Description

Notes teacher helps you learn to read music or to improve your sheet music reading.

The "Learn" mode is composed of 32 lessons which will teach you to read music notes step-by-step. You will start with two notes. As you progress, each exercise will give you a few more notes. When you complete the lessons you will be able to read all the music notes.

The "Practice" mode allows you to specify which clef (bass or treble) you want to practice, or you can practice them both at once. You will be able to choose specific groups of notes to practice. "Practice" mode will help improve your speed and accuracy making it easier for you to read music.

As you use the app statistics accumulate, allowing it to detect and target your weaknesses. The app will customize your exercises to help you work specifically on the notes that you find more difficult.

yonezuu,
The best way to teach yourself piano notes
I’m currently teaching myself to play the piano. I have no musical past. I was convinced I could never read sheet music. I highly recoment the full version of this app. With the lessons and a bit of practice both on the app and with my intrument I’ve been blown away with the progress I’ve made. It’s only been about two weeks and I can easily decipher most of the notes on the trebble cleff!! Though it’s not going to teach you pacing (at least it hasnt for me at lesson 15) and you’ll need to study up a bit on that online if you’re in the “teaching yourself an instrument” boat like i am. The one and only “issue” (if you can call it even that) I’ve had is that there is no in-app way to apply the skills I’ve learned. I’d love to have a simple tune infront of me and, just like in practice mode, play it and it correct me if I get it wrong. So basically if it’s possible- an option to play a tune and apply what i’ve learned would be amazing! This app is 100% worth the money- it’s just unbelievable how affordable it is for how much you can get out of it!! I saw a lot of improvement in myself with practicing a bit every day! having an app like this makes it so easy to practice a bit on the bus ride home or whenever i find myself bored with social media. to add to that, an option to play music would make the app much much more fun! its almost like a game!
dw715,
Much better than mnemonics
If you are having a hard time learning notes or simply want an effective way to learn them, you should absolutely get this app. I’ve only been using it an hour and my note identification has already improved leaps and bounds. I’m an adult beginner learning to play piano. I’d been relying on mnemonics to learn the grand staff. But no matter how much I worked on note identification exercises, my note recognition was not improving. I realized the mnemonics were hindering me. Having to state the whole mnemonic, then applying the correct word to the correct note, then finding the note on the staff is not effective. This is a cumbersome and frustrating way for me to learn, and I was beginning to feel hopeless. I’m also using a Faber adult beginners book and love the way it progresses by gradually introducing new notes. So I searched the web for other music note apps that would teach more in that way and found Notes Teacher.

This app is great! I love that one new note is introduced at a time, and I can repeat each lesson as many times as I want. I’m already feeling more confident after just an hour and believe I will soon be able to progress in my piano lessons. To the developer, thank you so much for making this app and helping learners like me.
SerenitysoulCR,
Great app, thank you so much!
I have tried several different apps to learn music notes because I bought a violin and I’m determined to learn how to play it. The only problem is.... I can’t read music. I know, that’s a big problem. Most apps do color coordinated things are you learn more to rely on the colors than the actual letters or “notes.” With this app, it teaches one note at a time, gives a lesson, and let’s you repeat that quick lesson as many times as you need to until you feel comfortable moving to the next note. I’m in my 40’s so sometimes I have to repeat it a few times to get it to stick it my old brain, lol. But this is by far the fastest way I have found for me personally to learn fast and retain the knowledge. Also, I just wanted to say Thank you to whoever made this app because they obviously made it due to their love of music and wanting to help others. It is free and I have not had ANY ADS! That is amazing! I am absolutely IN LOVE with this app and will continue to use it until I learn everything I can possibly learn. There are not many people out there who will make apps just to help people, that are completely free & absolutely no ads. So to my hero, Thank You!!
ivy dlut do ides,
Best app ever!
I love this app! I thought you had to have a piano for it, and I was like, … well I better check anyway! And it can use a piano but you don’t need to have one! I looked for SO long for a piano app that you can learn without a real piano! If you want to learn to read notes, THIS IS THE APP! Best app ever thank you so much for making it! Also I have a recommendation. In the really or super- (I forgot) easy can you make the timer last a bit longer, just on the easy. I know since it’s easy you shouldn’t need a lot of time, but some people need easy because they are having difficulty, and the timer should be longer, and I was going to say if you could hide the timer since it puts a lot of pressure, but I found in the settings you can hide the timer. So THIS IS THE BEST APP EVERRE! Get it now! And thx for your time to read this. Byeeeee! ☻♡シ𓄁𓆉𓃟𓃠𓆏
DrueGray,
Excellent concept.
Uses a format similar to angry birds and cut the rope in that it has multiple levels and each level reward you with a clearance of one two or three stars. You can go back and replay each level to try and better your score. It has difficulty levels ranging from very easy to very hard. It allows you to select trouble clef or bass clef or both. And many other features. My favorite feature is that it allows you to use the microphone on your device to play the notes on your piano or just about any other instrument that as well tuned. The accuracy when playing a live instrument through the microphone is pretty darn good. If you play too fast, it won’t recognize occasionally and makes an error, which kind of stinks because one aspect is that the challenge level is timed. So you are encouraged to go as fast as you can, but the app can only allow you to go so fast. Would be great if they could continue to fine-tune the accuracy for speed
Fiya Bwoy,
Great Tool for a Beginning Sight Reader
I’m currently learning to sight read with no formal training or lessons. I found that this application is not only very helpful at learning the notes on the various clefs, but also challenges you through game lessons to recall the notes your learning. You’re tested in a fun and enjoyable way. It’s easy to look up the notes online or in a book, however, unless you dedicate yourself to studying them, then it’s easy to not put in the time required to really learn them. The app starts off at the very beginning with just 2 notes. Once you’ve completed the lesson, you’ll unlock a new lesson that adds a new note. I’ve purchased the full version since I feel that this app can really help learn to sight read notes. The full version unlocks higher difficulties which can really test your skills.
The boggled,
Doesn’t work with my piano
I like the app and I just may bust out of Every Good Boy Does Fine. But when I try to set it up with my Yamaha P125 piano, it doesn’t work. I’ve paid the $1.99, restarted the app etc. but can make it work. hopefully the developer can explain.

