BRISK WALKING BENEFITS YOUR HEALTH

We all know how important it is to be active. The good news is you don’t have to go to the gym or start expensive fitness programmes, walking briskly counts too!

Just ten minutes of brisk walking every day can get your heart pumping and can make you feel more energetic, as well as lowering your risk of serious illnesses like heart disease and type 2 diabetes. Going for a brisk walk is a great way to clear your head and improve your mood.

Active 10's are simple to fit into your day, from taking the dog out to going for a lunchtime walk there are lot of opportunities to include brisk walking into your daily routine.

This app relies on your phone’s inbuilt sensors to measure your activity so you may experience varying levels of accuracy especially in older devices/operating systems. To improve accuracy, we recommend keeping your phone in a pocket close to your body rather than in a loose coat pocket or bag.

If you have any feedback on how we can improve the app please send it to [email protected]

RazorBob45,
Works just fine for me
This is a great little house and well-designed. Simple to use and very flexible. You can change your goal to 6 minutes, 8 minutes or whatever suits you. I think this is a wonderful way to get some exercise and have it be Fun! just IGNORE the negative reviews where people couldn't set it up, they should ask for help instead of whining here!
Anton Rang,
Like the concept
I think this is a good way to motivate yourself to be more active. However, the app is a bit slow to load, and the notifications could be improved. (Prompting me to open the app to check my status is not as good as actually telling me what my status might be, and a widget would be helpful too.)

The app seems to be hard on the battery; while I’ve only had it open a couple of minutes in the past day, it’s 10% of battery drain. Presumably it’s running frequently in the background. Is that really necessary or could the M processor’s step collection data, or Apple Watch input, suffice?
Magnetvalley.com,
So close!
My goal is ten minutes of walking briskly without stopping a day. In a few more weeks, I plan to up that to twice a day. If my goal is 10 minutes of consecutive brisk walking, and the app shows 11, 12, even 13 consecutive minutes of brisk walking, I would expect that to show my ‘Active 10’ for the day complete. But it doesn’t always do that and that is frustrating for someone that wants to visually see that goal achieved (or I wouldn’t use the app at all). I am hoping this is fixed soon so I can go back to recommending this app to others.
walker enthusiast 007,
It doesn’t give you options of using location tracking only when using the app.
Was interested in trying out the app. Excited that it has a different approach than just counting the steps.

Unfortunately, the settings requires you to switch on “access the location” all the time. I tried choosing “only when the app is being used” but it doesn’t work.

I would like the app to track my location only if I’m using it. Not 24/7 or 365 days. Give users the freedom to choose when and where to use the app.
vgoel9,
Does not capture bicycle rides or intensity of a walk.
I have used this app for a couple of years and generally like it for capturing my outdoor walks when I have my phone in my pocket. It doesn't capture data from Apple Watch or Apple Health.
I often go for a 9 mile bicycle ride. The bicycle ride is not captured by this app. I am curious as to what constitutes "briskness". I wish the app would measure intensity of a walk, not just its duration.
Thamus01,
Erratic and neurotic
It’s really annoying when after a 5-day steak the app simply fails to record an entire day and shows zero activity. This happens erratically. I’ve just walked Sun, Mon, Tue, the same route, and it’s showing zero for Sunday. The week activity log also inexplicably switches direction, one time showing the latest days on the left, other times on the right. The app opening is clunky - it should open straight to current status, not to useless screens with “continue”. Buggy and iffy all round. There are better apps.
BRBun,
Excellent incentive
It’s hard to explain why achieving 3 brisk 10s is so motivating, but it is. There are days where I am really tired, but I will drag myself out to get those last few brisk minutes in order to have my daily quota of 30 brisk minutes of walking!
your mama's nickname,
Timer is unreliable
The motion sensor stops all the time even if you’re constantly moving at a brisk pace. I’ve timed it against my iPhone timer to make sure. Sometimes it takes several minutes to count 1 minute on the app. This is particularly frustrating when the app counts in increments of 10 minutes and won’t count all the extra time you’ve spent walking. I am a fast walker so no one could say my pace isn’t brisk.
Jo B in nyc,
Great App
I like it too! I wish though it recorded all your brisk walking weekly log chart. It seems to top out at 40 mins total even though I have days when I total more than 40 mins and it shows the longer total in the daily chart.
Rmanltd,
Not accurate
And it must have been written by neophytes. The concept is good (counting active steps), but the execution almost couldn't be worse.

Specific problems:
* Low goal threshold. Only a max of three sets of active sets are allowed. And only 40 minutes of active steps per day.
* Data retrieval delays; it takes up to a minute for the program to refresh. Even then -
* Data retrieval errors; sometimes it takes hours for the steps to appear. This, of course, brings up the question of accuracy again.
* More data retrieval errors. Sometimes, no active sets are recognized and the program patronizingly suggests reducing your goal. Then, oops, just kidding - sets are back.

All of this brought to you by the fine folks at your National Health Service.
