Description

MealCam is where you save pictures of everything that you eat, without focusing on calories.

Instead of obsessing over numbers, you can look more holistically at what you eat and measure things like:

-How many colors did I eat?
-How many ingredients did I eat that had water in them? (i.e. fruit/veg vs processed food)
-How much time did I give my body to digest before I ate again?

While it may seem simple. When you use it consistently it becomes immensely powerful.

It may be the catalyst to a skinnier, healthier you because of the insights you gain...

...or simply because of the improved accountability you gain by simply taking a picture of every meal! (You might ask yourself, "should I really be eating this?" as you reach for MealCam)

...it could also uncover a food allergy you never knew you had but was responsible for your bloating and discomfort.

---

Focusing on calorie counting can often be misleading because to meet a goal you may eat processed food that has an artificially-engineered low/no calorie number...

...when what your body really wanted was a hydrating piece of fresh fruit!

(Colorful fresh produce isn't usually sold with nutrition labels... and yet isn't it the healthiest food for us?)

So by focusing instead on things like colors and water content you'll get a more holistic view of what you eat.

...and it's easier! (It only takes seconds to take a picture of a meal)

---

With photos of your meals you'll have a broader perspective of what you eat where you can observe patterns you would otherwise be unaware of.

You can ask questions that get to the root of problems:

- What made my digestion like this?
- Why am I bloated?
- Did I eat something yesterday that caused me to break out?
- Why did I gain weight this month?
- What was I eating to lose weight?

MealCam allows you to recall what you were eating days, weeks, or months ago. (Unlike our memory which often can only recall the past few meals)

...and the very act of taking a picture of every meal makes you more conscious of what you eat.

You can also create a 1 day or 7 day summary of your meals to share with your doctor, personal trainer, or nutrition coach.

---

MealCam uses of all the greatest new features in iOS:

-It uses iCloud to privately sync your meals between devices.
-It supports dark mode.
-It has a useful Widget.
-It supports multitasking on iPad and works in all orientations.

~Private iCloud Syncing~

Meals can be stored in your private iCloud database where they sync with all your devices. Since MealCam uses iCloud's private database, I as the developer do not have access to them. They're for your eyes only.

You also have the choice to store them locally on your device without syncing.

~Dark Mode~

Review your meals without straining your eyes at night!

When you turn on the system's Dark Mode MealCam will conform.

~Widget~

A common thing you may ask yourself is: what time was my last meal? (Especially if you eat on scheduled intervals)

The widget is the perfect place to quickly answer this question. It shows a picture of each meal you've eaten today with the time overlaid on top.

You can quickly reference what time your last meal was without opening the app and decide if you're ready to eat again.

~Multitasking~

MealCam works in all sizes and orientations so you can use it for multitasking on the iPad.

You can use MealCam side by side with other apps. For example, when you are looking for recipes online you can use MealCam to see what you've eaten the past couple nights.

It also works in landscape on your iPhone so the app feels like it belongs with the stock apps which are some of the few apps that support landscape mode.

---

I hope you enjoy MealCam as much as I do!

Anon2479123,
How great is this!?
I just started using this app yesterday and already love it! I’ve tried so many times to keep track of what I eat everyday, only to get bogged down by the tediousness of figuring out and entering every bit of food. I think this app is the solution. It provides an easy, fun and sustainable way to keep track of what I consume each day. I really like how how the photos “drop” into the screen and bounce around as I move my phone, such a simple thing, but makes it a delight to use. And this app will provide an easy way to give me a daily snapshot view of what I have been eating/drinks that I can scroll back through. I really like the ability to view a day summary with timestamps as well.

Only suggestion I have is that it would be nice to see my notes in the daily snapshot. Or is that already possible?

Was a little surprised that I had to purchase the app to see past meals, but did not hesitate... SO worth it.
GeeRott,
Better than similar apps.
I was using a different “photo food diary” app and switched to this app instead . To me this one was way better because it was 10x more fun, interesting and kind of feels “subliminally motivating” while still being just as simple, plain and easy as the other. This app’s circle-shaped photos feel fun and they kind of creatively inspire you to want to take a picture of nice healthy foods which I didn’t get so much with the other square photos app. It’s fun to take pics of round fruits like apples and oranges. The way the picture “bubbles” of the the things you ate react and float around the page of the day when you move your phone makes it like you’re looking at the contents of your stomach and motivates you to pick healthy choices.

I bought this to help me keep track of my food intake. I looks like it’s going to work great. ( as long as you use it. )
Who doesn’t have their phone on them anyway.
Plus I love taking pics of the food I make. This will help me locate those pics and not bog down my stored photos.
I purchased the paid version. My only question is was that a one time payment or is it per month or per year?

Ive just been using this app for a couple of days and have been very pleased with the process of tracking my meal in a simple and effective way. Its helped me to realize what im putting in my stomach.

the little bubbles bouncing around is a very fun touch and make it seem like a visualization of my stomach contents. Lol. I only wish there were a button to lock the bubbles so they don't fly around as try to make sense of the pictures.
shelbosaurus,
Love!
I love this app. I was using another meal picture app, but I like the fun layout of this one. Perfect for increasing accountability and tracking eating habits without having to track calories. I love being able to see all the pictures on one screen. My only suggestion is maybe adding some background options to make the aesthetic even better, and I would really love the option of a reminder to take pictures. That's the only thing my other app has that this one doesn't.
Elsa the conquerer,
Useful and relatively simple little app
I have enjoyed using it and I think charging to see previous days is fair, but I think it’s a bit much for what it is at the moment. I wish there was an option for square non-moving photos like a gallery and if that was there I think this app would be even better.
Leifox27,
Omg brilliant!! Simple and fun!!
I wanted something SIMPLE to track what I eat. This is definitely it!! The layout is great. So much fun! Lol Thank you! I’m tired of obsessing over numbers - I mean really a lot of us know what is healthy and what isn’t! Especially if you been tracking your foods for awhile now. Just like the developer said, “what colors have I eaten? Am I getting enough water? Etc... Love it!
veggiesaur,
Simple and fun
This is exactly what I was looking for - a quick and easy way to keep a photo food journal without the distraction of social media. This app is easy to use and isn’t weighted down with extra features I don’t need. It’s not trying to sell me diet programs or assuming I am interested in losing weight. Best of all, I love the playful aesthetic of this app.
IMOs the besssst yo,
Cute and useful! Wish I could see text in photos
I love the aesthetics. I used other photo journal apps and this is simple and effective at being able to review my daily food intake.

One thing I do wish—
When I add notes to a food pic, I wish I could see the text OVER the photo when I go back to the main page with all the photos.

For example, I might add like “1 cup” as a note to a cup of juice. When I finish the note and go back to see the main page where all the photos are, I want to see “1 cup” across that photo of the juice.
Musclebug,
Not worth the price.
The camera does not zoom in or out making you take pictures from around four feet from the plate. If you want to see more than one day you have to pay ($3.99). Pictures are saved either on the phone or the web you can’t go between the two. Don’t like how the pictures move then get out of order, making you go to a another screen to see the oder in which you took them. That screen has the pictures very tiny as well.