- There are no instructions on how to set it up with a piano. I’ve been trying “Transposition” in settings. Is that it? Kind of hard to tell. There should be a wizard that walks you through it. Needs a better UI and a better name than “Transposition”. Kind of obscure

- In “Transposition”, I do play the correct notes in the different octaves words but the app gives no feedback that it has read the note correctly. You have no idea if it’s right. Again, poor UI.

- Finally, when I try “Test your instrument to input notes”, none of them are correct. So, i’m doing it wrong somehow. I know i’m playing the right notes in the right octave on my P125.

I also have no idea what I would do next if I did make my piano work. Would I be able to do lessons with my piano instead of buttons? there’s no indication that you can.

- So, i’m missing something. Hope the developer can explain the process to me. Suggest the developer really works on this feature to make it simple, clear and easy. It is the crucial feature of the app - to integrate a piano - but very unclear how to do it.
Seakitty337,
Thank you so much!
I’ve been struggling in band all year, and it’s just because of sheet music. I finally decided I was gonna try something to help. I found this app and gave it a shot. I loved the simplicity, and it’s not too overwhelming. I’ve only been using this app two days, but I’ve significantly improved. I would totally recommend Notes teacher to anyone, even non musicians. I’ve only seen two things so far that would make the experience better.
• a way to type in your note goals
• some songs! I know that is difficult, I totally understand. But maybe just some Christmas songs, or nursery rhymes? Like silent night or Mary had a little lamb? It doesn’t have to be anything fancy.
Anyways, these are a few things I think we would all like! Thanks for sticking with me! Bye!
Ed in Katy,
A little disappointed
The note recognition doesn’t work very well when I’m using the microphone. I would like to use the app with my Yamaha P45 electric piano. The app doesn’t seem to like the D note very well at all. I really have to pound the keys to get it to recognize any notes. I don’t know if I’m doing something wrong with the app or the app just doesn’t use the microphone very well. It would be very beneficial to be able to use the piano keyboard instead of the buttons in the app. It seems like I have a very quiet background where I’m using the app with the piano without any background ambient noise. Hopefully some improvement will be coming and in the meantime I’ll continue using the buttons instead. I’m using the premium version of the app that I paid the $1.99 for. The amount of money isn’t such a big deal but since I paid for the feature I would like it to work.
Cblan3608,
Great app!
I have just begun to use this app to learn the names of notes. I like the approach as it goes through adding a note at a time with audio feedback for the note sounds as well. The only thing I would suggest to add to the app is the ability to start slow when a note is first introduced and increase speed as the learner becomes more successful with the note that is added. One other thing I specifically do like too is how the addition of each note alternates between treble and clef allowing your learning to be more global not specific to the line. I am learning to play the harp and this is important to the harp player. Great app with a lot of evident positive development an thought into it.
