*** Stunningly high-quality piano and a full range of keyboard sound engines ***
KORG Module has five dedicated sound engines, providing a number of high-quality sounds that can be played back on your iOS using the "NATIVE ENGINE”. These engines feature technology that was developed for KORG's historic line of workstations and synthesizers including: Acoustic Piano, Electric Piano, Clav, Organ, Multi, and Hybrid. Each display has carefully selected parameters, making it convenient and easy to adjust the sounds. We’ve also carefully ensured ideal playability and designed the system for ultra-low latency. Once you experience the quality of the sounds being produced from the slim body of your iPad, you'll agree that Module is radically different than anything else currently on the market.

*** With just an iPad/iPhone and the new microKEY, you can enjoy great sound anywhere ***
KORG Module and the microKEY are the best possible combination for a mobile performance environment. With the new microKEY which supports a damper, or the microKEY Air which provides a wireless connection via Bluetooth MIDI, your iPad can transform into a high-quality sound module. In your room, in a practice studio, or performing on stage,, it's easy to set up and immerse yourself in a superb playing experience wherever you are. Of course you can also use any MIDI keyboard that can connect to your iPad via Apple Lightning - USB camera adapter. The velocity curve function conforms the sound to your playing dynamics, so you'll be able to perform comfortably using any MIDI keyboard. Even if you don't have a MIDI keyboard, you can use the apps on-screen keyboard, phrase function, or MIDI player to play the sounds. The MIDI player can load and play standard MIDI files for your listening enjoyment.

*** Mobile music production in tandem with KORG Gadget ***
You can also use the high-quality KORG Module sounds inside KORG Gadget, the mobile music production app. If you have Module and Gadget, the five tools Salzburg, Montreal, Alexandria, Firenze, and Glasgow are added inside, allowing access the same way as Gadget. Babble on One,
Redemption
A few days ago, I gave a one star, because a couple of my IAPs were only playing white noise. I tried reloading several times to no avail. After two hours of repeating the process, the IAPs reloaded properly. All is now well. These IAPs counterparts had disappeared from Gadget, also. As soon as Module correctly restored the IAPs, they reappeared in Gadget. Perhaps it was due to high internet traffic? I don’t know… This only occurred on my iPhone (SE2020, running 14.6), the iPads never experienced this problem.
I also mentioned the difficulty of interfacing with tech support. I received notice this morning that they responded to my comments. I clicked the notice, which took me to the App Store Module page, but could not find their reply.
Since the IAPs eventually reloaded correctly and a reply was made (I’ll continue looking for it), my faith is restored in Korg’s app developers… I have used Korg hardware for decades and have been VERY impressed with the quality of the iOS apps (of which I have purchased all but a couple)!
P.S. Devs, please get Stephen to sign off on an iKarma… 😉
dancinunderpants,
It’s ok, needs a couple things
The sounds are pretty good. I like that I can use it live on stage. Unfortunately there are two issues, I’ve used it on both my phone and my iPad, but it constantly drops the connection with both midi and usb mid song causing me to have to disconnect and reconnect it to get a connection. Not very good as my band has contracts with casinos in Nevada that pay very well and if we can’t perform, they won’t renew our contract. I also use my iPad to run sound at the same time I’m playing and when I switch apps to adjust something the Korg app stops working. Other apps allow me to do that. I have to adjust the sound then reopen the Korg app. So now I have to use two separate iPads to prevent this from happening. Also, the sounds are good, but are limited as to how much I can adjust them. Need more mids? Nope. Need to cut lows? Nope. Not in all of the sounds anyway. Need drawbars on your organ? Nope. Just the presets for you. Want to add distortion to your instrument? Compression? Nope. That’s only allowed on some of the instruments. I’m keeping the app because I’m hoping some of the issues I have will be addressed at some point. Don’t get me wrong, the sounds so far are better than the majority of other apps. But my Roland keyboards have the ability to adjust way more, it’s just a lot harder to do and they’re big and heavy to lug around.
Drum and Bum,
Great sounds and more
There's a bunch of good sounds in this one, and there's also lots of organs, which I highly recommend if you don't have an iPad. There's all these pianos and some extra sounds, but you should get the regular version instead of "Standard for iPhone" since you'll probably have native iPad support and the ability to get more sounds. However, I have some concerns. I purchased this app during a sale and it was supposed to be less but it must've paid full price for it. I also had this happen with ARP ODYSSEi as well, which was supposed to be $15. And where is the free Tape pack? The only thing close is the Tape Keyboard, but I think it's pianos and keyed instruments. Is it an iPad exclusive in app purchase? Anyway, go and try it, get some organ sounds, and don't be scared of the huge size; you can just install the gadgets and uninstall Module afterwards, if you have Gadget. I'd like some answers too. Lots of great organ sounds!
JRSIV1975,
A great well rounded sound module, some voices are stunning
KORG's iOS apps are no joke. I own several, Gadget as well, and there's never been a point where I've heard a patch or edited a new variable and said "This doesn't sound as good as hardware", it is incredible how KORG has brought so many iconic sounds to iOS for pennies on the dollars that hardware commands. My only issue with Module is I got it during a sale and really wanted it more for the 5 Gadgets it unlocks within Gadget. At over 1GB I knew Module was stout but accepted it...I didn't know that another 1GB+ is needed to install the five Module based Gadgets into the Gadget app on top of the 1GB taken for the stand alone app. I wish the App Store descriptions included this fact. Other than that...highly recommended.
RJWRONBO,
Can't get it to work
I was extremely hopeful for this app since I previously owned a Korg Krome and missed some of the sounds that I didn't have with my Yamaha MOFX8. I decided I would get the $99 Korg plug key rather than the Camera USB cable. You know do it right, no short cuts. Well, I plugged everything in and nothing was recognized no midi sound. Very disappointed, glad I bought both the module & Triton sounds on sale. I can send the Korg Plug Key back for reimbursement. I really wish it worked for me... glad other are experiencing success, maybe it's not compatible with my Yamaha piano. Update...a week or so later I order the Camera USB cable to try the low tech approach but unfortunately same results... What a bummer ... I don't know how everyone else is getting this to work as it appears all you have to do it plug it in and turn the volume up on your phone..... No luck.... I will keep researching and maybe I will find someone that figured it out.
RhodesChroma,
excellent meat and potatoes
excellent meat and potatoes app. this one is not my go to for an intense recreation of say, a B3 organ, but that doesn't mean the B3 isn't serviceable, just that a jack of all trades is a master of none (but, in this case, everything is extremely close.). The extra banks, I found to be worth the money. 80s EP is spot on, the Triton sounds were nice to have back. Korg really has a bunch of winners out there these days with iM1, Ms20, and my favorite, the iPolysix. This is a great app to have on the gig - think of it just like a triton - all the sounds you'd need, but you can buy a specialty keyboard that does one thing a bit better. Again, doesn't make the triton bad, just best a getting the job done on a wide variety of stuff...
trptgk,
Great app
I've been using Module on my iPad for about a year now. It's my first choice over many others that I've spurchased because of sound quality and ease of use. It really is one of the best synths on the app store.

