find an app that just gets to the point. Need to know a certain chord? They got you. Need to do some scale work? They got you. I cannot tell you how many times I’ve been playing (I’m a moderate beginner) and I draw a total blank on what chord is what? Or even more so I need to practice scales to help stretch and learn. Thank you guys so much for the wonderful app.
