Description

melod is a classic music/rhythm game that lets you play great songs by a wide variety of indie artists—discover new music and chase high scores!

There are two types of instrumentals to play: "Melody" and "Rhythm"! Be warned: "Rhythm" mode adds a fifth "bass pedal" note that drastically increases the level of difficulty. Charts reflect the notes of the song, and your part drops if you miss notes. Explore the inner machinations of the music in the game!

You can play the game on "Chill" or on "Challenge" mode. "Chill" gives an easier, relaxing experience, while "challenge" gives the full experience, pushing your music-gaming skills as far as they can go.

Along with the free experience, you can also purchase a "melodx" subscription, which gives you access to a selection of playable songs that will develop over time. Other songs can be purchased individually.

As has been requested by many players, "melodx" can now be bought once to have forever—aptly named "melodx forever". Users will no longer be required to pay a monthly fee for access to melodx features, including style options and bonus songs. Users with a current melodx subscription will be able to continue accessing melodx content until their subscription expires.

New songs and style options have been added to "melodx" as well.

Additionally, various UI and under-the-hood improvements have been made to make the gameplay better and menu navigation easier.

What an amazing month it has been. melod has seen a huge influx of downloads. Because of this, I will be able to increase ongoing production on the game. If you have suggestions for the game, please email me or leave a review so I can prioritize what the users want the most.

This update brings 3 new songs to the store: "Memory" by Kotlovan; "Astral Plane" by Locked Roulette; and "BeatChaser", a melodx-exclusive song. All three songs will be available for melodx members.

Additionally, changes were made to "Albion" which corrected a few duplicate notes on the "chill" melody chart. Users may have noticed correctly-hit notes in this song appearing as missed due to this error.

Lastly, some menu changes were made which help the user to know when knew songs have been added to the store.

Other small fixes have been addressed in this update, including:

Tv Man the Dude Derp,
Challenging, but in a good way
This is one of my favorite games on my phone. Some of the music is very good, I wish I could find it elsewhere! I like the idea of having no ads, I wish other games did that too. I also like how this is promoting smaller music artists and their songs. Don’t get me wrong, at some parts the game is challenging! But that is needed or else it could possibly get too boring. I like the way this game handles in-app purchases— you can pay a subscription for 2 dollars a month to get themes which can change the way your game feels, or you can purchase a few songs that add extra to the game! I have one suggestion though, maybe you could add the option to buy a single theme each for a dollar or two? I would buy the subscription, but I don’t like having constant payments being due. If I could just pay some money all at once to access all of them or pay smaller fees for individual themes that would be great. Other than that, melod is a great game I really recommend getting!
oddfishes,
Lovely game, some rules can be confusing
First off, love this game. I love the songs and the fact that a lot of the music is from indie artists, really awesome. I think this is my favourite rhythm game that I’ve ever played, I’m very happy that I am able to calibrate it to work for me, and the design is sleek and pleasant to look at.

There is one small thing that prevents me from calling the game perfect, and perhaps it’s a matter of preference, but I find that the slide notes are slightly visually confusing. I am often unsure what regular notes I can swipe into the slide-notes, and whether I can swipe from a slide-note into a regular note. I think if there was a different visual cue, a trail or stripe connecting notes that can be swiped, it would add a nice level of cohesion for people like me who need slightly more visual variety to differentiate mechanics in a game like this.

Again, it’s a small thing and it doesn’t ruin the game at all!
WALKERBAITo3,
Fun for anyone
MeloD is such a fun game. I’m excited to see future songs. I feel the selection is small so far, however they range in difficulty is pretty accurate! I would love to see some new songs added. I especially love that some heavier music was added. This game is great for people of all ages, if they can keep up haha!

Features I would like to see: new songs, less sensitive notes or adjustments to the calibration, memberships at a set price instead of monthly, and a feature that can allow to you slow down a section so you can practice it as much as you need.

Features that I love: user friendly interface, clear and accurate ratings for song difficulty, clear that the notes are playing to the song (and at the right time), interesting and unique genres, and the ability to change the difficulty in settings.

