Description
The Audio tour of select pieces fromMossRehab’s extensive art collection was designed to introduce you to individuals who have a lot to teach us about art as well as about facing challenges, pushing boundaries, and continuing to grow. In the late 1970’s, MossRehab presented “All About Art”, their first international exhibition of works created by professional artists with disabilities, and the first of its kind in the eastern United States. The hope for the exhibition then and today is to heighten awareness of the many talents and abilities of people who have physical limitations.
MossRehab’sSusan S. Beneman Permanent Collection, on display year-round at the Elkins Park Campus features more than 420 works of art including watercolors, oil paintings, sculptures, collages, photographs, prints, pottery, and other mediums. Some of the artists representedwere artists before experiencing disability and had to find new ways to continue their art; others found they had artistic talents only after losing other physical abilities. The quality of the work created by these artists who have refused to let life’schallenges silence their creative voices is impressive. We know you will see the world differently after you come to know their art.
