Razzwell,
Fun little time killer
A pretty choose-your-own-adventure type Resource management game. My favorite aspects of this game include: the flavor (it has a a good lost in space vibe), The aesthetic (cool comic are style with lovely coloring), The sound track (this is the best part of the game imo. Barnhoorn did a great job), and the variety of outcomes. Some of my gripes include: The RNG gods are brutal in this game so it may take you several tries to find the only thing that will allow you to beat the game, an upgraded ship. I played this game initially thinking it was a puzzle i was going to solve, that kept me interested for a while, but i eventually discovered that the difficultly primarily exists due to RNG (random number generator, aka luck/chance). You are so reliant on luck in this game that beating it will be a matter of making a run with right series of dice rolls. There’s very little one can do to improve their chance of survival. Resource burn is too aggressive imo. The devs might consider creating a normal/easy mode with slightly less severe resource burn. Though the difficultly (chance of not dying) does reflect the likelihood of the character making it back to his home-world, and maybe this is inline with the theme of game. It also very well replicates the feel of those old pulp choose-your-own-adventure books, which always seemed to kill me from what seemed to be the most innocuous decision.
ViridianPhoton,
Fun Strategy Managing Risk
It’s easy to write this game off as being too dependent on random chance. But that's completely overlooking that the game gives you many tools to manage the risk of bad things happening, and upside of random good things, which is where the deep strategy and fun comes in. The tricks take patience to learn/discover, but it’s rewarding when you do, and you’ll consistently be pushing deep into the game if not beating it each time.

Aside from the gameplay, I liked the illustrated style, and the atmospheric music was nice as ambiance, though not too memorable. There are a few neat ideas here too like learning the language as you progress. The game works well in the mobile format - you can stop and start playing quickly, though it has that “One more jump...” addictive property, so maybe it will still be hard!

My only criticism is that a decent amount of time spent in the early/mid game (basically until you get a better ship) is centered on doing the same things - drilling/probing. I wish there was a little more variety to break that up. But ultimately I think the deep strategy and accessibility as a mobile game make this a game worth playing if you appreciate that.
TeamNonin,
The game is good. People are dumb.
The only reason I'm writing this, is quite literally because reviewers say dumb things like, "c'mon, I paid a whole dollar for this!" As if paying 99c gives you the right to act like a child. A pack of gum costs more than this piece of software that someone lovingly made, poured their passion into and continued to support it with updates both graphically and gameplay-wise. If you don't like something, that's your prerogative, but could we stop pretending that paying 99c for something is akin to losing your savings, or is a crime on humanity? C'mon people, we can do better than this. For the record it's worth it a full price. 99c sale is a steal. As far as the game goes, is takes a certain appetite to appreciate it, but if it's your thing,it is a really good example of a resource strategy game that has a unique perspective with a great melancholic ambience.
ABW42,
Fun but RNG kills it half the time
So far I have over 100+ plays on easy and I still haven’t come anywhere close to getting any ending, every run will start out great until some random encounter breaks all my equipment and then I run out of fuel due to somehow 10 solar systems in a row not having a single fuel source, or any other seemingly unlikely resource shortage. It’s a great and simple game, but that simplicity also means that most of the time you just literally aren’t going to win, period. I want to like it but in retrospect it’s all pretty dull, all the ships are mostly the same (the stats are “different” but as far as I can tell it only makes a difference of 10 resource use max) , no ship ever has enough space to build the upgrades that make any late game survivable, and literally on the easiest mode it’s just impossible to win even after 100+ tries. Fix the RNG and it could be good, hell even just make it so that there’s a higher chance for good RNG instead of a 90% chance to basically die instantly and a 10% chance to find 10 fuel floating around, just something that doesn’t make it feel like you’re just getting kicked in the teeth with every warp.
WilfredCynid,
Finally no more lag!
The game is fantastic and worth the buy! Enjoyed playing this game long ago before the omega update and was pleased with the updates they have made. One problem I did have was it lagged once I upgraded to a new iPhone and was sadden but just had to wait a little for the great dev’s to Deliver optimizations :D!

