Mke13,
Good App, but there are server issues
Works great... when it works. Every few days, I get a pop up saying there is a server error. Sometimes it says there is an error with updates from the cloud.
Only way I can fix it is by uninstalling and reinstalling app. Unfortunately every time I do that, my son has to send me another verification to set it up. Frustrating.
When it is working, I love it. One of the main screens shows the last BG and bolus. I can also see other insulin and BG history so I know if he has been blousing.
It nice I can see pod status to know if his insulin the pod is running low and what day it was activated.
Another great feature is I get notices for alarms, such as occlusions, low insulin in reservoir and reminders to check his BG after anew pod has been activated.
Good app, but it would be so much better if it would connect to servers better.

Great when it works
We’ve been using the Omnipod Dash system for a couple months now. The benefit of being able to see what our 14-year-old is doing as far as when he’s dosing and for how much, etc., is such a helpful upgrade over the old Omnipod system. Unfortunately, every now and again, the updates we should be receiving from the cloud don’t happen. In two instances, my app stopped providing updates entirely while my wife’s kept working (I’m on iPhone 8 Plus, latest iOS, and she’s on an iPhone 11). Restarting didn’t work. I ended up having to uninstall the app both times and then reinstall and re-invite myself to follow again, at which point it went back to working correctly. The most recent issue has been that 3 days ago, the app started showing the red banner like it does if there hasn’t been an update within 30 minutes, but the IOB and dose history were updating fine as if there wasn’t a problem. Resigned to just deal with getting updates but having it appear as though I wasn’t, I kept going until just a few minutes ago, when the app suddenly replaced the main screen with a message that said “Last Update 3+ Days Ago”. So now I can’t see any info. Guess I’ll be uninstalling/reinstalling again and hoping it fixes the problem, but it’s just a big hassle. If they could fix the updates issue I would give the app 5 stars.
tonys thoughts,
It’s a great storefront
Our active daughter switched from the tube to the Omnipod a month ago and it’s been great! A1C was lower even after the one month which I contributed to this pump and not having to remove the other for hours in the day during practices and events. So the pod is awesome! And this app I thought was a godsend, we could watch what is going on with her insulin at school just like her cgm. And WHEN it works it is, its wonderful and gives us a peace of mind knowing she’s good and doing the right thing, or more like doing the wrong thing that she will hear about when she gets home. But it seems to go in and out of WiFi and not always connect. I’ve had to reconnect it to the same WiFi at home almost daily and the school, if she don’t do it there it doesn’t get done. If they could just make the WiFi software more reliable it would be such a great tool for us parents to rest (lol) a little easier while they are away for us. Hope you have a great day and thanks for reading.
Abeliza,
When it works is good
I agree with other reviewers that the service for the app is lacking. We use the Dash and it’s been slowly giving me issues also. At times is very slow to react and the company does not seem to be keeping up with changes therefore I do not expect quick fixes for the apps themselves. It’s sad because technology is ever changing and with other companies showing their new products something small as this app being ignore can trigger us the consumer to seek other products from companies that are inverting in new and improved items. Our Endo has also lost faith in OmniPod and talked to us during my sons last visit about changing to another product. We have choices!
Fluffybunbun123,
Works but needs improvement
After a LOT of difficulty setting up the app (I had to delete and reinstall before I was able to link to my daughter’s account) I was very satisfied with how it worked... for about 12 hours. App would not refresh so everything was out of date and therefore completely useless to me. I reinstalled it again, and again it stopped working after 12 hours. This time I asked my daughter if she was having trouble with her Display app, and she was! She refreshed her app and boom! View app refreshed and is working again. However the problem remains that for me, it only works for 12 hours at a time, which is not ideal.
Tina8842,
Useless app because it never works
I admit I’m annoyed when I see five star ratings for this app, and then in the review they go on and on about how it never works. Don’t leave a 5 star review for an app that never works!! This app has not worked in WEEKS and if you try calling support all they do is blame shift, saying there must be something wrong with my phone, my son’s phone, Bluetooth, internet, etc. Everything under the sun instead of accepting responsibility and admitting the app is faulty. My son has a Dexcom and we RARELY have issues with their companion app, Follow. So I doubt very highly if that app works with no issue that something is wrong on our end with View. The app is useless, because it doesn’t work. Fix it!
userparent2,
Banner has gone red and no updates whatsoever
For the last week the view app banner has been red and the only thing we were able to see was the last bolus and alarms only. No IOB or current basal. Now, we only see in the history tab last bg and bolus although not accurate at all since it does not show every bolus ( skips some at random). No other information is displayed and it say “last communication with pod is 3 plus days ago.
We need Insulet to fix this ASAP.
Epelletier84,
Syncing issues
For whatever reason, despite my son’s display app functioning correctly, the display app running in the background of my son’s phone- the View App for the past couple of months has been several hours behind. It’s saying the last PDM update is accurate, but the last PDM communication with the pod is Hours behind.

It’s boggling to me since the PDM itself is functioning fine, updating the view app fine but it is NOT translating to the view app.

When my son is at school I have no idea if he is actually correcting, or how much IOB he has. It’s super frustrating because I don’t know if he is ignoring my instructions, or if I’m telling him to correct too often.
mbennettbrown,
Be careful if you depend on this app
The app is known to have outages. It seems Insulet does not have adequate staff to maintain the infrastructure, so when there are outages they can last for weeks.

I write that with a sense of ambiguity since Insulet does not openly share information on outages like Dexcom and other medical tech companies.

My suggestion is Insulet approaches their operations as a medical tech company, understands the apps are a core part of their service offering, and treat outages that effect thousands of users as major issues.
Search no more!!,
The idea is good but that is if you can view it.
We got the dash and after followed instructions to download the view app. My son is able to get it on his app but I am unable to connect to the link on the view app. I intended to call and before I knew it a month had gone by. Called to get the help on this issue and was told this has been happening to others as well and the problem has yet to be fixed for some time now. The lack of urgency in fixing this issue is concerning to me. Hoping soon this issue will be resolved so myself and my sons school nurse will be able to view his info.