That said (and I really hope Korg is reading this): a few tweaks would make me bump it to 5 stars. First, the ability to have it run in the background. When using it alongside a metronome for instance, it's a bit cumbersome switching back and forth every time I have to change something on the met. Second, the ability to run multiple patches, similar to the way MainStage does on my MacBook, would be killer. I would almost not even need to use my MacBook to run synths.

This is a truly great app even without those tweaks. Adding those would make it killer.
pepperdancepapa,
Great sounds - IAPs DO work in Gadget
Another reviewer posted two reviews saying that Module IAPs don't work in Gadget. This is simply not true - all 3 of my IAPs (80's EP, Wurley, Mellotron) show up in Gadget. I don't know what that reviewer is talking about.

Anyways, this app has really great sounds, which are nearly on par with the sounds you would get in a high end workstation keyboard. The EPs and Organs are stronger than the acoustic piano IMO, however once you customize your velocity curve, the grand pianos are very nice. Dark Grand is particularly good - although I may pick up the Ivory IAP at some point.

You can't layer sounds in Module itself, but if you buy Gadget you can layer them in there.
C3l3$t1n0,
Solid performer, needs way to control changes
I have been using this app since it’s beginning and has replaced sampletank on my iPad. It is easy to find a found you like for a fraction of the price of a full fledge keyboard.

There are things I would like to have addressed. For example, the 3rd party presets, if you are playing a midi file and attempt to change to another preset to hear it out it causes extreme noises, it would be nice to find a way to smooth that out.

I play a lot of organ, and it dismays me that the organ has no drawbars. I know it may be too much to ask for drawbars, but can you at least find a way to use the variation window or the plus/minus buttons so that when you change the preset it transitions from preset to preset instead of just abruptly stopping the sound? Maybe you could create 4 buttons that have preset drawbar variations of the main preset so we can variate the sound of the organ, in a live setting, without breaking up the sound.

That is why I only use the organ sounds in the studio and use Galileo in live settings. All in all, a lot of sounds for little investment, 4 stars.
Cursd,
Decent. Needs some more features. IAPs are pretty rough.
Decent representation for most sounds, but many useful ones are locked behind numerous expensive IAP's. Sound editing is very basic with certain parameters cherry picked for certain sounds but missing for others. saving presets and using them in set lists is useful and they can be reordered per song and recalled with midi program change but therein is another problem: Changing patches interrupts all sound. this means you cannot hold out a chord or note and change patches while it rings out-- the notes will be cut off. this is kind of a drag for live playing and a surprisingly huge oversight for an app that was created with live performers in mind.
