MV Dave,
Liked It So Much, I Bought the Paid Version
I reached a point where I just could not stand my piano due to the middle section (where the kids bang out their music) being so out of tune. Tuner can’t get here for another week so I just needed something to get buy. I’m not a trained piano tech or tuner but I tried (in vain) to get that middle section at least close using the upper and lower registers as a point of reference but I just couldn’t figure it out well enough to get the temperament restored. Finally, desperate for at least a “survival” tuning to hold me until the pro can get here, I tried this app. After sampling the lower and upper registers, I could visually see how the octaves were stretched and could pick a point on the +/- measurement that followed the pattern. Lo and behold it worked! At least well enough to not hurt my ears until the pro can get hear and really get it dialed in. With the paid version I can get more precise visual range and expect it will become very helpful between visits from the pro tuner. If it can do a piano this well, I imagine it would be awesome for a guitar or violin.
LV953,
Much better than I expected
I had my piano professionally tuned 2 weeks ago but my tuner must have spaced out on the last octave. It was horribly sharp and the last 5 notes sounded the same. Admittedly, most of us don’t play those notes that often but when they’re out of tune, you realize you play them more than you think. It was so bad that it was just too painful for me to wait for him to come back and fix his mistake. So after ordering a tuning kit, I downloaded this app.

As any pianist knows, the uppermost octave is particularly challenging to tune by ear because the strings are so short and the tone is so tinny.
I first tested the app on middle A and sure enough it read 339.9, close enough to A440 to which the piano was tuned. And, as I heard, the last octave was at least a quarter to a half step sharp. The tuner was able to distinguish between the uppermost 4 notes which all sounded identical to my ear.

The app is simple to use and extremely discerning and sensitive, even to very small adjustments. It is so sensitive that I caution everyone to make sure there is no ambient noise in the room while you’re tuning.

I don’t know what extra benefits the paid app provides other than no ads which are very unobtrusive in a thin bar at the top of the screen. Truthfully, the free app works so well I would have been happy to pay for it.
Janeathor,
Great for many instruments
I’ve used about 3 different tuning apps so far, but none of them even compared to this app. From the perfect accuracy, the easy interface, and the fact that it’s FREE, I’ve used this app almost everyday. As a person who plays 10 instruments, I’ve used it in instruments from my saxes to my guitars, and even my banjo! It holds up just as well as a physical tuner or tuning fork, and can even work on stage with lots of noises. I love how you can change the frequency of “A” so it makes it simpler for tuning transposing instruments like my clarinet. Have recommended this to friends and will be using it for years to come!
Stratmandeville,
Simple, accurate and reliable
I’ve played guitar for over 50 years and gone through several tuning apps over the last decade or so. I really like this one best. I’ve found it to be simple to use, and accurate, and adjustable to +/- 2, 5 or 10 cents. I find that for me, 2 cents is too sensitive, and 10 not quite accurate enough for my use. 5 cents has been my preferred setting and accurate enough for me to adjust my intonation when I don’t feel like pulling out my Korg with a meter and plugging in. This is definitely quicker from that standpoint. It works best when background noise is limited. Overall I’m delighted with Pano tuner and strongly recommend it.
Angeldarkheart,
WOW!!
I have been looking for the most simple tuner for myself (I play the Ukulele) and I am a kid so I needed something simple for me to understand with me only knowing the 4 chords G C E A. This app made it RIDICULOUSLY EASY!! Every week I tune my ukulele and I swear I have probably mentioned this app to my friends a lot. My dad first found this app and tunes his guitar. My friends are probably sick of me mentioning this app probably for the millionth time. I love that you can change the settings to solfege. I am also a singer and I love that I can check my pitch. Overall, This is the best tuning app I have ever used.
Soemdude,
An Almost-Perfect Free Tuner
What’s not to like? It’s simple, straightforward, and does exactly what you need it to do.

The only thing to complain about here are the advertisements. The need to monetize the free version of an app through nominally intrusive advertisements glisters with an aura of opportunism.

I would much rather see the free version of an app be an inducement to a paid upgrade to a full-version app with greatly enhanced versatility. To make money on both ends of a creative endeavor calls the creators’ ethics into question, even if in small ways.

As such, it’s not an app that I will ever spend money on. Remove the ads, provide the world with something of value for free, and I’ll buy anything a creator creates, just to support the vision.

If you’re gonna try to find a way to make money off me one way or another, you’re gonna have to nickel & dime it out of me on your own, because I’m not likely to give it to you any other way.

It’s time for a return of ethical altruism in business, IMO.
No Agenda 30,
Very accurate
I have made a living as a guitarist. Have been playing longer than most of you have been alive. I use Peterson and Conn strobe tuners. I have found (and was happily surprised in so doing) that this app is almost as accurate as a strobe. Of course this works with your phone’s mic therefore any outside noise will effect it. So, for a free app it is great for quick use when practicing and/or playing around the house. I have used it to set intonation. I will add; if you don’t have spare money for a tuner. This app will work very nicely.
Zelda . meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!,
Great, just one thing..
One thing is that you have to change the tuner to different types of instrument- for example, I have a Bb trumpet, so I had to change the setting to Bb. It would be nicer if the tuner just had an option for which instrument you play.
Also I’m a bit confused on what a Concert A is, might just be me since I’m new to band, might be true for others in band/orchestra.
Otherwise, this app is great for being a free one. (Also, there aren’t pop up ads that come up while you are playing, which is a big plus.)
Please acknowledge my review and fix these issues.

La Fuher,
Best online free tuner I’ve ever used
I’ve tried about 10 or more apps that claim they will tune just from the microphone in your phone they’re all very difficult to use and never seem to work right. This particular app however has never failed me it’s always simple and it always works. I half to press at the 12th fret to do the low E on a base or anything lower because it doesn’t like that low of a sound but I found that to be the case on most
KJB +,
Great Tuner
This tuner app is WONDERFUL!! It is handy and easy to use. It’s on my phone, so I don’t have to worry about carrying an extra piece of equipment in my instrument case just to tune. I’ve tried tuners I’ve borrowed from other players just to see how they work. I have yet to find one I like nearly as well as my tuner app, and I certainly haven’t seen one that beats it! If you’re searching for a great tuner, quit looking and get this app. I don’t think you will be disappointed!
