Description

MaskerAid is a NEW app that allows you to quickly and easily add emoji to images.

Add emoji for jokes, to call attention to things, hide faces, and more!

When you load an image with MaskerAid, it will AUTOMATICALLY detect all the faces in that photo, and obscure them with an emoji. Using MaskerAid, it's quick and easy to obscure the faces of children, shy friends, coworkers, or randos that are in your photos.

Additionally, any images you share will automatically have ALL METADATA REMOVED. Privacy is your right, and MaskerAid helps protect it. MaskerAid removes hidden information like where the photo was taken, what device it was taken on, etc.

Using the intuitive gestures you'd expect, you can move/resize/rotate emoji to get them centered *just right* over faces and objects.

Plus, if you pay for the one-time in-app purchase, you can select from *thousands* of different emoji!

Once you've gotten your image just right, you can quickly and easily save it to your Camera Roll, or share it using other apps.

MaskerAid is written by one person, Casey Liss, who you may know from the Accidental Tech Podcast (ATP) or Analog(ue) on Relay FM.

MaskerAid does not collect your images, and does not collect unnecessary data.

FM_M,
Fantastic app!
I’ve struggled for a long time to do the simple thing of obscuring faces of people in my photos, when I use those pics in places where those faces shouldn’t be shown - a perfect example is uploading group pics to a dating app, where you want to make it clear which one is you!

I’ve tried all kinds of apps that blur, or use stickers, or whatever, and they all require a *lot* of work to get a decent result. They’re also usually littered with ads and make me feel like I’m probably giving them way more data than I want to.

This app is perfect. It’s gorgeously designed, and you can really see and feel the care and craftsmanship that went into it. I already purchased the in-app purchase for all emoji - it’s cheap, all emoji will be handy, and man do I want to support and encourage development like this!
mcassem,
Easily useful and powerful!
If you’re out and about taking pictures of what’s happening around you, it’s nice to get permission before posting people’s faces even though they’re in public. Well, that’s also not always possible, so this helps you protect their privacy by obscuring their faces with emojis quickly and easily!

It’s simple and quick to add more emoji, move existing emoji around, resize emoji, and export the image in a snap!

This app also strips the metadata for the photo, so if privacy is paramount for you — and it should be — this app makes protecting your privacy and that if others in your photos a snap!
Paramore Rocks,
Amazing little app for teachers.
I love to be able to share photos of my student’s work on my social media when I’m really proud of an assignment. Even with their permission (and the permission of their parents) I still feel a little icky sharing their faces. This will solve that problem!

I’ve done a few test runs and the app is extremely intuitive. Most of the time I don’t even need to adjust the emoji, the app covers the faces for me.

Highly recommended for parents/teachers!

Elegantly Simple
This app has a fairly focused goal, to help mask faces in pictures seamlessly, and it hits that mark extremely well. Opening the app for the first time lets you dive immediately into modifying an image with a smily emoji to cover a face. The watermark in the free version is unobtrusive, and the paid version is extremely reasonable in price. I hope to see this app continue to succeed and find its place.

Five-star rating and recommend to your friends.
Great small app that works as described. Detects multiple faces - even from FaceTime screen captures. Just for fun I added a smiley face to a bird. Why not? All this before paying for the upgraded app. I like to support small developers who don’t collect reams of data.

Try this, then tell your friends about it. Help thwart Face ID collectors.
Disturbed_Angel,
Well executed
I don’t have much need to hide faces, but I often have needed an easy way to place emojis/markers on Instagram posts either for questionnaires or to hide specific parts of a pic in a story to get folks to click through to the post, and this is so much faster and easier than other solutions I have worked out.
Ian Fuchs,
Great, and incredibly useful
This definitely ranks in the top 3 Casey Liss apps.

It’s super useful, works near-instantly, and isn’t shady like Instagram (and really, Instagram isn’t where you should be editing anyway).

I don’t often need to hide faces in images, but sometimes I like to open an image I’m MaskerAid, just to see how it handles it… and I’m never disappointed.
DMan2348,
SUPER SIMPLE AND HELPFUL!!!
This app is a PRIME example of a super simple and well-crafted app that fulfills a need. As someone who cherishes their privacy immensely and does not want to post pictures of other people who may not want to have posted on the internet, this app is perfect!! Casey Liss is an amazing developer and as I am not surprised, he knocked it out of the ballpark again!! Highly recommended!
bobbyperrotti,
Exactly as advertised!
Would recommend this to anyone who is privacy conscious about sharing pics of their kids online. One request: can you make the sizing pinch-to-zoom gesture more obvious somehow? I got there but can imagine many people being stuck on how they would do that.

Overall great work!
skiiver,
So simple so functional so perfect
Does what it says on the tin and does it so well. Constantly finding new uses for it. Sometimes it’s really necessary. Sometimes it’s just an optional bit of modesty or anonymity that makes it easier to feel entirely ok sharing.
