2.17.0
2023-10-23
In this latest update, we’ve revamped the Messages & Notifications page. We’ve put a mobile-first approach at the forefront of our redesign, ensuring a seamless, user-friendly experience while managing notifications on the app.

Notification Stream
Similar to the web application, the notification stream is organized into three sections, New for You, Starred, and Previous Notifications. To enhance clarity and ease of navigation, we’ve added sticky headers for each section. Headers will stay fixed at the top of the page as you scroll through your notifications, providing clear visibility.
For added convenience, we’ve added a See All button beside each section. Selecting this button takes you to a dedicated page displaying all notifications within the selected section. You can Star or mark notifications as read from the kebab menu on each notification card.

Notification Page
The notification card will direct you to a dedicated page for the selected notification. This page displays the full contents of the notification. In some cases, selecting a notification will take you directly to the relevant page that’s referenced on the notification. For example, the New Task notification will direct you to the corresponding task page. This provides direct access to the page that’s referenced on the notification.

Improved Navigation

All bottom menu pages (Home, Search, Inbox, Quick Add, and Me) will save the last page that was accessed. In other words, when users navigate to another bottom menu page and return to the previous one, they will land on the exact page they were previously on. This ensures that users never lose the page they were previously on.

Widget Page

We have added a new Widget page to the left of the Homepage. To access this page, swipe from left to right on the Homepage. This page showcases some of the new widgets that were introduced in this update. Teachers and parents can add, remove, and rearrange widgets according to their preferences. Widgets can be moved interchangeably between the Homepage and the Widget page providing users with seamless flexibility and customization options.

Widget and Homepage Customization

Teachers and parents can customize the Homepage and Widget page by tapping on the cog icon located at the top left of the Homepage. From the customization page, a simplified view of all widgets is displayed providing seamless drag-and-drop functionality, allowing users to rearrange widgets to their liking. Users can also move widgets between the Homepage and the Widget page using drag-and-drop. Widgets are removed by tapping on the “-” icon at the top right of each card.
Widgets are added by selecting the + icon on the top right of the Customization page. This will trigger the Add Widget bottom popover. From here, users can select the widgets they want to add. Widgets are automatically added to the current page.

New Widget for Teachers

1.Homeroom Attendance Widget: The Homeroom Attendance widget organizes all homeroom attendance excusals for the current week. Teachers can see the dates students were excused for. By pressing on this widget teachers will also have quick access to their Homeroom Attendance.
2. Reviews & Progress Widget: This widget will provide Service Learning advisors with an updated count of Service Learning activities that are pending approval or review. From this widget, teachers can navigate directly to the Reviews & Progress page for each Service Learning component.
3. Lesson Experience Widget: The Lesson Experience widget will display current Lesson Experiences for all classes teachers are members of. Selecting a Lesson Experience will direct teachers to the native Stream & Resources page of the selected Lesson Experience.

New Widget for Parents

Each day is listed along with the child’s attendance for each day of the week. Parents can cycle between weeks by selecting the Next Week and Previous Week buttons directly on the widget. 2. Project Deadlines Widget: Each project the child is participating in has a dedicated widget. As an example, projects like TOK Exhibition, TOK Essay, and EE will each have separate widgets. These project widgets will list all upcoming deadlines for the corresponding project, providing teachers with an at-a-glance view of their child’s workload for each project.
3. Key Contacts Widget: This widget list the child’s Homeroom Advisor, Programme Advisor, and Principal for quick reference.

Current Assignment
Difficult to find important topic details or current lesson info. Google Classroom has set an example of more intuitive navigation.
I believe there should be an area where the Teacher / Educator could attach the last assignment or last Graded Quiz or last Graded Test. In our case last Summative. It would give the Parent an opportunity to see where the child is in current lesson . There should also be an area where parent Can note question for next Parent - Teacher conference. So Teachers are not consumed with full conversations on Manage Bac.
Ssbeisb,
U.I Is Unappealing
I think managebac is generally a good platform as far as the basic necessities go, but unlike a platform like google classroom, or even skyward, the user interface is very boring and unappealing.

Its very all over the place and not very user friendly, im used to it now, but when i first switched from Google Classroom to ManageBac it was very hard to tell where to go and what certain tabs did, and going back to my point about it being unappealing, everything is too small and there is too much on the screen, making it both overwhelming and underwhelming at the same time, which doesn’t help the non-user-friendliness.

I hope my review has been an indicator for some of the fundamental problems of managebac.
Milopårsønß,
ManageBac errors
I think the overall app is really cleanly designed, and if I ever forget what class I have its really useful, although when I open the app after closing it it says “unable to verify session”, and the retry button does not work, but when I fully close the app it works, so it’s just a minor inconvenience. The other small complaint I have is the colors for the timetable is really weird like a light grey and it looks really ugly, so maybe add some more color customization.
Roya Imad,
About manage bac
Manage bac is so annoying and if we have a better app it will be so much better so we can use it easily and manage bac me as a user it’s so hard to use it I used to be (PYP) and (CLASS DOJO) was so much easier than manage bac so I beg this person who reads this please please if u can change the app please like for next year cuz the year is almost finished so yea thank you
jojo loves harry potter,
No
Okay, I get it, it’s an IB system and whatever, but it is so much worse and finicky than google classroom. It won’t upload work half the time, you can never find your grades and not to mention when it just logs you out of the app. It is impossible to navigate for me, an 18 yr old. But those kids in 6th grade are probably failing school because of this app. For goodness sake, use any other learning app for the sake of the students. Google classroom is much better.

If a developer can answer me here, it won’t let me upload a file. It just doesn’t show up. Help me.
gyangsy,
Very Good
The app is really nice. I am an 𝙸𝙱 student and I know what I am saying. It has been helping a lot and reduces a lot of stress. Everything you can think about learning is in this app. You submit your assignments on it easily. It is only slow if you do not have a stable internet connection.
billy-bob-brunswick,
New update isn’t horrible but I have complaints
It’s kind of hard to find out where stuff is, it would be nice if there was a drop down menu on the left still like there used to be,(not asking for them to change everything back) I’d like to be able to just have a menu that tells me where everything is
RealDjaykay,
No scan coursework
Hi developers, I noticed in the latest update that there is not an option to scan your coursework, maybe it is a glitch or maybe it was purposely removed, but it was a very convenient built-in feature, I would like it to be included in the next update, thank you.
Slutjedi69,
Stop updating the app PLEASE
This app literally strives off of “fixing something that was never broken”. There is ZERO reason why the app needs a complete overhaul every 2 months. ZERO. It just ends up confusing everyone. Just stop updating the app for 2 seconds PLEASE. Literally spent 20 minutes trying to find a file only to realize that managebac changed the location to a new “resource” tab like what is a resource tab huh??????
qpndx1,
Not trusted to save work.
First the app is hard to navigate, as said by many. Second it’s is laggy and often doesn’t save work. I have to finish my writings on a document then transfer it to managebac. Simply this app isn’t trusted to save your work. Wonder why school chose this app when there are many better ones… even google classroom is better, at least it saves your work.
