VampyreCat,
Better than nothing?
Especially since everything was forcibly moved to the app I had hoped things would start working. But since downloading this I have never had access to messaging or just about any of the other features of this app. My child had been sick and now I’ve come down with something and I wanted to schedule a telecom appointment for myself and send a message to my pediatrician about some of my concerns but I’ve been forced to call the hospital and sit in wait times just to be told I can’t come in due influx in RSV cases and that if I can treat at home it’s better. Especially if he has a possibility of having COVID. The previous health provider I had I did everything through the app. I liked that convenience and I had hoped to have the same here but have yet to have that. Bought all I can do on this app is see my billing balance
burgrafix,
Beware - Communication Breakdowns and Confusion Guaranteed
The app is supposed to help with communication between a doctor’s office and patient, instead it creates an even bigger bureaucratic bottle neck than is already taking place at Northwestern Fertility Clinic. My experience has been that I have several extra steps each time I need to connect with the office: logging in each time (no ability for facial recognition), having a limited amount of sender options (I can’t email a nurse directly, only my doctor but they never respond directly), unresponsiveness (sometimes I have to wait days for an urgent question to be answered) and runaround from the office (when I call the office they tell me to send a MyChart message) and when I send a MYChart message I see that someone has read it but not responded.

The app does have some good UI elements: easy to find the message, billing and results sections. The bones are there for it be a great app with a little consideration for the patient experience. I don’t have insight into what the doctors and nurses see on their end, but it seems like there could be some better designs in place to help connect the two sides. Get a UX expert, it’ll be well worth it and save a lot of time, frustration and patient retention.

Can’t book appointments with doctors
They have the most convoluted process of trying to book an appointment with a doctor which, aside from a few tiny edge cases, always results in being denied an appointment. When you are denied you’re told to call the office but give no phone number on that screen to call. When you do find a phone number in the app you can’t tap it to dial it nor can you copy it out to paste into the phone app. I had to take a screenshot of the phone number and type it in manually to dial.

They have a doctor finder which is great, but you can never book anything with a doctor you found. From a doctor’s page in the app, tapping “Request an Appointment” dumps you out to Their generic request web form in Safari. No query parameters are in the url, nothing about the doctor you spent all that time trying to find is passed into that webpage. This web page then prompts you for all the info you’ve already entered into the NM app, wasting everyone’s time, only to be told you’ll be contacted in 2 days.

This app is nothing more than a gatekeeper preventing people from getting the care they need.
daveK:Scientist,
Sufficient
It’s far better than nothing. It’s probably limited most by MyChart, at best a clunky interface even on a desktop. However, iPhone app is most annoying for the poor integration with FaceID, as it only opens your collection of KeyChain passwords, instead of automatically loading the password. Then once selected from the long list manually, the password often loads very slowly, often causing me to think the app is stalled. Another annoyance is that the red alert icons don’t reset after reviewing a category. For example, currently the app suggests 3 billing issues as shown by the little, red circle, yet review shows all visits paid and account balance of $0.00. Similarly, I have persisting red indicators that haven’t reset in Tests and other categories, despite my full review of each category. Otherwise works okay and allows easy Rx refills.
Cjsgramma,
So hard to find anything
Also I answer all the questions on the app before my appointment..then I get to my appointment and the exact same questions are asked about my meds. What’s the point of this?

I can’t find the paper work from my last appointment , I don’t get it! Where do I look for this. I click on everything and it’s not there.

I remove old meds that I no longer take on the my chart, then again. I get to the doctors office, the nurse asks the same questions I told her that I removed the meds and of course she doesn’t know why they are still showing up…and she tells me that she can’t remove them either. I’ve checked my chart and the are still there. Very poor system.

Your system has a lot to be desired. Also the doctors and the nurses don’t know what the patients see on my chart, how about having a training on This for the medical personal so when I mention something on my chart they know what I’m taking about. My doctor told me he doesn’t know anything about the mychart.

My doctor sent me the name of a specialist that I should see…I never received this I formation either in My chart or as a email. So I didn’t know about this until my next appointment 6 weeks later. And I had already see a pain specialist that I choice, and not one that was recommended. By my doctor.
Again what’s wrong with your system????
Iklhabar,
They should accept feedback!
This app has some nice features and it provides a convenient place for communications, test results, and appointments. But there are some real annoyances. They seem to only expect you to contact them via phone; no email option. No way to give feedback on the app itself. Let me give you suggestions if you want to improve! I tried to find a physician via the app but it ended up not really being supported, and it seemed like nobody ever tested the scenario. You can’t forward messages: I don’t manage my communications in your app, even if you think I should. No way to export test results. Again give me access to my own information rather than locking it in your limited app. You’re not the world: try to be play with others. And support email!
firedestroyer12,
Immediate care keeps crashing the app
Northwestern Medicine has converted immediate cares into Primary Care health 2.0. Now you need to make a reservation when you throw your back out to try and beat the people going in for blood work. Totally defeats the idea of “immediate” care but oh well. The app constantly crashes when you try and make a reservation for an immediate care. Also crashes half the time when trying to click on the location. It’s almost as if they are trying for force you to pay more money to go to an emergency room to get medicine. Funny how things come full circle. Urgent cares were made to help with overcrowded waiting rooms in the emergency room and now things are so complicated for immediate cares that it’s just easier to go to an emergency room. Maybe Northwestern Medicine has become too big for its own good.
LightMyPath,
Not well organized and buggy
It’s not that well organized and hard to find information. There’s a top-level category called “My Health” but isn’t the whole app about my health? No clue what’s in there until you go into it and look all around. Looking for test results or doctors’ notes, some you can get through My Health, some through appointments, some through Messaging, some through Covid Resource Center, so you pretty much have to go through everything in order to find what you are looking for.

There used to be a very convenient feature to graph your test results over the years so you can visually see how things are changing and check into those changes in greater detail. That seems to be gone now, unfortunately.

Getting lots of errors in the app now, such as “
Server Error in '/MyChart' Application.

Runtime Error

Description: An exception occurred while processing your request. Additionally, another exception occurred while executing the custom error page for the first exception. The request has been terminated. “
SosaJane,
Can’t do some important functions
I have diabetes. My doctor requests that I send my readings to his office, but I can only attach an image or a video to a message to my doctor. My meter is connected to my phone and creates a PDF file to forward to my doctor and I thought I had done this in the past through this app,but I can no longer attach a PDF file to a message to my doctor.

Even more problematic is in the billing area. I participate in a Flex Spending Program through my employer. When I submit claims, they require documentation which is submitted to them in the form of a PDF file or a picture of the bill. I am unable to upload the invoice with the necessary details and thus cannot get reimbursed for these expenses. It would be so nice to print the statement and take a picture or upload a PDF file that I could forward to my benefits manager.
Rosie 007,
Lab results not posting in a timely manner
Very disappointed these past couple of weeks. I’ve spoken to a lot of nurses who also have said their patients are having trouble with Labs and Test Results not posting. You used to release and post the results right away, now it’s been almost 8 days where I still cannot see all my results. Very frustrating. Dupage Medical Group posts them the very next day when available. I called MyChart help desk but they blame it on the doctors not releasing the results but this isn’t accurate. My doctors tell me the results right away and it’s my right to be able to see my results in MyChart in a timely fashion. Many people are complaining. Not sure what is going on these past two weeks but so frustrated. Please fix this issue.
