Broken
This app is kind of a mess. It looks good, but most of it simply doesn’t work. First of all, you CANNOT ROLL DAMAGE. That’s a pretty ridiculous oversight. Apparently you have to open the character sheet in your browser and set it to roll damage automatically every time you make an attack roll.
Next, the spell list may as well not exist. You can’t see which spells are currently prepared or change that. The fields for things like range, duration, target etc are all empty. And the DCs listed are incorrect, because it just uses your base spellcasting DC for all of them and disregards any custom modifiers on the spell, meaning it may as well only have the base spellcasting DC at the top and not even try to list individual DCs.
The inventory may as well not exist either, because you can’t change anything. You can’t even delete items or change how many you have. You also have to click an Edit button before changing your money for literally no reason.
Finally Resources section, much like the Spell section, just doesn’t work. Most of the fields on my character were bugged out with a generic label and 0/0 amount. It also doesn’t integrate the Rest buttons from the character sheet, so you have to manually set all the amounts every time.
SilentKittyNinja,
Can’t type
When I first downloaded this app I was able to login with my credentials on my iPad. Now that I’m getting ready to start a new campaign with friends all of a sudden I can’t login via the app because the keyboard on my iPad won’t pop up here for this app I restarted my iPad and did all the necessary software checks for my iPad and it wasn’t my iPad. So I deleted the app from my iPad then download it just to make sure there wasn’t a glitch but I’m still having the same issue to where the keyboard won’t appear for me to log into the app of my Roll20 account.

This needs to be fixed ASAP

Promising but not seamless
I really wanted to love this app. I was excited to be able to view and use my character sheet on a different screen so I could use my computer screen exclusively for video chat and the vtt.

Unfortunately, certain information from the character sheet may not appear in the app. In my case, I play a wizard in a 5e campaign, which is a prepared spell caster. Unfortunately, the app’s spell list doesn’t have any indication of which spells are currently prepared. My options were to keep the sheet open in Roll20 (which I had hoped to avoid) or write my prepared spells down on scratch paper. Both are fine, but don’t have the ease or convenience I was hoping for. I would love to see unprepared spells greyed out, or have the check marks visible.

This being said, the interface is super intuitive, and it works well without lags or glitching thus far. The aesthetic is really clean and more visually appealing than playing on the browser version. I really *like* the app, but it doesn’t function the way I need it to at the moment. If I find out I’m missing something, or if updates are made that fix this, I would love to rate this 5 stars.
Ivorywolf2468,
Pretty good so far, with lots of room for improvement
I was a bit skeptical of the app when I read the reviews, but I decided to download it and test it out for myself before I wrote it off. It’s surprisingly smooth and works well so far. Some of the formatting looks really good and clean, like the Features and Traits section, while others, like my Treasure section, are just a massive wall of text that doesn’t keep the spacing and formatting that I have on the desktop character sheets.
My sheet is also missing a few resources that are important for me to keep track of, so hopefully that will get fixed or translated over soon.
All in all, it’s a pretty decent app if all you need is to look at your character sheet. There isn’t a way to see a map or any dm handouts or npc character sheets yet that I’m aware of, and I also can’t edit my character sheet with the detail there is on the desktop version.
I looked at the little voting portal that’s on the app and people are already putting forth ideas that could/should be added, so I’m excited to see the coming updates that this app will get.
Ghost066,
Needs more work but Fantastic start!
I am just getting back into D&D and a buddy of mine uses this on web browser. I saw it on IOS App Store and thought it would operate the same since I don’t have a computer. I can not edit anything about my character on the app. It looks great and is easy to navigate from one spot of the character sheet to the next but thats all it can do unless I am doing something wrong but I did not see anything to suggest I was. But all is not lost I can use Roll20 on my iPad for the most part through the web browser even though it said safari was not supported. I have not been able to figure out what features don’t work but I can edit my character, see the map, see chat, etc. Using safari I will be able to play. Some more functionality and feature are on the way I am sure but it is far from a usable app to play. I will update my review if I find out its me and if it get an update that changes things! All in all I like the way it looks and hope for more to come!
The Mighty Ruler,
I love the work done!
I learned that this was a thing through a random survey, and I’m glad I did! This is just about all I could ask for and more! I know it early and things are obviously in the works, but some things to add that jump out at me:
VTT, so players may view a prepared battlefield. Compendium so they may see all accessible spells and information, as this goes a long way for them to find things quick versus flipping through all our books. I’m sure there are other things, but this app is already headed in the right direction! I would say that if this could be advertised more, it would go a long way to getting more feedback and getting this great app in people’s hands!

Pretty Cool
I really like the app & it’s very helpful & easy to use when I play D&D & play my character.
For some reason, I can’t cast my spells unless if it’s in my combat & some of the spells that I have; Example: Sleep, Command, & Spare the Dying are spells I can’t cast because they’re NOT in combat & Sacred Flame, Guilding Bolt, & Spiritual Weapon are spells I can cast because they ARE in my combat. I can’t cast them when I use the app & have to use the website’s D&D sheet. I can’t find a button to hit for normal, advantage, or disadvantage & would have to use the website’s D&D sheet. Other than that, it’s pretty cool & I like it!

I’ll Update the review if I can find anything else that I missed.

Developer who thinks they’re clever
I am new to gaming. New. Tried this app. Literally going in circles. I tried the mob app on my phone. I tried the website. I kept trying to create a new character. Neither worked for me. The Save Changes wouldn’t work. I watched the tutorial several times to make sure I was right. I was right. No luck. This is a horribly designed app. It is not user friendly at all. If a new user can’t use it then how on this earth will you get a new audience or customer base. I wish I could give it a zero. Is this supposed to be a game play enhancement? If you aren’t having fun before you even start then why would anybody want to use this abortion of an app?

Missing core features to make a functional app.
The app looks nice and I was hopeful I could use this for in-person dnd instead of dnd beyond since I’ve always found roll20 sheets way better for customization with homebrew and ease of use with the compendium and charactermancer, however the ability to modify the sheet using the app is completely absent and a total dealbreaker.

To iterate, this would be a dealbreaker for vtt as well given if I’m using the character sheet on a tablet or phone I don’t want to be forced to open the desktop version to make spell list, inventory, or level up tweaks. These features are a must-add for the app to be at all a helpful application.
Vikingelite,
Shouldn’t be this broke
I want to say first and foremost I am the biggest fan of Roll20. I’ve been using it for DND for years and have ran dozens of long campaigns through it. I have a long list of complaints of their website and I have to say I’m not surprised that this app doesn’t work. When trying to select a character in your campaign all it does is give you tokens that say 100 feet on them. I may be using this wrong but I can’t find anyone that can tell me otherwise. This is why I’ve started to move towards FoundryVTT. I love the Roll20 community and I hope that they fix this soon.
