Lifetap is a clean, simple, and free life tracker for your games of Magic: The Gathering. It loads lightning fast, allows for massive 6 player games of EDH / Commander or Three-Headed Giant, and even supports Planechase & Archenemy.
Main features:
- Supports 2 to 6 players, AND includes a One-player mode that still tracks incoming commander damage and counters (Infect, Experience, etc)
- Player customization: set your player background to the art of one of Magic: The Gathering's more than 20,000 cards! Or two: partners (and backgrounds) are supported!
- Player profiles: each profile with a customized name is automatically saved along with their card art and/or color customization, letting you load your profile in a couple taps

The best life tracking app
This is it—the best MTG life tracker on the app store.
It's more responsive and looks more polished than the built in tracker for the official Companion app. There's also the option to set custom art for backgrounds. Aside from these superficial aspects, it has a ton of great functionality. You can set game/turn timers, track all the random counters that are related to your boardstate (e.g. city's blessing, infect, commander damage), can track floating mana/storm count, and can allow you to do planechase/archenemy. The only downside is that sometimes life totals will continuously decrease when you swipe down for notifications, but you can simply add it back since the amount of life gained/lost will persist for a decent amount of time.

Just a good life counter.
It is exactly what it claims to be, and doesn’t strive for anything further. You can make custom profiles for each of your players/decks, you can use card art or color gradients as your backgrounds, and the counter even includes additional details like commander damage, schemes, and additional gameplay enhancements, all without losing sight of the main reason people found this app: it has a very easy-to-use life counter system.
With so many apps claiming to be one thing and then turning a complete 180 upon install or having many of its features locked behind a paywall, it is truly refreshing to have a genuinely good app with no ads, payments, or farces.

Honestly is the best life counter.
LifeTap is insanely good! Been using it with the guys and we’re just downright amazed at the quality and effort put into this app! Highly recommend this to anyone who plays edh as it also gives access to planechase, has a mana counter for those big splashy turns and has multiple dice roll options for anything you might need! Only recommendation i can give is maybe have a planechase button to see the top X and rearrange them as you see fit as happens with some of the planes that either send them to the bottom or rearrange them. But again this app has so mucj going for it that i honestly don’t have anything negative to say. Great app!

Amazing Utility
I normally just use dice, but used to use apps like Lifelinker and Mutility. I was disappointed with those as they didn’t track everything I needed them to. This led me to using dice, and that’s what I have stuck with for a while.
I found this app while browsing social media and I have to say that I might be making a tradition back to using apps. This all has everything I wanted, in a compact and intuitive display. Great functionality and lots of nice quirks like the commander damage tracking color as well as number so you know exactly who is who.
I’d easily recommend this app to any EDH players as it’s free and amazing. Other formats could use this as well, but your mileage may vary.

Best EDH Life Counter I’ve found.
Like the name says, best counter I can find for every circumstance. Planechase, Archenemy, commander damage trackers from everybody at the table, customizable backdrops, every kind of counter you can think a player needs (energy, poison, experience, Monarch, City’s Blessing, K.O., even mana count, Storm, and Treasure tokens).
The ONE big thing is like to see is for multiple instances of the app to sync up at a game so that if I make changes to my life total or number of counters, it would auto update the other player’s app to reflect the changes, kinda like Sideboard does. And a History would be phenomenal.

Best MTG app out there!
I adore this app! All the features are user friendly and so handy. I love being able to customize the backgrounds and save players and their own commander backgrounds. The groups that I play with all love being able to track floating mana, commander tax, treasures, poison counters, etc. All the people I play with have downloaded this app and can’t get enough of it! 😎 Thank you for a wonderful MTG app! It has been the highlight of our game nights. We play all day sessions and this makes things stress free and fun. You won’t regret downloading it. 😉

Finally found a good one.
This is the best life tracking app I’ve found so far. It is simple and does everything right, plus it has just the right amount of customization options without it becoming overwhelming or too much to learn. And from my search, this is the only app that tracks commander damage in an easy and quick manner that doesn’t slow down gameplay! My search is over, sticking with this app, and telling all my friends about it.

Perfect EDH app
Our group plays a couple of times a week with anywhere from 3-5 players. We’ve tried multiple apps and this is hands down the best app for tracking everything you could need (life, individual commander damages, infect, monarch, KO, etc). Great UI with customizable backgrounds for each player (can choose any card art), virtual die of any numbered facings, all very intuitive and user friendly. I can’t imagine playing a round of EDH without this app.

The best life counter for MTG.
Just looking around for an app to help me keep track of games with the kids, and after trying a few of them this one is by far miles ahead of the rest. You can set your backgrounds to anything including cards, track all pertinent stats like infect, storm counter, mana generation and so on. Easy to use, sweet interface and the developer went above and beyond in creating this app for the community. 10/10.

Great app
This is by far the best app for this sort of thing on the entire apple App Store. However, if I could add/alter one thing, it’d be to allow people to edit which cards in the archenemy and planechase sub formats are active. For example being able disable the plane that prevents players from untapping. Again, this is by far the best app to use on the iPhone, but a simple feature like this would easily make it near perfect
