J and K Prince,
Excellent
I have tried so many programs to lose weight and none have worked and all take so much of my time. This one takes all of the work out of it for you and includes shopping lists and daily menus. The food is not weird and overall tastes excellent! If you choose to track your food, provided you are following their menu, it is a simple click of a button. I haven’t been tracking but eat according to the menu and I’m down 12 lbs in one month. I’ve chosen the “Simple” option, as I’m very busy. I can’t attest for the other options.

One con, which hasn’t been a con for me but I imagine it will be for some, the “Simple” option rotates through a few breakfasts, lunches, and dinners for the week. There are repeats for each. The following week is all new foods. I think this is to maximize easiness and the food purchased (one meal calls for a rotisserie chicken, I’m obviously not going to eat the whole thing in one night). But if you don’t like having the same dinner 2 nights during the week, and maybe some leftovers for one of your lunches, then this might not be the program for you. I have found enough lunch foods that I enjoy, if I don’t want to eat leftovers (I don’t like leftovers) then I just make one of the other lunches from a previous week.
Matt from the mountains,
Really works!
I tried to lose weight for any number of years. I tried a number of popular weight loss programs and exercise programs. I had the same experience time and again. For the first few weeks, I would see some success. But the programs just weren’t sustainable for me. I’d lose interest and quit.

The Mayo diet is different. It’s not just a diet or a weight loss program or an exercise program. It’s all of the above. And it’s organized and delivered in a very simple and sustainable manner. It uses the immense resources of the Mayo health care experts and it puts that knowledge right into your hands. I can hardly imagine what it would cost to have this kind of information purchased individually.

That said, the Mayo diet is not magic. You still have to do the work. You have to follow the exercise plan and it takes some effort to follow the diet plan. The key is, you have to be motivated to want to lose the weight. If you are, I highly recommend this program. I’m 66 years old and if I can do it, so can you.
PIReneebrewer,
It’s been a long time
Maybe 20 years since followed a diet. I looked through each one of the diets and I chose the healthy keto because as I read through it it’s close to the way I already eat. Then the next thing is the recipes are outstanding. They do not require counting calories but I’m counting anyway. I barely hit 1200 cal and I’m full all day long. I don’t know who developed these recipes but bravo! I’m in my third week and I’m down 10 pounds. No headache very little detox symptoms the food is outstanding. I feel confident I can make it. I have faith in the mayo clinic because the hospital saved my daughters life. That’s why I decided to give their diet a try thank you. I feel better. My blood sugar is not all over the road. I can’t say enough about how wonderful the food is.
MontanaGal59860,
Excellent diet
I highly recommend this diet plan. It provides a tracking system that is easy to follow and delicious easy recipes that one can live with while losing weight relatively quickly. The added encouragement to be active was essential to my success in losing my goal weight in 3 months. I have continued to maintain the healthy eating and exercise habits and have lost additional weight.
I recommend this diet to lose weight and change your life for the better.
SgtGrumbles,
Needs work
This app could be excellent, but needs some quality of life improvements.

The meal planner suggests leftovers of dishes that were never added to the tracker.

Recipes are alright, but instructions can be frustratingly vague - even if you are used to home cooking.

Being able to filter recipes on time required to prepare would also be useful for busier days.

Scanning barcodes or searching for food items to add to your daily tracker sounds excellent in concept, but you will frequently catch incorrect classification of foods. I’ve had raw blackberries show up as veggies, tomato salsa show up as fat (when 0 fat is present), and onions show up as fat. There is no way to override an incorrect item. More importantly - there is no way to request a correction.

There is some level of integration with apple’s health tracking, but I’d like to see integration with services like nutritionix or myfitnesspal - this would greatly help with food log accuracy.

Water tracking is poor. You are given 8 water glass icons a day to tap on, all representing the same amount of water consumed. You should be able to enter occurrences of ounces / milliliters drank which contributes to goals throughout the day, similar to the meal planner being split into morning afternoon and evening.
ShellieWriter,
It’s Okay but not Great
Unlike a lot of other reviewers I haven’t had problems with the app glitching and I find it fairly easy to use. I track my habits, meals, and activities very easily. Im able to swap out meals and log my food.
My biggest complaints are the fact that the food pictured in the meals doesn’t match the actual prepared meals themselves and I really wish there was more variety in the meals and food used in each meal. I’ve been eating a lot of the same things over and over again, which isn’t going to be practical for long term sustainability.
kjj417,
Best overall program
I have tried many diet programs with mixed results. This mayo program is bar far the easiest and well rounded. Recipes are delicious, support and education are superior to any other program that I have tried. I absolutely love the Kay way of healthy living.
jgghhjjfdd,
Not very functional
The app is very glitchy. The only thing I like is that it does give you a meal plan and grocer list. The problem is the recipes in the website are different from the app. There is also get little flexibility in swapping off the meal plan and the recipes are not very good. Customer service is flow to respond. I tried to cancel 3 days after starting and no response. I emailed again and they said I could switch to a shorter plan but it was double the price monthly. I feel scammed. I do not recommend.
Dian_Idaho,
Fantastic
I’ve tried a LOT of diet plans and this is by far my favorite. Tons of recipes and the food tracker is the best and most intuitive I’ve found. The only negative is the price. At $40 a month it’s just not sustainable. On a positive note, after three months you have all the tools to continue on your own but I’d love to be able to continue to track my meals.
bigMoje,
Meal plan
The food is delicious but very time consuming. For a blue collar worker, the meal plan is not friendly for a break room that has a refrigerator and microwave for hot breakfasts out of the oven or fry pan. It seems that every recipe is a version of zucchini, tomatoes, either beans with little meat. That being said, I have had successful weight loss of 8 pounds in three weeks. So if you have the time to pretend cook ALL your meals in the evenings this plan may work for you.