Now there are two bugs that I have gone through with the recent update starting with, when I want to drill a random planet it won’t register then I press it a few more times and it acts like I went through dialogue and skips it like a missed event(love reading all the little events). Another was when I closed the game and came back later to resume and my ship had all bars at zero and screen prompt saying cancel and pressing it didn’t do anything and ship was supposedly back at square one but could still see all planets I passed through.

Other than that I’ve been enjoying the game and recommend anyone to try the game.
XxX_G-8oMBa_XxX,
This Game is so Difficult it's Not Even Funny...
First off, let me explain that I'm NOT overreacting when I say this, but this game is very unforgiving. Don't get me wrong, I like this game, I especially love making fun of the alien species with my brother, but when you just want to beat the game, that concept is a total waste of effort. I have tried so hard to beat the game and I even reached Earth's Solar System again, but not before I run out of fuel as soon as I jump for the last time; I even had the Stellar Embryo (if you haven't played the game yet, that is an extra life element,) but my extra chance got yeeted out of the window when it put me in a crappier ship that couldn't even travel to the next star system.

In conclusion, I'm conflicted about other people purchasing this game; If you consider buying this game, please take warning in the fact that even the slightest mistake (even on EASY mode,) this game will freaking PUNISH you via death/going adrift in space, over and over again...
MushaAleste,
Game is now fixed for iOS 13 and newer IPads and IPhone.
As of now, the slowdown and choppiness present before is now gone. The runs like a dream on iOS 13+. I tested it on my IPhone 11 and IPad Air 3.

With that being said, I am really enjoying this game. From the atmosphere to the music, you are going to be in for a treat. The story is the star of the show. It’s a choose your own text adventure with a really unique art style. The game throws some resource management in for the survival part of the game. Traveling through space and visiting mysterious worlds consumes helium, oxygen, and iron. Those are your basic elements you need to keep an eye just to get around. Other types exist for crafting and events.

People seem to complain about the difficulty. The fact that you can die at any moment is the draw of the game. You are exploring a vast alien galaxy....of course you are not invincible.
art926,
Way too randomized
The game is good and very interesting, but even when you played it like 30 times or so, learned most of the mechanics and act the best possible way, the game still randomly kills you - like, sends you to a star formation where you can’t jump out from because your engines are not good enough (and you’re stuck and have to restart) or you just don’t meet a particular planet type on the way for a few steps and run of one of the resource (means, you die). It’s like punishing you randomly while you didn’t do anything wrong and you have to restart again and again. It’s not right.
Dreaming of Wolves,
3.5 stars
I have mixed feelings about this title. Here are my thoughts.

1) I actually found it far easier than people claimed. I thought I was going to die instantly and I actually made it really far, even on my first play through. It’s certainly easier on Easy.

2) the game really shows its age in the graphics. The graphics aren’t very sharp, even on a pre-iPhone X device. And the text font is too close to comic sans for comfort. The music is somewhat bland. The environments are still pretty.

3) while I disagree about the difficulty, I do agree with the random chance people complain about. RNG does mess you up randomly when you’re pretty far along. I found it only does that when you’re low on two core resources so you must choose which one to fill. Then RNG never lets you fill the other resource and you die from lack of that resource.

To combat this, I would just always keep resources above the halfway point when you can, even if you waste more fuel. This game is also far longer than FTL, so starting over isn’t as easy. Especially if you’ve gotten really far.

Overall a satisfying experience well-worth a dollar on sale, but worth the standard $3.99 too. I suggest a sale if you’re interested.
crop duster dude,
Cool
I struggled a lot with this game initially it felt impossible and unfair. However it finally clicked with me and I started doing a bit better. One thing that helped me was realizing that you can choose a new starting ship that you’ve unlocked by selecting new game instead of quick start. Anyway, I really like it now. The visuals, the music, the excellent writing, and even the challenge/RNG making you sweat. I would recommend it. Gotta love when you’re late game and all your 20 stack of Omega gets jettisoned and then an alien destroys your sun probe and your extra inventory slots are destroyed, along with the items in those slots being lost in space. Yep