I haven’t tried out the memebership yet but I love that you can change the theme of the notes. I downloaded some of the free songs to help me unlock enough stars to get the most difficult songs. Although some of the songs don’t relate to me or what I enjoy, I felt the selection was interesting and introduced me to some new genres of music that I do actually like.
Deqrx,
Not horrible.
Overall, this game is splendid! I particularly acknowledge and appreciate how it has no ads and supports indie artists. My biggest complaint, and in my opinion this app's greatest drawback, is the song choice. Of course, I understand that it is not possible to put most mainstream and popular songs due to legal and copyright reasons, but the immediate song choice just felt underwhelming, aggressive, and like there wasn't even a proper melody to follow! Coming from a consumer I obviously cannot know how the songs were chosen, but I just wish the starting songs were less aggressive and jumpy and instead were more chill and had a melody that was easy to follow. I personally think that many of the songs that were given should have been switched out with other songs. On top of that, it was a bit annoying to be able to press the notes, they were just too small and went by too quickly! Great concept for a game, just a bit iffy execution.
Spaztastic7,
Incredible
The developer is very generous for making this game enjoyably free to play as well as ad-free, people complaining about “false advertisement” for it including in-app purchases likely do not understand how app production works. They put lots of work and time into this game and still need to profit off of it. The scale at which they’re doing so is very small compared to big game developers, so there is absolutely no room for complaints regarding how they choose to profit off of it. Incredible game otherwise, I love rhythm games so having one that’s very much playable without needing to watch ads or pay money is delightful. Also love the idea of sharing
haynayj,
Only one issue
Love the game! It’s well made and I love that it’s supporting indie artists, I also really appreciate that you’ve taken it upon yourself not to include advertisements. I just have a bit of an issue with how the “stars” are distributed. Within the first three basic levels it was obvious there was almost no chance to get three stars unless you hit absolutely every note, and with them being the easiest out of the levels I find this a bit disappointing. I understand that you can’t just give out perfect scores lol candy but a 98% accuracy with only two beats missed doesn’t get 3 stars? It just seems a bit imbalanced. Other than that, which really isn’t as big of a deal as I may be making it seem, I love the game so far and am hoping to see more :)
($$--$$),
Yes sir
When I first saw on TikTok that this game had no ads I immediately went to the app store and downloaded this game. I really hate that rhythm games has a bunch of ads and it just gets annoying. But anyways this app is really cool I haven’t played much but it already got me hooked. The intro seemed professional and the gameplay is really smooth. The only tiny problem is that when I miss some notes I will like if there was like a noise if you get it wrong or you missed it then it will play like a bleep noise or something like that. But anyways this game is cool and I recommend
Vanessad6379,
Almost 5 stars!! One suggestion
This game is great, and I love some of the features it implements like the haptic feedback and unique songs. However I have one suggestion, I think the buttons that you press to hit the notes should be bigger. I always find myself missing notes just because i tap slightly above or below the button, and it’s difficult to focus on making sure my thumbs are directly over the buttons while also focusing on the song and where the notes are. If there’s any possibility to increase the size of the button, or the hit box to be more lenient, that would be amazing!! Great game though :))
Happyperson9361982,
love concept but has bugs/ issues
rating 5 stars because i came from tik tok and want y’all to succeed and get more downloads! love the concept so far, I’ve only played a few songs and I’m on the challenging difficulty but i think the buttons should be bigger, either I’m really bad at this game (i love rhythm games) or I’m having trouble getting the buttons to recognize I’m pressing them, they’re a bit small and i think users would benefit from more touch sensitivity and a bigger button so it’s not as easy to miss and it’s more on timing to actually miss a note
LextheLuther,
This game slaps!
The music is brilliant and only gets better the better you are at playing. Usually games like this are difficult for me and I get frustrated, but this one lets me go at my own pace and draws me in with the wonderful array of music from independent artists. I’m encouraged to practice a song until I get better so I can enjoy each song the way it’s meant to be heard and boy is it worth it! An addicting game, incredible music, will be playing for a long time!
