Great for free, could use some tweaks though
I got this for my 7 year old to study for his spelling tests. There are so few apps that you can customize with your own words(I have only found two!) I think it would do better with my younger son, and it never 'completes' a list, it just keeps going. Also u have to go into settings to turn on or off the lists of words you want to use, it would be easier if it had the list options on the main menu. But for now it seems to interest them.

Should be okay but so bad
It should be an easy app, but they screwed it up so bad. The main issue is that no matter what letter you pick up first it will say the first letter of the word. For example in the word Car if you pick up the R it will always say C. So pretty useless

I absolutely recommend this app to teachers/parents. While it's called 3 letter words, your can actually add in your own photo and words longer than 3 letters (on choose any I had "Brianna"- 7 letters!
I made a word set for my daughter of family & friend pictures and their names. I will also be making sets for my classroom, with the weeks vocabulary words... I can take a picture and have the spelling and even a definition...
What a great app, I love the customization features, especially to be able to turn lists on or off. It would be nice to be able to turn words on or off within a list rather than having to delete them...

It's worth it -just try it
What a great concept. My 5 and 2 1/2 yr olds love it. I like the fact that you can customize your own list. It hasn't crashed on me, but if you back up your data it shouldn't be a problem to restore what you added. I just wish they had photos to use for when you create your own list. I bought the 4 letter list but I made a 6 & 7 letter list from my kids homework. Great stuff. Lots of freedom and ability to turn on and off what you don't like.

Great app!
This is a terrific teaching tool!! The pictures are sharp, clear, and uncluttered. The hints and sounds that I can turn off and on make it easily customizable for different levels/children. The only improvement I would suggest is to have an edit where you could put in the sounds the letters make as the word is respelled. Perhaps it's there already and I just couldn't figure it out.

Open-end Application
I didn't realize what I was getting when I downloaded this app--It's now my favorite! After recording over every sound, this program is entirely in my very own voice. It makes me feel so much better to hand over "The Mother Board," and my kids love hearing my voice. We customized affirmations, and even Dad chimed in. Great open-end opportunities in this FREE app!

Fun and educational
Great app! My 3 and 5 year old love it! They play all the time....during their fun iPhone time and learning iPhone time. Great way to introduce reading and spelling. Fun pics and good variety. One suggestion is to do rhyming words on order so kids can learn that for rhyming words you only change the first letter. Makes it easier to learn lots of words.
