sewaneeanne,
It’s liberating
I have only had the OmniPod for five weeks so I am not familiar with everything it can do for me. For instance, I haven’t yet learned how to set a temp basal or suspend insulin delivery. But I do know that it has been wonderful to be free of giving myself injections. I love being out to dinner with friends and not having to excuse myself to deliver my insulin. The targeted amount I get helps with keeping my blood sugar steady. Pairing it with a Dexcom CGM really makes it easy to keep track of numbers.

I have found that some places I attach the pod are a little uncomfortable-not bad, but noticeable. That will take time, I guess. It’s a small price to pay for the freedom I have now.

Finally, for me it is less expensive than paying for two types of insulin. I am on Medicare with a supplemental plan. I will stick with OmniPod.

Good first release, has limited functionality.
It is nice to see your Omnipod Dash info on your iPhone. However, you still have to physically connect your Dash to a computer to view any data in 3rd party apps such as Glooko and others. It doesn’t even have Apple Health integration. The data is on the iPhone, why do I need to connect to a computer to upload it. It would be nice to be able to upload the date to the Cloud, Glooko, Apple Health, or other supported apps.

It would really be nice to be able to bolus and change settings on the Dash via using this app. It currently will not allow that, and you can only view the data. If you using the Dexcom G6, you have to open you IPhone to get your CGM reading and then open the Dash to give a bolus or change a settings. It would be nice to only have to open one device to do your multiple daily diabetes tasks.
Briannaelise,
Great for now, looking forward for what’s to come
This app definitely has potential. I know all of the testing isn’t done to control the insulin administration from the phone app, but I’m looking forward to when it does. For now though it would be beneficial if I could at least enter my BG reading just for tracking sake. I can log it on the pdm without giving a dose, just as a log. I think you should be able to on the app too. Or log exercise, or food, etc. Otherwise, it’s clean, attractive, user friendly, and works well. Love that I can Ping my PDM, wish I could do that from my watch too
GodKingRaidriar,
Not syncing with PDM
Ok so I’ve had the dash since mid 2020 and ad first the app had no problem syncing with my pdm at first but then it just stopped all together. I’ve tried the unpair from both ends and re-pairing it (didn’t work), Unpaired and uninstalled the reinstalled the app (didn’t work) I’ve tried every possible troubleshooting method I can think of except resetting my pdm to factory settings (stupid idea) and thill nothing. If the app needs an update then that could fix it (if that is the problem) so I can view it on my phone. Otherwise the Omnipod Dash is amazing apart from the occasional failing to connect with the pod since it relies heavily on Bluetooth.

Promising, but...
The app is informative, but it lacks two serious features. The first - connection to Apple health to record basal and bolus delivery of insulin. The second feature - direct connection to dexcom g6 to import/export insulin bolus/temp basal info into the Omnipod display app for recommended boluses.

Instead of trying to replicate the PDA, Omnipod’s goal should be to use the app as a jump-point to other diabetes applications and Apple health and Apple research. Gathering and collecting this data simultaneously could be a big boon for studies that utilize artificial intelligence to find patterns of glucose and recommend potential boluses or treatment.
Lee, PA,
Love the OmniPOD, but…
I keep track constantly of how much insulin remains in my POD. However, with the latest update, it only alerts me when my POD gets down to 10 units left! I may be running errands, working, etc. and don’t carry supplies with me all the time. Would love to see amount of insulin remaining in POD starting at 100 units remaining and decreasing every 25 units used. This will assist in better management of my insulin needs and timely replacement of my POD. Thanks.

No View With View
View is suppose to provide to friends and family status of another person’s insulin pump. When working it is a great tool to provide back-up on the pump’s status for those on an insulin regimen. I have tried working with Insulet Customer Service three times trying to restore my connection to my wife’s Display account which has now not worked for the last three weeks. They tell me they are working on it. I hope no one dies in the interim while “they continue to be working on it.” Consider the likely lack of technical support you can expect to receive prior to making the switch to any of the Insulet insulin pump products.
cmurillo1093,
No iPhone compatibility!
First of all, this is ONLY compatible with the OmniPod Dash system, which is outdated and most users of this insulin pump are now upgraded to the new OmniPod 5. Secondly, what’s the point of having a “display-only” app without the ability to communicate between the insulin pump and the Dexcom G6 glucose sensor? Furthermore, I’ve worn the OmniPod 5 for nearly 2 years now and have been hearing “any day now we will roll out the new app for the 5 series that’s compatible with iPhones.” Really?? Please do iPhone users a favor and design an app for us iOS users. I’m tired of carrying around two devices just to keep it going!

IOB/Time off
I’ve only had the app for about 4 hours now and I like it but my only problem is the the IOB is off by .5 units. When I look on my PDM it say 1.5 but the app on my phone reads 1.0 so that would cause a little problem for some ppl especially if they forget there PDM at home and want to check the app to see what the last insulin intake was. Also the time is off by an hour which is not really a big deal But if those 2 things can be fixed the app would be great!!
opppyybjimkfg,
Useless
The app is absolutely useless. What’s the point? It doesn’t let you do anything to your pod, or control the pod. Now you have to carry a pdm, a meter, and a phone. That’s great, maybe cargo pants will come back in style. At least the classic had a meter in the pdm. Really, why not make the app where you can do away with having to carry the pdm? The pdm looks like it would completely break if you drop it, and then you will just have to wait for a new one. As far as the app goes, I don’t see anything useful in it that I can’t just use the pdm
( which you have to carry anyway) to do.
